and a big HOORAHHH for you -
i feel as a bow hunter your much better served learning how to completely dismantle your bow right down to the limbs/axles and replace and tune your own equipment, it's not really rocket science and well worth the effort.

you know i used the ultra nock for years and just loved them, then the d-loop craze came around and i went to d-loops on all my bows, i think back to how easy an ultra nock was to install and how it lined up my peep with ease, also easy to move up and down(try that with a d-loop), i'm thinking of going back to them and not worrying about the 5 fps i might be loosing.

i like to give a company a year or two, but i'm the proud owner of a diamond bow which is currently my best shooter.

looks like one sure got a hold of it It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. Mark Twain then i guess you just blew it, all in less than 10 posts ;D -
i don't know if i'm allowed to mention another forum on this site but the other major Archery forum on the net has a classified ad section for used hunting bows and you would not believe the amount of quality used (some barely) bows being listed daily at a fraction of the original cost!! i mean 2 year old Matthews bows for 400 bucks!!! i myself am in the market for an additional bow and think this might be the way to go.....

do you really think anyone cares what kind of little ninny laws you impose on your tiny piece of earth in a state that has 100s of thousands of hunters with millions of acres of hunting land and besides i will be encouraging crossbow use on my land -
a good idea, but till crossbows have full inclusion into archery season (sorry Doc i know i just made you wince :'( ) you won't get a whole lot of guy's heading to the woods in rifle season with a crossbow.

Actually, the jury is out as far as how effective they really are. You really don't see a whole lot of guys using them do you? If they were all that effective, you would see them on every bow, kind of like nearly every rifle and shotgun and crossbow have. I had one for tournament shooting years ago and it was pretty good in well lit shooting ranges and indoor ranges. Nothing like a rifle scope by any stretch of the imagination, but it did help somewhat. Needless to say it never went on my hunting bow. They are not the multi-optic, gas-filled, light gathering scopes that are commonly used on rifles, shotguns and crossbows or even close. Another thing if you can imagine it, just think of the difficulty of trying to keep a bow steady enough to use 8X magnification. It's not like you can drop down your bi-pod or get down into a prone position, or bench rest your bow on a downed log or something .... lol. come on Doc, you know if there was any practical way to mount a scope on a vertical compound bow it would have been done by now, the reason vert bow hunters don't shoot with scopes has nothing to do with their wanting to remain pure. hey Doc can you tell the that story again about when you get too old to shoot your vertical bow how you will just ride off into the sunset instead of ever using a crossbow, thats one of our favorites, tell it PLEASE, PLEASE???!!!! -
it's an invasion of privacy to list the names of law abiding citizens like that, heck lawmakers had to jump thru hoops to get a law passed to list the names of low life, pond scum child molesters on the net because it was an invasion of their privacy!!! >

i think it's a good idea..i will be using one in late muzzle loader season next year..and alot of NY state borders states that allow crossbows, i will be hunting PA this year with a crossbow also..

when i know it's a deer i look at it with my scope and if its what i want i slip the crosshairs to the lungs and thats the end of story, but if i see movement and i'm unsure of the target then i us my bino's, for me there's no need to make uneeded movement when seeing a deer in the woods.

this is a group/association in NY that has it's head in the right place and should be checked out... http://www.newyorkhuntingmentor.com/ we have had a very successful youth turkey hunt this season. giving young hunters a first crack chance at hunting in NY is something that can only have positive outcomes and should be supported by all of us.
