Manbearpig...

That's the excuse I give my wife. "I can only hunt til' noon.. I'll be home early..." Let's leave good enough alone before I get myself into more trouble.

Rage broadheads turned me into a believer today
GR HUNTER replied to Hock3y24's topic in Bow Hunting
Good to know. I just looked it up on their website and I see that they have improved the collars. I'm guessing I shouldn't have a problem size wise swapping out my old collars with the new ones. -
Rage broadheads turned me into a believer today
GR HUNTER replied to Hock3y24's topic in Bow Hunting
My issue with the rage (and probably most mechanicals), has been the delicate handling needed. I accidentally must have touched the point against something one morning while sitting in my stand in the dark. After the sun came up I noticed that one of the blades had slipped out of the collar. Barely noticeable if didn't take a closer look. I don't know if this would've affected deployment had I taken a shot with it, but lucky for me i saw absolutely zilch that morning. -
I think that's normal. I think they are just starting to change coats.

I had the same issue and sent it back to Browning. They were great and a pleasure to deal with. Actually sent me back a brand new camera to replace the one that wasn't taking the night pictures.
-
Less than 5%? Come to think of it, I don't think I know anyone who has ever killed two bucks in the same year, much less even one buck in back to back years. But then again I'm a city boy so who knows..

Still waiting on mine.

Browning Strike Force Cam 10MP
GR HUNTER replied to rotorooter23's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I had the same which was corrected by ejecting the tray and pushing it back in. Unfortunately, the first time I didn't notice the camera wasn't on until i went back to check it a month later. Doh! I have another Browning which I just back for repairs because the flash just stopped working but that was a 2014 model which they no longer produce. Customer service was really nice and told me to just send it in. Other than that, they have all worked pretty well ( I have 4 running). -
I never really understood the point. Are deer really going out of their way just hit one of these? You would probably need to keep some sort of decent size pile going for an extended period of time to significantly alter deer movement/habits although they probably would help with inventory and getting a few deer to "pose" for a pic or two.

When do you know you have coyote problem?
GR HUNTER replied to GR HUNTER's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
This property is up in Columbia County. They look young but all the pictures I've seen of pups, they usually look much smaller this time of year. I'm beginning to buy into that theory though that we should all practice some sort or predator control, even if we don't normally hunt predators. -
At least I know what happened to all of the rabbits that used to be out back. I would catch one or two yotes every once in a while on camera passing through but now its getting ridiculous.
-
I used them on my last mount. The mount came out fine but it took them forever, which I guess is acceptable and expected up to a point. Problem is you are kind of limited as to where to go if you live "downstate" especially if you need to get it to a taxidermist within a certain amount of time. European mounts don't have those time constraints though. I'll have figure out something for the next one just out of principle.

Absolutely horrible.. http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20150617/PC16/150619408

I went out to pull some cards for a total of about 15 mins. and came back with 5 or 6 on me. Worst part is I spent the rest of the day thinking I had others crawling on me. Maybe, I'm crazy but I feel like the whole tick issue is getting worse and worse.
-
Looks like a dirty yote to me.
-
How much land do you need to run hounds on yotes? I would think neighbors and roads would be an issue.

And why not support xbows in 1C? Bow season on the island goes all the way to Dec. 31. And if I'm not mistaken, I heard somewhere on this forum that they might even push that way into January. More that enough time to hunt with your bow don't you think?

I'm not sure where everyone wants the guy to sit. I like these pics better than just the deer laying on its side in the truck bed with his tongue hanging out. I mean is there anyone out there thinking there are deer out there with extra big giant heads? That thing a beast. I love typicals!

congrats. that awesome.

2014 HuntingNY Whitetail Challenge
GR HUNTER replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in 2014 HuntingNY Whitetail Challenge
I'm in. -
A biologist, a chemist, and a statistician are out hunting. The biologist shoots at a deer and misses five feet to the left. The chemist takes a shot and misses five feet to the right. The statistician yells "We got 'em!”

Definitely not as crowded as it use to be. My dad up there last week. He said it was very quite and not too many deer.
