  1. ^^^this^^^ They are worth the $$ especially if you only shoot 5 shells a year between hunting and making sure POI in still on.Hell I spend more in snacks and coffee on my way to hunting during the week most weeks!!
  2. I used the Primos jellyhead with mine and the pattern was good out to 45,never patterned farther than that
  3. I used to shoot the blends, would shoot them again in a instant.Bad MOFO shells!!! I tried longbeards this year and hey group a touch better and you get 10 shots for 25 and Hevi blends are 5 for 25-30 depending on where you buy.Hevi shot has a rebate on there ste if you buy soon so make sure if you can you take advantage of that.I have used it the last 2 years.Takes the sting out of the $$$ part of the equation.
  4. No but hevi blends shoot great out of most guns,I switched to Winchester Longbeards this year and they kick less than the hevi blends by shoulder feel to me.I would try them then just some run of the mill turkey loads. Also look at getting a decent choke for your gun.I shot the Primos jellyhead for the last 2-3 years but recently tried a Sumtoy choke and it held the pattern a little better and I gained another 5 yards if I need it.I still try to strive no more than 40 yards though. My next choke I wil try will e a indian creek choke tube.
  5. "does this rod through my nipples make me look gay???"
  6. Yup great advise in above post.Steel doesn't hit as hard as lead or the substitutes.Definitely try some turkey loads and see how they pattern. The decoys aren't a must and half the time I don't use them.I go through a period that has me using a jake/hen setup the first week or 2 depending on how the react to them. Then I pull all decoys till the last week or so and just use a lone hen
  7. I know what the problem is here, that tom is homosexual.Think about it.Runs from hen calling, has his little group of hens and stays in bed way late into the day.Throw a few gobbles at him and see what happens with that deke and I bet he runs in!!
  8. Looks good!!!! He would have been deadly earlier this spring.I hope something comes in to try and whoop hell up on turkenstien for you!!
  9. Ok I will be the first to ay that if thats your first real try at filming your doing AWESOME!!!!! Great setup, double shots on the birds and showing the back angle shot on you and your friend was the cherry on top!! Keep up the good work
  10. take a few bottles of water and a snack or 2 and go all dayThe woods seem to be a better spot lately for me to see them also.
  11. I have one and they work great but with the winds we have been having its not worth the problem
  12. Was quite a different hunt.We started out on another property near Fair Haven,NY and heard a bit of gobbling.Things went cold after a little it and we walked around to see if we could spark up a conversation but nothing worked.I have a 100 acre lease in Palermo and my friend and I decided to go out that way because its been hunted very little this year.My friend took a hardwood ridge and started calling and I took the other ridge and did the same, but before we split up we decided were we would both sit the rest of that afternoon out.As I made my way through I got to my spot and got all set up.With a hen decoy out in the sunny spot in the field. The mosquitos were absolutely terrible and I thought to myself "man I don't know if I can make it to 12 with them this bad as I forgot my bug net and the bug spray had all sweated off by then.As I reached for my call and for my striker I heard a gobble,he was only at 60 yards but he was locked on my decoy and walking straight towards it.I slowly moved my gun in position and picked a spot he would get to in a opening, when he popped into the opening at 35 yards I let him have a shot of 3 1/2 inch #5 lonbeards. He dropped stone dead and didn't flop or twitch a bit. When I got to him he started the jitters but soon gave up the ghost. What a season!!! My little girl is going out again in the am so I am really hoping to get one in front of her
  13. Tagged out this am at 10:26!! 19 pounds,8 3/4 inch beard and I inch spurs
  14. If you can spend the time to go to youtube through his link look at the vid.At least he was decent enough to post the vid up for us to see
  15. My friend has a 3500 and puts it through hell duck hunting every year.He has owned Franchi,Remington,Winchester and a few others and this is the one he says that can stand up to him.I borrowed it for turkey season but my old pump patterned better and the grip swell is to big for my liking, other than that I like them.
  16. probably had bad gas all its life!!
  17. Not one gobble for me this am,brother in law was 1 mile away and had one hammering at him
