  1. Lots running around out my way. 3 on my cameras behind my house. Will have to save some pics of them next time I check. Have seen a lot of others ones in the area though on my drive to and from work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. No laundry duty for me either. Shrink a few things and toss colors in with whites and the world ends apparently. Before being married and out west guiding or in school I did all my laundry...everything got thrown in at the same time and never had a problem. But apparently that's not how it's supposed to go. Works for me because I hate doing it! Lol. I guess it's kinda like how I have to mow the lawn because I like it done a certain way and I would also like to keep a set of blades sharp for more than a week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hello all. Looking to make a little room in my garage and I'm thinking its time to let go of my summit viper climber. It's been used maybe 4 times. Just never got into using a climber much so it's time for it to stop collecting dust in the garage. Everything is in great shape and ready to hit the woods. Looking for $175 or possibly trade for other gear. Range finder...certain brands of lock on stands...you get the idea. Located in Greenville, NY. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. And so it begins! Don't worry your not alone. Something always going wrong or needs fixing. My last house we had a propane leak somewhere around the kitchen stove and it drove me nuts for over a year because it was such a small faint leak that you would only get whiffs of it every so often. My father in law tries telling me he smells propane at our new house too but I think he's nuts because I know I'd smell that stuff and so would the 50 other people who have been here. Shortly after we moved in the boiler crapped out, garage roof started leaking real bad, had to replace bilco doors because they were leaking water into basement. Sump pump quit and flooded about 4 inches deep in the basement. Tons of other little stupid things like broken handles and latches etc etc. I still have some big projects I need to finish by winter. Like the garage roof....tarped it back in winter time because I thought we would be getting snow and I didn't wanna do a roof in that weather. So that's gotta be done in the next month or so. My porch needs all new top decking boards. Sides and railings are almost new but for some reason previous owner didn't freshen up the deck boards. Wife wants 2 new Windows in the living room. And new French doors to replace the kinda crappy ones going into kitchen from porch. O and can't forget about the front sunroom that has huge Ancient single pane Windows that are drafty and breaking...it's a corner room that needs two walls torn out and re framed to put in some smaller Windows and a new front door to go along with the new 10x12 front porch I'm supposed to be building off the front too. My wife must think I'm like bob Villa or something I swear.... But anyways....welcome to the club man...plenty of us feel your pain! Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I think paid $14 for a whitetail institute test. Cost another couple bucks to mail it to their lab. Very nice report emailed to me only a few days later. I will absolutely use them again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Romo's pizza or Angela's in Glenmont are the two best for pizza in your area. I work right down the road in the port of Albany and live in Greenville so I guess you can say your in my neck of the woods lol. Any questions on local places give me a shout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If I remembering reading correctly you just moved to the Selkirk area right? Cumberland farms has the smart pay thing to save ya 10 cents off each gallon. It's not a huge discount but I've been using it for 3 years on both my car and my wife's and we've saved a little over a thousand bucks last I checked. And it's the only type of fuel discount I've seen in our area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Dry here too. We got a little rain but it wasn't much. My plots are definitely feeling the pain with the lack of rain. I fear I wasted a lot of money in seed this spring. Will be doing a lot of reseeding before fall Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I run cameras all year long. I don't run all of them through winter though. Usually just leave 1-2 out over winter to keep an eye on what's moving around. Right now I have 5 working cameras and 2 old dead moultries that I use as trespasser bait/deterrence. Planning to add 2 more new cameras by October. I love seeing all sorts of wildlife on my cameras. They are good for more than just deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Nice!! I love watching them grow! I pulled a card today and was surprised by a big ol bear strolling by! Have a few bucks too and a fawn! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Wish I had a tractor with a tiller. But I did get some earth churned up with my atv and groundhog max disc today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well about 30 mins after my last post of sitting in the blind listening to the wind and rain I had some excitement! I started throwing out a few yelps every couple mins out of boredom and all of sudden I think I'm hearing gobbles. Sure enough a few more yelps later and there's 3 of them coming towards me. This went on for another 20 mins. Gobbling to every noise I made on my slate call. 2 of the 3 stayed about 50 yards out on the other side of some thick stuff and couldn't make eye contact. The third one came within 15 yards of my shooting lane but hung up. He was coming down a mowed path that runs into the little field I was setup in. He wouldn't come to the edge of the field though and I don't think he could see my decoys that were off to the left a bit. My blind is almost in line with the mowed path so I could just see him through some brush, he just needed to walk a little farther out and I could of taken a shot with my bow. He stood there gobbling his head off in and out of full strut for 15 mins before finally wandering off with the other 2 who gobbled in the background the whole time. Such a frustrating moment but it sure got the blood pumping!! This all happened around 11am. I'm glad I decided to stick it out and stay in the blind till 12! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I'm sitting in a blind thankfully but it's pouring rain. Had 6 gobblers going at it on the roost. Silent on fly down. Heard shots from the neighboring farm about a half mile over. Hoping that wasn't where my birds went! Haha. They gobbled like crazy this morning while roosted but I didn't get much of a response to my calls. O well. Here I sit until noon and tomorrow is another day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks. He's munching on a dead chicken that I tied up as bait for coyotes. Had one of our chickens not make it through "integration" into the new flock so she became bait. Originally after the dang coyotes as I keep hearing a lot of them howling out back. Was hoping to get some pics and see how many I was working with and if there was specific times they might be coming around. I did get them on camera but it was a couple days after this bobcat ate most of the bait.
  16. Just outside Albany in the hills. Grampy is correct we have a solid population of them around here. These pics are about 150 yards behind my house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Rain or shine I'll be out there. Haven't decided where I want to hunt yet....hit the state land birds opening morning and leave my resident gobbler behind the house alone until Monday morning. Or just get after the one behind the house because I can't stand to listen to him gobble at me one more time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. That is quite the difference! Pretty big ph swing you have there. I am going to send out another 2 samples soon for some expansions I have planned. It will be interesting to see the difference. Since this is my first attempt at food plots on this new property this will be quite the adventure. The neighbor has been bushogging this small field and some trails for quite some years but it's never been planted or tilled. Ground holds water and gets soft in a few areas where natural springs bubble up. But the neighbor also has about 2-4 acres of field that is just grass field that I plan on asking permission to till up and plant. He's a great guy and I'm sure will have no problem with it. He's encouraged us since we moved in last fall to use his land, pond, trails and even his tools for whatever we want to do. Even told me to install our new solar panel array on his property so it didn't take up and space in my yard! I will have to take some pictures so everyone can see what I'm working with as I think it will be a neat setup without a huge amount of land. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Glad to hear you also have positive experience with them! I haven't called and talked yet but I will be soon...I want to know the difference in lime and fert for another seed blend. So far I'm impressed with them! Hoping their seed is just as good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hello everyone. I just received my results from whitetail institute on the soil sample I sent to them using their test kit you can buy from them or cabelas/other stores. Just figured I would post up my results in case anyone was wondering about their test kits and what their report back would look like. Overall very simple and quick process. I mailed the sample Monday morning and they received Wednesday...had my results Thursday afternoon in my email. I think the layout of the results is easy to read and well suited towards our needs for wildlife food plots. Great investment for anyone thinking of doing food plots! 21. I agree there is no perfect blind. They all have their pros and cons. Just depends on where and what you need it to do and you buy accordingly. On a side note....it's killing me every morning when I get home from work and listen to this big ol gobbler thundering away about 150 yards behind the house and most likely in the field where our blind is set up now. Sunday can't come soon enough!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Some blinds aren't as big as others. I too dislike small blinds as it gets uncomfortable to shoot my bow from. But the one we just set up today is the perfect size for two people and has plenty of room left over for gear and whatever else. Some are also easier than others to setup. But I've noticed that after a few uses, they get much easier to pop up. They can be quite stiff at first.
  23. Put out our new ameristep blind with my son today. Just behind the house we have a little field and a nice resident flock visiting all the time. Hoping my son gets to see home action come next weekend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. A few buddies of mine have frontiers...decent trucks....mpgs are mid teens around town and high teens to possibly 20 on the highway maybe a touch more depending on several factors. I feel your pain on the Chevy. I bought a 2007 new body style with 5 thousand miles on it back in 2008. It was lifted with big tires and fully loaded so when I saw it I had to have it. Big mistake. Drank oil as fast as it did gas. The center console broke away from the floor boards. Tons of electrical issues. 2nd day I had it I was already back at the dealer for just about EVERY light on the dash being lit up. O and did I mention it drank a TON of oil? Top it off with embarrassing power and a tranny that couldn't pick a gear to save its life. Traded that truck off after a little over a month of ownership. Will never own a Chevy again
  25. Another vote for the Yota. I'm also looking for a mid sized truck and have been sold on the toyotas. I'm just waiting for VW to buy back my Jetta TDI in the next upcoming months so I can go get a new truck. I don't trust GM as far as I can spit. Their reliability has been terrible and they just can't ever seem to produce anything decent on first year releases. Colorado may be a decent truck but after owning Chevys before I'll stay far away from them. A lot of friends have the tacomas and beat the snot out of them and they keep going. Retarded high resale value and awesome long term reliability are huge selling points for me. I don't care about how much HP or towing capacities for this purchase. But off road capabilities are far superior in the Tacoma and is a big selling point. The aftermarket parts world for tacomas is also very very big. In another year when the wife's lease on her SUV is up we will be in the market for another heavy duty truck though. Hence why I'm not worried about towing or power when looking for my new ride. Will be tough choice to go back to a cummins or try out a power stroke this time around for the heavy duty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
