  1. Would it amaze you if I told you more construction workers and over the road truckers die on their jobs every year, Yea more than troopers, cops, transit cops and even fireman, every year, yea that's right. http://www.newsday.com/news/region-state/ny-worker-dies-when-wind-gust-knocks-him-off-roof-1.6461160
  2. I see that on the job where we all know each other??
  3. not me, only what I absolutely need, one .308 is all I need.
  4. It's posts like these that make a .270 seem like a yea I guess compromise. You don't even have to put it in the right spot with a round like the .270, we are not talking a 30-30 here? If anything a .270 is overkill for whitetails.
  5. The kinetic energy of a .270 round moving at around 3000 fps is enormous, not only that you can reach out and slam a deer a lot farther with that .270 than you can with a 12ga slug. Far superior to a shotgun slug in any way. Good luck....
  6. Haven't seen a buck like this in 30 hard years of hunting in Ulster, and hes not the only one. Several big 8s and even a monster 10 taken right in my area this season. If all were perfect from my perspective I would say hunters under a certain age limit or hunters who have never taken a decent buck should be allowed to shoot anything. But AR is a yes for me.
  7. Bring your chainsaw out there and cut down a few trees while your at it.
  8. More women hunting? How many members does this forum have and you can count the women on it on one hand and that hasn't changed in years....And meat motivation has always been what most hunters are out for, the trophy at the dinner table, nothing new here.
  9. I think this pic is real, no reason to believe its not, everyone has a camera right in their pockets today and I have seen deer run by with arrows sticking out of all parts of them, in the neck, in the butt, threw the upper shoulders. Just a lousy shot with a caveman style broadhead and and old heavy slow aluminum shaft.
  10. Probably one of those shoot the weekend before opening day and OK I'm ready hunters.
  11. My God hun, did you really do that!!!
  12. not for me. I wont do that until I get out of the woods, adds too much confusion to the morning...
  13. Why has this forum suddenly become inundated with new single post members who have nothing but hunting horror stories to tell?????????????
  14. No more none hunters on this site, the guy is an anti who is here just to stir. He should have been ignored from the get go.
  15. Little Porker did the wrong thing but worse than that is his parent for not crackin him in the head for taking that shot. Couldn't be any lamer, but he thanked the Lord which probably makes it all good fer them folks.
  16. Most of it private Im sure. I don think there's any state or parkland hunting around there.
  17. Im not sure where the OP lives in PJ, but there are open areas big enough for bow hunting in and around PJ. Bow hunting is legal in areas big enough in Suffolk county, and for the OP to think that someone shot a random arrow into the air by his property and having it land in a bucks back are all too wrong and ridiculous.
  18. Probably shot from a tree stand, no one is shooting arrows into the air and accidently hitting bucks in the back.,>>>. There are legal areas to hunt in PJ Suffolk county and the deer more than likely traveled from there. Heres some advice OP from PJ,>>>Fagedaboudit.......
  19. I've been hunting 3J for 30 years and I can tell you those deer were not there a decade ago.
  20. There are no pigs in NY...only the political swine that run this state...OK glad I got that off my chest.
