Good to see there's more guys out there with that type of mindset. With rampant laziness in society today it's harder to come by people who have high goals in their sights and are going to get there one way or another. I've got a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old that still need to get off to school before the wifey takes the reins from her dad at his shop. Once that happens, things should get much easier and our life plans will be accelerated tenfold. Until then I'm grinding away 60-78 hours a week to make things happen. I do hate missing out on time with my boys but I hope they can forgive me someday and cherish the type of life we want to provide them with. That and I hope to be pretty much retired by my late 30s. So I figure if I go all out now I can have so many years of free time down the road with them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pretty much same boat here. Wife will go back to work and run her fathers business in a couple years when the little ones are all in school full time. Until then I just work my ass off to get what we want. I could easily get rid of our nice newer vehicles and the 4 wheeler and all the other toys we buy...but....I'm the kind who wants his cake and to eat it too. I refuse to accept anything but the best from life and will continue working harder than the guy next to me to obtain everything my heart desires. Everyone can have everything they want...just comes down to how bad do you REALLY want it. That and my parents are a-holes and have tried to hold me back and tell me I can't obtain anything without their support...well guess what....you were wrong!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lol. Sounds like my old man. He shoots a turkey and I'm still the one carrying lol. These days I have the atv to get my deer out. Won't see me dragging anything anywhere anymore lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I haven't hunted with a range finder since I started bow hunting 13 years ago. My dad has had one and we've used it for practice but other than that it's all off hand judgement. You get used to it after awhile. But that being said...I did just buy myself a new range finder lol. There's the Halo XRT7 and it was on sale for $99. Has the angle compensation for bow hunting so I figured I'd get one for the hell of it. I will just range a few things around me when I get into a stand and most likely put it away after that. It's not a 100% necessary tool but it's a helpful one for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't let them fool you, they don't like it either. I moved down to NC right after high school and the first thing I noticed was that everyone there travels from one air conditioned space to another. Leave your central air house in your AC car to your Ac job. (Unless your a unlucky soul and have to work outside). They all complained about the heat as much as I did and stay inside as much as possible. I like being outside so to me that just seems like a dumb lifestyle so I left after about a year and a half. That and I never could get used to people calling soda, "pop". Not to mention, "pop" has replaced water as the most important liquid for consumption. Never seen people drink so much soda! I hate NY taxes, laws and libs and will someday again leave this state but it won't be for anywhere too far south where it gets hot and humid for 9 months of the year. Iowa has a farm just waiting for me to scoop up in a few years down the road.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is what it is. I personally never like seeing city folk come up and buy or lease anything but there's nothing I could ever do to stop it. Sure there's some city guys who are excellent neighbors to have but a lot of the time it's not a good experience. But in the end it comes down to having that money. You want it? Go make it and spend it. I've got permission to hunt the 50 acres behind my house and I fully intend on buying that land in the near future as the owner is old and her daughter will be selling it once the mother(owner) passes. All I know is that I have to bust my ass at work for the next couple years and I'll get it done. Where there's a will there's always a way! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Trail camera's.....which one?
Adkhunter1590 replied to maytom's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I think your seeing what today's cuddebacks are like. From the 2 I've owned and all my buddies I've never seen one work right for more than a couple days. The old originals were good but they get worse each year. I'm not sure how they are still even in business!? The Brownings are very easy to program in my opinion. And once you set it you can forget it. Just switch the toggle to "On" and it lights up telling you how many pics you can take and how many is already taken and the 30 second delay timer shows up and starts counting down. Very simple. I highly suggest the browning cams! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Selling Out
Adkhunter1590 replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I've been peeking into these political threads off and on...I read a few posts from that numb nut and the stupidity is beyond fathomable that I quickly hit the back button and try to forget I just witnessed evidence of the dumbest form of human life possible. But I read your post and it made me laugh because it's nothing but the truth! Lol. First time I'm actually going to vote...and I have no questions of who it will be! I just sent trailcampro back a Spypoint 10 I bought a month ago. Takes good daytime pics and decent night time pics when it actually takes any....I set it up next to a 10 year old moultrie and it took hardly any night time pics compared to the moultrie on a active trail. Also seemed to get a lot of rear end pics, which is weird because the Spypoint is supposed to have a wicked fast trigger speed. The Spypoint controls were much easier and nicer to use than my 2015 browning strike force but pic quality is very poor in comparison to the browning. Overall it's a ok camera and would work better over a bait pile rather than a trail where the deer are moving along and not stopping for multiple shots. I packaged it up and shipped it back and ponied up the extra $20 for a Browning strike force elite. Supposedly they are even better than the 2015 strike forces so it's gotta be a awesome cam. I should have it back in the mail in a couple days so I'll let ya know! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Took a 85 mile ride this past Sunday and it was awesome with the new tires. We rode about every terrain there can be and the Zillas did awesome. My buddies riding behind me kept telling me when I would grab a hand full of throttle my 750 would throw rocks for 100 ft behind me haha. Soaked a few of them in mud too when it started to rain lol. Overall I have no complaints. I hope they last me at least 2 years. But idk seeing as we ride the machine on a almost daily basis. Not hard but it gets drove around the property and then some hard rides on weekends. Time will tell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow your lucky no dry rot or punctures yet! Lol. I have terrible luck with atv tires. Every machine I've had I had to put beefier tires so I wasn't get a flat every ride. Doesn't help that stock tires from every manufacturer are 2ply. My buddy says its like riding on Bologna skins haha. My machine has 100 miles on it and I wrecked a tire on its first big long day ride the first 4 miles in. It's frustrating to pay 8 grand for a machine that can't handle some Rocky power line trails for more than 4 miles. But o well the problem is solved now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good to hear there's more happy owners. I am headed out tmw morning on a big all day ride through just about every terrain possible so it will be fun to really put these tires through the paces. Thanks for the heads up on the snow. I heard they dig quick if you punch it but once you gain momentum they do a good job paddling your through. Let's see if we even get any snow this winter to find out! [emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If anyone out there is shopping around for some new tires for their atv, take a look at the Maxxis Zillas. I just had a set put on my brute force this week and they are my new favorite tire by far. They are 6 ply so won't puncture easily but are also light weight so they won't rob your machine of power. Grip is phenomenal in every terrain I've been able to find so far. Ride is smooth as stock tires above 5mph. Below 5 you get some tire lug vibration, but with big deep lugs it's to be expected. The best part is that steering is so much easier now compared to stock tires. I don't have power steering on my 750 so it came as huge bonus to be able to steer with half the effort as before! So for anyone looking to upgrade tires I highly suggest the maxxis Zillas. They are also very reasonably priced which was another big surprise. I picked up 4 tires $375 mounted. Can't beat that for what your getting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well I won a treestand photo contest on Facebook for Deer Creek Seed the other day and I just received my prize in the mail today. They sent me 4 3lb bags of different seed blends and a couple coozies. Can't beat that for just sharing a random pic I took from the stand I set up a few weeks ago! I'm pretty excited to get this stuff in the ground in the next couple of days as my summer plots got hammered by drought and over grazing so there's not much left except clover and chicory. So far the deer creek seed co clover that I planted in spring is doing much better than WI fusion clover. I have been impressed thus far with deer creeks seed offerings. Anyone else use their stuff? If your looking for a shop to tune it up for ya, I suggest flying arrow archery across the river in east greenbush. Not far from you at all. I've heard good and bad about them but I've always been treated fairly and the owner absolutely knows his stuff. Prices are on par with every other bow shop I've been to. They are really helpful and take the time to set your stuff up right and then take you in the back to the range to shoot to make sure your good to go, even with a show room full of people waiting. Now it's time to get lots of shooting in before season opener! I stopped at my buddy's house for a min yesterday and was talked into flinging a couple arrows quick. Started at 60 with 3 arrows. Dead on. Went to 70 and flung 3 more and still good to go. Was all the time I had to shoot yesterday but it felt good to be shooting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Has anyone other than me grown...
Adkhunter1590 replied to growalot's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I planted iron clay cow peas and lab lab with a little sorghum mixed in this spring. Drought and heavy grazing pretty much wiped it completely out before it was a foot tall. I had about 2 acres of it planted and the deer mowed it right over. I think if we had normal rain fall amounts my plot would have done much better but right now it looks like a barren wasteland. I actually just went over it and nuked it with Gly about 10-12 days ago. So now it really looks bare lol. Going to broadcast some daikon radishes and winter wheat this up coming week. Probably get some more clover put down as well. This summers drought really put the hurt on everyone's food plots it seems Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Google Albany county tax map gis. You can pull up all the tax maps and see who owns what all over Albany county. I use it all the time when scouting out new properties. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Speaking of PR though....was up there for a ride around tonight. Picked up my new old truck lol. I traded this truck in 3 years ago and just bought it back again lol. Timing was right and I really liked this truck. Once I saw it I knew I had to have it again. Just picked it up after work today. Had to go get a little mud on the tires and look for deer. They are doing some logging up in PR. Lots of deer out and about tonight too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ya know....I thought about that this morning lol. Rob should probably save those pics of the maps I posted and I can edit my post and delete them. But even if that did happen. I still have about 10 other spots up my sleeve that I'll give anyone wanting help. That place is big and it's tough to hunt and scout by yourself. I've gathered my Intel over the last 2 falls with a buddy of mine but it took us awhile. I've had a lot of cameras around that place too....luckily I've never had one stolen. I did have a hunter on my one camera but thankfully he was a good guy and just waved and kept on hiking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

This is the farthest east that PR reaches too. You'll wanna be up into the woods as Far East as the state land goes. There's a rock wall that runs along the south border which is also the edge of those fields. The east border is a little trickier to find but I highly doubt you'll run into anyone who's going to bother you if your a couple feet over. If you stay right around the corner of the second field out from the road you'll be fine. For access I parked on smalley road Walk across the street and there's a small creek there. It's thick as hell there and it's a good thing because most everyone doesn't even bother going over to that side of the road as access is a pain in the ass. But I found that by just walking into the neighbors field for like 20 steps there's a nice deer trail that leads you around the thick crap and into the creek where you can continue to follow their trails up and out of the stream. This path can't be seen from the road so it helps keep other guys out. Most will park at the parking area just up the street and hunt the west side of Gifford valley rd. Once your across the creek just find the rock wall just up your first little hill after it flattens out and follow it up. The fields to the south of those woods are LOADED with deer on a regular basis. And the best part....wait for it.....it's a sanctuary! By that I mean the private owners Do NOT hunt! They own 400 acres there on both sides of Gifford valley road. I know their cousin and asked for permission but was turned down due to wife being a vegetarian and doesn't like hunting[emoji58]. But hunting the edge of their fields on state land is fair game and your sure to see deer coming from the north/northeast, down the hill towards the fields. Hot damn that was a long one! Sorry for the mega details....I get carried away sometimes. Anyways, hope this helps at least speed up getting ya into the woods after a buck with that new bow headed your way! Sounds good. Your right, Partridge run is close by and has some decent hunting. That's where I hunted almost all last season. I ate tag soup but only because I won't shoot little bucks. I passed at least 15 bucks that I know plenty of guys would of shot...and probably did get shot in gun season [emoji849]. The nice part about up there is that there's very very little to absolutely no pressure during bow season. And even after the first couple days of gun season there isn't many people in there. There's also a lot of land there to cover and spread out on. I've spent months walking around that place and still haven't covered every nook and cranny. But I do know of a good spot that I came across one hell of a buck. I will see if I can pull up a map and mark it for ya. If I didn't buy my house and have the land out back to hunt this year I would be headed right for this spot I'm talking about lol. Someone might as well get after him if I'm not gonna! I've got my ears to the ground and many other people on the lookout for land in your area to hunt Rob. If I hear of anything for at least some doe hunting I'll let ya know. If they were giving out DMPs for 4H like they do for 4J I would say come up to my place and stick a doe for some meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
