  1. I faintly remember some shark tooth looking bone found in the hooves of whitetails - anyone know anything about this? If it actually exists, anyone know how to find it and how to remove it? Damn- haven’t seen Wooly in here lately...this is right up his ally- you know HE knows!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Some new ultrafire flashlights (no batteries!?!) and a meat grinder arrived in Santa’s early sled- Mrs clause won’t let me use them until Christmas though!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. This is the video I found most helpful when butchering the hind quarter - this guy does a nice job naming all the part Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Came pretty damn good Between my two 12 year old son and me, we crushed a full French baguette all loaded up. I needed to run out to the meat fridge and grab another chunk of meat from the hind quarter hanging. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Fair point... maybe. Yesterday seemed more like a fluke than the norm- this morning felt like the post full moon hunt. Crisp, cold, DEAD QUIET! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Damn growie that sounds amazing... you inspired me with the onions- here’s the start of venison Philly cheesesteaks courtesy of yesterday’s spike Have no fear- that is not a backstrap- sirloin from the hind quarter which will be sliced thin and pounded thinner Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. After today’s sit in PERFECT conditions, I’m back to being right! Hunting after the full moon in the morning is a waste of a hunt!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Better be backstrap cooked med rare over a garlic rubbed crustini!!!! Maybe a drizzle of horseradish sauce or franks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Where is Jim located? Contact info? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Back in 3s with the bow needing a doe to pop by. After the long day yesterday I wasn’t to excited hearing the alarm but since I told my friend I would go.... here I am. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Bow...long bow at that...honestly he prob didn’t need to hit it again- it’s last run really knocked him out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That’s ridiculous! After just going through a successful track with a dog today, accurate info is critical- I sent pics of shot site, good blood and flagged any change of direction before dog arrived- as a result I got backstraps and a bunch of yummy venison...sorrry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. So “Mrs Clause” ordered them from amazon and they arrived today- they no longer come with the batteries... Wtf? Now I have a Stocking stuffer request too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Crushed some backstrap two nights in a row- this is tonight’s pic. Last night it was covered with browned onion. Rub was from the NY outdoor paper Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Ok Renegade and TF! You win.. I tell the whole story on the Live from the woods thread Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. So I guess I owe TF and Renegade an apology( see the full moon thread) arrowed one this morning after they convinced me in another post that I should hunt after the full moon( I’m not a fan...until today). At 9:15 EVERY squirrel started barking and here comes a deer busting through thick crap. It runs directly toward me but behind a tree 15 yards away. It’s small but I’m hunting a management program that wants all deer (especially does) gone. I stand and draw as it sniffs a scrape under the tree... let down since it’s all kinds of hung up. Starts to walk to the left of the tree, I draw, it sees my movement and freezes long enough for a shot. Trots away, slows to a walk, tail twitching, and disappears in thick crap. I know the shot felt good- give it an hour climb down and find this Track a bit find some good blood Decide to back out when trail runs thin. Call the head of the program who had a tracking dog. He can’t get there until 2:00. Show them the flagged trail and Maisey advances the track 20 yards then breaks off on a wild goose chase. I find blood in another direction refocus the guide and dog and the deer jumps from its bed. Track for another 100 yards and the handler sticks it a final time Wish it was a doe but will certainly enjoy the tender morsels Shot was decent- maybe a bit high- hit back lung and liver-unfortunately sliced the gut which was plugging the exit. Happy days and will be back tomorrow for a doe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I’m in and settled since 6:00. Cold and calm in 3s. Trying a little reverse psychology today- normally I make the mile hike to the back of property. Today I’m sitting near some thick crap by the car that smells like the men’s room at yankee stadium Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Of course I am only kidding...TF and Renegade are alright in my book- in this PC world I feel it necessary to say that I wish no harm on those fine posters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You guys are killing me. This is the most indecisive I’ve been all season since oct 1... I guess I’m getting up at 4:30...laid down at 9:30 now I can’t sleep. When I see NO deer tomorrow my next hunt will be for TF and the Renegade!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I HATE full moons-for whatever reason I never see $hit when there is a full moon. I’m thinking of skipping the “first light” hunt and sitting from 9-12:00 Under the theory that maybe they are up eating under the light of the moon, lay down nearing first light and get back up for a later breakfast nibble. Anyone have a better idea? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Such great stories- how pissed are the puppies when they get pulled off a job without a find? I still remember the look my Brittany threw me the first time I missed a pheasant after he busted it from some tough $hit. I could practically hear him saying,”are you serious? How did you miss that after all my hard work?” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Ultrafire flashlights-been great for the past five years but beat up pretty good https://www.amazon.com/Ultrafire-WF502b-Flashlight-Focus-Lumens/dp/B00OK85KGM Asking for another 2 pack ($17)from Santa ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I threw out 10 empty hot hands wrappers today and it’s barely been cold...plus 5 empty water bottles, 5 peanut granola wrappers and countless peanut chews wrappers. 1 bottle of cheap brandy, 1 empty can of buck bomb, a canister of evercalm (which still stinks) and two bottles of various deer piss. I may have a problem, and worse- my wife might finally be right!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I thought it would be interesting to see how your vehicle’s trunks are holding up. This is mine from Oct 1 until Dec 31(close of bow in 3s). That’s after I cleaned up a bit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
