  1. The two guys I’m with out here in Nebraska have them. One guys won’t work doing the same thing yours is and the other guy says his only last 2 hours. Neither one is impressed
  2. No shooters tonight for any of us. But some guys from Michigan that are staying at the same hotel as us paid our dinner tab at the only restaurant open in town. We thought that was cool as hell of them. Gonna invite those guys out for dinner sometime this week before we leave and repay the favor. Random acts of kindness like that are good reminders there are still good people left on this earth!

  4. Well no luck for me yet. Still have a few days left here. Weather drops into the 20s tonight so that should help. But check out this monster my old man dropped in Kansas. My parents moved back to Kansas this past winter. He walked across the street to a 250acre farm and asked the old lady who owns it if he could hunt there. She said yes and that she normally doesn’t ever let anyone hunt but since they are neighbors no problem. He said he put up 2 cameras a couple weeks ago and has 6 bucks all over 150. This one he shot was the 2nd biggest. My old boss at the outfit I worked for in KS gave it a quick measure and he says it’s 165 being conservative. Could possibly break into B&C, will know for sure once the taxidermist gets his hands on it. 270 pounds dressed weight also! What a awesome buck.
  5. Saw a bruiser around 11am 150 yards out. He wanted nothing to do with any of my calls. He was running the other way nose to the ground. The finger of trees he came out of is the same one all the other bucks are coming from. So I ripped my stand down and me and my buddy hiked up to that finger and discovered it’s a bowl that drops down into the creek bottom. There’s a little hidden picked over milo field on the other side of the bowl and the woods neck right down to this awesome pinch point. Im on the top of this hill on he north side of the creek and I can shoot both sides. Massive trail right under me practically that has a huge extremely fresh rub on it. It smells like deer in here and just looks like big buck travel corridor. Hope a big boy comes through soon!
  6. You won’t regret the rages. I should of taken a pic of the entry and exit wounds on my buddy’s deer he shot yesterday. They are massive. Hard quartering to shot, when through the body and came out in front of opposite side rear leg and then sliced a big chunk off the rear quarter after exiting body cavity. Holes were massive on both sides and he died within 60 yards
  7. Swing and a miss!☹️. Took a 52 yard shot at a real nice 8 point that would of gone high 130s maybe even 140. Nicked a branch and deflected the arrow just in front of him. Clean miss. I was pissssssseeeddddd. But other than that it was a good morning. Had a smaller 8 point roar at me, yes roar. And the buck I shot at snort wheezed at me before I stepped out into the field. He was trailing a doe that was skirting the field so I had to send an arrow or watch him go with her. All in all I’ve seen 12 bucks today. They are starting to really move the does around, the next few days are going to be interesting. Going to move my stand tomorrow at lunch time down the finger of trees I’m in about another 80 yards to get closer to where most the deer are coming from. Supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow, I’m dressed to heavy to be moving stands today. Good luck to everyone back home
  8. Deer love chew. Had many lick my spit off the ground. I’m sure with a little doe piss in there your prolly right it’s irresistible. The 9 pointer my buddy just shot this morning he did it with a Marlboro in his mouth lol.
  9. Hahaha same here. Just did it the other morning. Putting out scent wicks in the dark usually means I’m spilling some on my hands. Then I forget all about it until I get settled in up in the stand and reach for my can of grizz. At least I’m not the only one lol
  10. Well that buck I posted the trail cam picture of yesterday is dead. Not by my doing though lol. My buddy shot him about a half mile from me this morning at 940. He’s a nice 9 point. Not sure what he will score yet, will tape it when we get home. At the laundry mat in town now getting some clothes washed before me and the other guy head back in for the afternoon hunt. My camera had a bigger 8 point on it the other night, hoping he makes a appearance soon!
  11. Caught this guy making a scape 15 ft from my stand. There were 2 other bucks a little bit bigger than him doing the same thing. Can’t get those pics to load though. Tons of scrapes along the field edge I’m on. Come on boys where you at!?
  12. O ya forgot to mention that when I talked to my wife last night she said the biggest 8 point she’s ever seen was walking out of my food plot and across the road into my neighbors yard. Of course the big ones come through when I’m not home! Lol. Hoping my trail cams picked up some nice bucks while I’m gone. The week I get home is gonna be a good one I think.
  13. Still in stand. 7 does and a 7 pointer so far. The 7 was chasing the does all around for almost 2 hours. He disappeared for awhile so I hit the rattle bag and I look down the field and here he comes on a dead run lookin for a fight. Just need a big boy to do that now. Fun to watch nonetheless. I know one things for sure. This place is overrun with red squirrels. They need to thin the herd a bit lol. The one guy with us saw a giant last night. Couldn’t get a shot. He said the mass was unreal. Could be any moment now.....
  14. Thank god for cabelas wool gear. It’s frigid!
  15. Well I didn’t blow away yet here. 40-50 mph winds yesterday were brutal! Saw a lot of deer though. Today the temps dropped back into the 20s and it started snowing a little while ago. I’ve seen 10 bucks today but nothing big enough to shoot. Little guys are starting to chase the does around pretty good. Full rut is coming real soon! I’ve seen so many little bucks it’s unreal. One of these big ones has gotta come by sooner or later[emoji51]
  16. Well I luckily get decent service in the stand. Practically none when I’m down on the ground. Beautiful crisp 28 degrees here with no wind to maybe a gentle 1-2 mpg breeze for a min. Wind is supposed to pick up in a few hours though. I’ve had 13 does come by so far. 11 in the field and two down behind me in the creek bottom. The field is planted in clover which is cool. I can see a good ways in most directions so I’m keeping an eye on where the deer are coming and going and will move the stand accordingly. Gonna hit the horns and grunt tube here in a few mins and see what happens!
  17. Just left the hotel. Nice 28 degree morning. Hoping I have picked the right amount of clothes to wear lol. I’m excited as all hell. Service is terrible anywhere a few miles outside town so idk if I’ll be able to go much posting from the stand. Good luck to everyone on here going out today! I’ll give y’all an update when service allows[emoji1591]
  18. Ok well we took way longer at breakfast and hanging stands than we should have so we decided to forgo the afternoon hunt and just get settled into the hotel room and have some beer, pizza and wings and relax for the night. My stand is about a 50 min walk from the parking area. After carrying stands down there, we weren’t in the mood to turn around and make that walk again in a rush to beat sundown. But we saw a bunch of bucks just walking down this old rail road line that we use to get to our stands. In total we’ve seen over 100 deer today. Lots of big rubs all around and scrapes everywhere. Confidence is very high with all this action going on! I didn’t take many pics today since we were rushing trying to get stands up so I’ll have to snap some more in the upcoming days. I love this Midwest terrain. Makes me feel right at home again. Even found something I haven’t seen in forever!
  19. Well we’ve arrived here in Nebraska. Can’t check into our room until 11 so we are at a local diner having a big breakfast. Will get checked into the room then head over to the state land to hang stands and hunt till dark. We drove around the state land this morning as the sun was rising and there are deer all over the place!!! We saw at least 75 deer in total. 2 shooter bucks and lots of small bucks. It’s frigid here so they are really on the move. Can’t wait to get in a tree in a few hours. Stay tuned, more to come.
  20. Live from BFE Iowa. Almost to Nebraska. Ready to get out of this truck for awhile....Chevy back seats are no good for people with a knee issue lol
  21. Not sure. Attempting to nap in the back seat. But Grampy just needs to look for a white Chevy 2500 pulling a trailer loaded down with coolers, treestands and all sorts of crap traveling about Mach 1 down the thruway. That’s us lol.
  22. Live from the back seat. 1400 miles to go...
  23. Could always swap one in[emoji6] I mean ya might as well if the auto is on it's way out again. If your not looking to sacrifice a good amount from the 19mpg your getting now, any brand gas 3/4 ton is going to disappoint you. The Ford 6.2 will get the highest mpg of the bunch but it's still most likely never going to see 19mpg. The weights your towing on such a regular basis defiantly require a HD truck, so I'd say stick with your current truck and just fix her up. When your financial situation changes down the road you can trade up for a newer HD diesel. If you didn't tow 10k or more on a regular basis I'd say go half ton and enjoy better gas mileage but you'd wear out a half ton towing that much all the time.
  24. TF explained it perfect. But here's a size chart you can glance at so it gives you an idea of what the numbers mean.
