Does anyone shoot through, shoot through mesh in their blind?
Adkhunter1590 replied to vcollaco's topic in Bow Hunting
I've never actually tested this. But I've always been told that fixed broad heads were ok to shoot through the mesh up to 30 yards but any farther than that and it's gonna play a big effect on POI. And never shoot mechanicals through the mesh. I usually shoot rage and I could never get myself to wanna risk it by sending it through the mesh. O and the final rule of thumb was stiff fletching like blazers don't do so well going through the mesh. And that most times it's the fletching that screws your shot up because the hole caused by the BH is much smaller and blazers won't flex much thus throwing the shot off. Feathers I've heard are best for this. So I guess one would say someone shooting a fixed BH with feather fletching would be good to go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I traded away my beloved F150 3 years ago for a expedition for the wife. I missed that truck every since that day A little over a month ago while looking to replace my car, my wife came across my old truck for sale again at the same dealer I traded it in at. I ran down there that day and bought it back. She's got a extra 30k on her now but still looks and drives just like the last time I had it. I look forward to driving the wheels off of this truck. Or until the Ny winters eat it away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I didn't make it out today. Wife had some things to do late this afternoon so I had the boys. But I did manage to get a new stand hung this morning when I got home from work. I'm not sure how good it's gonna be but I'm gonna give it a try. Small slice of land on the opposite side of the road shaped like a pizza slice and runs about 300 yards along the road. And maybe 150 yards deep into the woods at the corner. It's mostly oaks that are dropping acorns like crazy and there's sign of deer being in there all over the place. There are a couple nice hemlock trees mixed in there so I put a stand up in one of them for cover since the oaks and have zero cover at 20 ft. Also put a camera in there to see what's going on. Two nice trails crossing the property that look to be getting a lot of traffic. Need to go back in tomorrow with the pole saw and trim just a couple branches in the stand and see what happens. Only thing that sucks is that it's close to the road. It's maybe 200 ft. And about eye level once in the stand. Another reason I wanted to be in the hemlocks. My road is a country road so at least it doesn't get much traffic. I did have what appeared to be two yearling does walk up to about 80 yards from me when I was standing out there looking for a tree. They must of caught me moving and got alarmed but didn't spook once I stood still. They eventually changed direction a bit and continued on their way. But they were headed my way originally. This was around 9am. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got home from work at 830am. Slept until 250. In the stand at 310. Wasn't in here 5 mins before 2 doe and a yearling came out of the tall grass and have been wandering around in front of me about 60-80 yards out ever since. Haven't hunted this stand yet. But I like it so far. Nice visibility into this dried up swampy area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I climbed up into my ladder stand Saturday afternoon to find the bottom ratchet strap loose as hell and the stand was moving around quite a bit. Idk how this happened as I was just at this stand like 5 days ago putting bow hangers in. I don't think anyone messed with it, because they would of most likely stole the trail cam that's 10 yards away from the stand. But the strap was REALLY loose. So it makes me wonder if someone did mess with it.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dead here too. A couple tree rats and crows but no deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Back in the woods. Hope to catch something moving towards the pond and oaks. With today's warmer weather they should be needing a drink at some point... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Forum is acting up and makes Tapatalk unusable. Even the reg browser isn't working smooth for me. I found my doe. Shot was a little far back and went through both sides of the rib cage but didn't go through the hide on exit side. Bounced around inside her and tore everything up. She made it across the field and about 30-40 yards into the woods before piling up. Shes already been hung and butchered. Aging her in the fridge now. Should be mighty fine eatin!!

Big doe down!! I was off to a bad start this morning. I woke up late at 620. Good thing my stand is only a 100 yard walk from the garage. Was up in the stand at 630. Jumped two does 60 yards from the stand on the way in. Needless to say I was pissed at myself for over sleeping as it's rare for me to do that. Up in the stand all was quiet with no movement until 8 o'clock a bunch of fog rolled into the field and I caught movement 150 yards to my right on the field edge. 5 deer total were coming out and up along the edge of the field that I brush hogged right to my stand in the corner of the field. They came right to me and I made a 10 yard shot. Shot placement looked good but penetration was terrible!! Half my arrow went in and stopped. Blood went flying everywhere though and she was pouring blood out as she ran all the way across the field and down into a thick nasty creek bottom. I'm not sure why I didn't get good penetration but I am not impressed with these rage hypodermics from that shot. Got a buddy headed up to help me find her and get her out. Will post pics when I find her

Just played cat and mouse with a big mature doe. I wasn't here 15 mins and she appeared out of no where. Just as she was about to break out into my shooting lane directly in front of me she caught a whiff of something she didn't like and stopped. She stood there and stomped around for 5 mins or so and then started circling me to my left. I have a bunch of thick stuff close under me with no shot for a good ways and she just stayed in there and walked back and forth to the edges of two shooting lanes but wouldn't step out. It's like she knew walking out into that little opening meant death lol. She finally wandered off but it got my heart pumping! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was thinking of ordering one myself! Lol. I'm back out in the woods. In the stand this time. On the edge of thick bedding area type cover and hardwoods with acorns all over. Small pond about 75 yards east of me too. Hope to catch some moving from bed to food. Let's see what happens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Momma doe and her two fawns strolled through about a hour ago. Heard some turkeys over to my left where I can't see from the blind earlier too. Nice and dry in the blind though. Had some brief heavy downpours that made me glad I chose to sit on the ground this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Standing in my garage now watching it rain fairly steady. Debating on treestand or ground blind. Thinking I'll go with ground blind to avoid getting wet. Weather app shows this afternoon as being no rain. Will switch to a stand then. Good luck everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Predator Control Is A Must!
Adkhunter1590 replied to Rattler's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Lmfao. Your list of "suspects" will be as long as hillarys deleted emails list....in just one county. So ya better get started on that list of yours Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Well I wanted to shoot this morning before work but I couldn't get my Butt out of bed early enough...long night and head colds suck. But I'm sure the bow is good to go. I did manage to score a sweet deal on the matching wool pants to my cabelas wool jacket last night on archery talk though. I have two cold weather jackets but no pants to go with either one. Finally will have a matching set! Lol. Made me pretty happy that's for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
