We saw a bunch last night (which was great for my boy). My buddy passed on a doe this morning at first light, hoping I would get a shot with my kid with me. Sounds like a great start to the day. I’ve had my hands in butchering 4 deer this season(2 bow and 2 gun). It’s amazing the difference/destruction a gunshot makes. I’m not a “gun guy” to begin with so that plus the havoc a bullet causes on the meat I only bow hunt-long somewhat tangential answer but I would not shoot again- I’m in it for the GOOD meat. I broke out he fryer tonight...French fries for my daughter who eats nothing but carbs(she’s 75lbs at 13-lucky!!); some wings and mozzarella sticks(neither in pic). Panelle sandwiches pictured. Panelle are made from chick pea flour, topped with fresh ricotta cheese and melted shaved Parm in a toasted roll. So I sat over the plot on opening morning and didn’t have anybody show up- probably a better evening spot. Clearly it’s being hit hard- I hope the pic posts because it shows a clear run through the field closets to my ladder. I still think it’s too early for this spot. Sat over the food plot I planted in my buddy’s property in Columbia county this season-looks good- probably a better evening spot but I was happy to sit over something I made! Two doe out of range in thick $hit...nothing else. At 10:00 I got the call my buddy and his father - each took a doe TOGETHER- pretty cool memory for them. ATV’ed them back and then another member of the party called- doe down! Another retrieve and three hanging. I needed to leave by 4:00(wife and daughter were going to a play) as I finished quartering the 3 another guy dropped and nice 8 pointer (his first in three seasons). What a day!
