Where’s the tourney Grampy? Local or a big one? I’m in Bergen, NJ with a 13u program. We won a BIG one in game 1...5 more (yeah- I said 5!?! Borderline child abuse!) to grab a trophy! Sorry for the hijack! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks Lucky...I can’t seem to find anything on the web about their “shepherds creek.” Is there somewhere i can find some more info? PM if you don’t want TF to know about it since he frequented the area during his young golf career Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Two of my golfers qualified for the NYS Golf Tournament today and we will be heading to Cornell next weekend. Here’s MY itinerary since the kids travel with the team: Friday - sprint to the evening hatch at the Beaverkill and grab a room. Fish the Beaverkill and willowemoc Saturday or make my way to Hancock for the East Branch. Get to Cornell by 9:00pm for opening ceremony/meeting. Sunday (am before kids tee off) - flyfish somewhere—-insert small stream- anyone with local knowledge care to give up a honey hole. Sunday dinner recommendations? Monday- final round - collect trophies! Sprint back to the Beaverkill for the Monday evening hatch. Home by 11:00pm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks great and creative! I like how you called it a “taco” in quotes. Clearly it was not a regular taco (no lettuce) but was a tasty imposter! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What I am doing when I dunk it three times is blindly listening to a wise woman who could make bluefish edible! I have no idea why though- do not change the water- just dunk, remove, dunk remove, dunk remove; dunk and leave....makes no sense to me either but comes right every time! Honestly I’m not sure yet. Since I have no idea what I’m doing that gobble felt like an accident - a happy accident but I just feel better when I know I did something right, not just lucky- setting an alarm for 2:45 sux by the way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hunted Sunday up in Columbia county- NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE hunting turkey for me or my “guide” He bought some dekes and was given a slate caller and we set up off a field where we have seen turkey in the past. Nothing doing until about 8:00 when we were bored and decided to take a walk. (Funny how boredom slip in quickly when you are not confident or knowledgeable about what you are doing). We decided to walk the edge of his property and just look/listen around. We get about 30 yards from our set up; he hits the call and gets a gobble response! Oh shit - now what! We find some quick cover and see a hen and small Tom start walking a trail to us. Pretty sure he was too aggressive as they make their way to a patch of woods and hi-tail it out of there!!! Pretty cool though. Walking out is where I find the first patch of oyster mushrooms and the true hunt was on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry for the late posts-chasing mushrooms, turkeys and baseballs this weekend with little service. I follow a process (more than a recipe) from an old Italian Grandma: Boil a large pot of water. Dunk and remove octopus 3 times then leave it boil for 25 minutes-remove from heat but leave in water for an hour. Cut to pieces to grill(quarter it or so) coat with extra virgin olive oil. Grill on high (HIGH) heat for 3-4 minute per side. Cut to sizes you want to serve- Throw hot octopus right into a mixture of EVOO, juice of lemon, finely chopped cloves of garlic, a sprinkle of crushed red pepper if you chose (which you should!), salt & fresh ground(that’s a must) pepper. Serve hot (or cold but better hot) over and arugula salad tossed with the same oil/lemon mixture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
