Four Season Whitetail's

500 on the west side. Ar has only been in for 4 years i believe. Point being that hunters that want Ar will wail for that 1 buck or take a different buck but it will be a good one. To shorten the season would not push those hunters to blast away because they feel the pinch. They will still wait it out. The other hunters that dont care about Ar will still blast away at a shorter season just as they do now. Plus with a shorter season there will be more adult mature bucks around so it will be easier to take one even with a short season.

Nah i dont know. After hunting Letchworth for 20 years and seeing all the City Folk that come to the park and blast away on opening morning at anything that moves tells me its already Brown and Down for many down there. They are there to fill tags regardless of size.Many fawns hanging in the trees by lunch time opening day speaks volumes.

The best thing a manager with enough property can do is his own style management. 90% could..and are..doing a better job setting the rules on harvests on their properties. Just have to have enough land for the mix.

Those people shoot the first deer they can now anyways so i believe it would change nothing. They also would not have time to fill their wives and kids tags after they shoot their first one!

One issue is Doc tell it how it is and speaks the truth. At his age he was hunting when the population of some animals were low while some where high. He then hunted when small game was more than plentiful and he now has hunted when small game is all but gone. Feed for the flying and four legged vermin. You may want to listen because while Doc was hunting and growing with the hunting world you were just an itch in your daddy's Levi's! If its true what some believe on here that people are not after large bucks then there should not be a need for a 2-3 month season to just kill a deer. Any Deer to fill that tag. How long does it take? Now for the truth for most and the ones looking for big bucks then that would come after a couple years of shorter seasons and no gun in the rut. Then it would not take long to fill the take either because they would be there to be had!

Sure we can do what the DEC wants done and just kill them all. The discussion is about antlers and getting them bigger. Taking the gun out of the rut is the best way to do just that. I like how spoiled Ny hunters are and happy with some of the worst hunting in the country when it comes to top deer. Look at all the other states that have great hunting and you dont hear them whine about short seasons because they all kill great bucks because they are there. And not to mention how land values are three times better and the average lease price is 30 to $60 bucks a acre. 2-3 month deer season is and always has been way to much.

Im sure a couple do hit road kills but a heck of alot more hit the piles left for them that are deer from any miles away. And possible disease ridden. Not a safe practice for the landscape!

Agreed.. 4-6 weeks total season with no guns during the rut. No North and South season. Same times of seasons all across the state.

Unlike tested deer deer farms, Which are the only ones that can move animals, You cry and whine about the slim chance of a bird eating lead but have no problem feeding those same birds untested meat to fly around and drop disease for miles. Agreed but they sure aint passing them to let them get longer eyelashes or put on 40 pounds. The guys that are passing are passing for future inches ( as shown is the majority) and all the rest are not passing anyways and will blast the first legal deer.

It has been tabled the last i knew. They are aware of the lawsuit that will follow any silly moves like those. No science or fact that whitetail urine has ever carried any disease or harm to any wildlife.

Again i think it a numbers game when it comes to Turkeys.Around here you can sleep in and still go fill your tags, I could never imagine them getting the nod over bow season in the fall during the rut.

Didnt take long for the fishermen to use the drone it that sport. Watched a vid today where a guy flew high out into the ocean to find a group of tuna and after found he came back in..Hooked his setup to a down rigger type release and flew it back out to drop in into the middle of the group for a quick hookup! Fair Chase? Fair Fishing? Not real sure about this myself!

Same here but just put a brand new 55hp Deere with full loader in the stable last week. That little backhoe would have been the cats meow around here.

Well they are DEC and it does include more than just deer but to waste money on things like CWD any longer is just pissing it away and any monies spent on Raptors and such should come from other than big game permit dollars.

I have rolled a few to have them fly away. Those wings and feathers can really take a load of pellets. If they didnt take him in the noggin with enough force then he will live to gobble another day!
