LOL..Thats a good one.......Shoot all the big bucks. That does not happen in this or any state. If your theory was correct then all the big buck states would be out of bucks because they not only have all the locals chasing them for a couple weeks...They have paying non residents by the hundreds or thousands. Seems as though every other state gets along just fine with shorter seasons? Oh and they also have a healthier over all population on top of having big mature bucks? Funny how that works!

Huh.........Deer in this area and many more that ARE open for hunting must be freaking masters at the game because they are never seen at ANY time of the year. You speak of all these deer and then you speak of towns? Well i guess the unlimited pressure on those deer that drove them into these towns to continue breeding because of no pressure may be your answer to all these deer you speak of. Maybe if they are not chased around for 3 months at a time the deer may be back in their normal haunts?

Boom! What fun is it to shoot a bunch of baby deer when they see guys all over Tv and every state around us shooting adult mature deer. I always found it funny that all the classes are always full for hunting permits but our hunter numbers keep dropping so they say? Strange! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Same here. That's because there are no/few deer in many areas the DEC would like you to think are many. The management in this state is weak at the very best. Guessing on population numbers along with hunting seasons lasting 3 months has all but ruined hunting in many parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hunting at our camp up in Colton at Barney pond never found us with a snow issue effecting harvests. Chopping two weeks of the beginning or the end of the season would not harm many. A split season would even be better. Using the Hunters in the Daks is using the least amount of hunters involved in hunting in the north when talking hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nah..own 900 acres but never step foot on it. The snow excuse is weak at best as we hardly ever get any amount until December anyways and gun has already been open for 6-7 weeks by then. Shorter season would help the herds in many ways with stress just being one of them. If it takes a guy 6-7 weeks to fill a couple tags they need to either find another hunting area or take up golf.

The gun season downstate is fine with a month of gun season. The North does not 2 months of gun season.. One could argue about the more deer in some areas or no deer in the Dak's but all in all 4 weeks of gun should be plenty. Myself i would rather see the seasons changed so there would be no gun's in the Rut which would do wonders for the herd. A guy can dream right?

Bingo......I HAVE to let someone on property 3 hours away because i am just that...3 hours away. If locals dont see the truck or side by side its fair game to push off my plots or my bedding areas that are off limits to even my boots unless tracking. Most times its city folk messing around on state land and Local folk messing around on private land.

Hunters arrested in Columbia county
Four Season Whitetail's replied to mowin's topic in General Hunting
Lets not forget the fact that we cant get enough CO's to do the job they need to do............One cop for a 200 mile run means very few people ever get caught without them getting a tip. -
Merry Christmas everyone!

Proven fact that CWD has and will do nothing to any herd any where. Read the science and facts. Not the here say and agendas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh I am sure mother still takes her share of animals on way or the other but nothing worse than animals coming out of winter having to play catch up on body condition before starting their new growth. Birds maybe not so much as bucks but bucks will take a huge hit in their antler growth coming out of winter in poor condition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's proven around here year in and year out. The table is always set and plates are always full. Truth is that they really don't hammer the feed like one would think. They come and go as they please. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Brilliant! Takes the law right out of it!
-
Its not against any laws to feed turkeys that i am aware of ?
-
Proven wrong many times over. Done right and its the best thing going for wildlife in our high snow areas.

Why is it against any Ny laws to feed the local turkey population?

First off. Hands in someone's pocket does not have to mean cash. Second if you read the write up he said,...he got his info from a park cop!!! So you take hunters that have gotten all their info and all their permits for 20 years from the administration building. Which is where all the parks seasons and hunter numbers and what, where, when and how many game will be takin and you hear that there is not a season that they know of and then they read a permit to you and they say. There is nothing on the permit that says bears can be takin there is a problem. If you even had a clue of how that park is ran and has been ran for eons you would not question anything. They did not put on permits bear was open. They did not advertise in the local news papers that they always send to that bear was open and they did not even put on their website that bear is allowed this year. Add that to another guy right on this site told you that he happened to ask a cop and they said yes. So that points to a hunter better know or talk to a cop to see what they can hunt or can't and that is far from what is right or has ever been done in the past. So all of that easily adds up to the park not wanting many hunters to know the bear could be shot. Can't really see why they did because there are not many and by the looks of the smashing the park is getting all over social media you probably won't see a season again but that will be to little to late because now word will be out that bear can be takin and many won't do their homework like we tried to do and they will be shot on site during even shotgun season. The park knew what they were doing by not advertising that bears could be killed and they did it in a very shady manner. At Best! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You took it to that level with your pointing of fingers when you had no clue. Nobody bad mouthed that hunter. I made the statement that I a statement was made by a local down there that it was shot with a rifle. You did not see me write out that I thought he killed it will a rifle. In case you don't know, when a sentence starts out with.....Word Has It... that means it came from another source. As shady as this whole deal is who knows what's on the up and up. And again I could care less about the hunter or the bear as we could have takin them for years but the park made this whole thing as..Cloudy.. as they could do less hunters would know about it. It's pretty bad that the park cops have the info that the front office that gives out the permits do not. Yeah Shady at best! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Riiiight. All facts printed out and plain to see. Clueless i guess. Bub Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah that would be about your best comeback when you are once again involved in a conversation you are clueless about! Perfect fit for you! Did I spell all that out right for ya? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah please do quote my post where I said---Word has it that it was killed with a rifle---- Did that say my word said it? No! You a freakin clueless on what even goes on in that park so keep making yourself look like the fool. Everything points to shady shit being done by park officials. Period! This shows how much you think you know. The park makes their own rules if there is a bear season or not. They don't call the dec and ask if they can have a season. If they want a season they have it. If not they don't. Good try though. As far as any antler restrictions I can promise ya I knew all about them dropping them and was the first one to write in to try and keep them in the park. Try Again! You dumb people read how many people sat the same thing in this thread that I did. Duh!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

True That......But our permits said (No Other Game-Deer Only) Cloudy is a good word for it. lol
