Long tale from yesterday: Quick am sit yesterday as I got a late offer for yanKees tix(shut up Biz!). 8:15 shot a doe that had 3 fawns in tow. No idea how but shot her back and my arrow passed through but did not fall out. I have a flashing luminock on the arrow which is the only reason I got her. After running off for 30 yards and stopping behind brush I can see the arrow is back. She loops behind me, mouth open and drooling and was at 30 or so in thick crap. Not a shot I would take if it wasn't hit already. Threw another arrow that I thought didn't connect. They all trot off. Wait until about 8:45 to climb down and back out and as I face the tree I see the strobe light about 75 yards away. She and her fawns bed down right there. I climb down, leave climber in tree and take the much longer walk back to car hoping she stays right there until I can come back after giving her 8-10 hours. Go to yankee game, had to leave early to get to my sons football game and then plan to head back around 10. The guy who runs the program said he wanted to look before full dark. Gave him some directions to the area and he saw the flashing Nock from 100 yards away. She never got up from her first death bed. My second arrow actually broke her front leg which is I'm sure why she couldn't leave that first bed. 2 lessons for me: - if not for me seeing that flashing nock before I climbed down, I would have bumped (and lost) that deer. - always throw a second arrow if any opportunity presents And three- I need to go figure out wtf is wrong with my shot. Should have been a chip shot except it all happened too fast for me to "get right" Got her home and skinned and cleaned up(not pretty) by 1:15 and Broke her down and in the deer fridge now (after football practice and Mama Crappy's birthday blackstone brunch (some poor pancake flips to boot!) . No deer pic worthy of the forum as I just was scrambling Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Speaking from my mothers experience (2 separate knees done) the first weeks are the worst and then it gets steadily better and then you start to get frustrated and then one day you are loving it! She HATED PT when they to force it straight. You got this Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How dare you put my food taste in the same sentence as someone who served old jerky? You are hurting your credibility Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I coached the Fordham Prep Rams to a high school championship in 2003(maybe 2004?). I never played or coached volleyball before. I took all the kids who were cut from basketball and any receivers from football who were not playing a winter sport and made them play. My sister (4 year collegiate player) taught me the game and came to some of my practices. Such a fun sport to coach especially kids who never knew how intense it could get. Some of the best trash talkers excelled at the net!!! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know! That's my cheesesteak meat...but we all see the top left corner of that pic. That should never be cubed and compared to backstrap! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And is it true that most supermarket meat has already been frozen? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

While it's all pure venison, as chef described plenty of bits with are not enjoyable. I don't leave any of that on there so not much to circle...unless I were to cut that roast into steaks. I also do Utilize more ground than steaks for my family. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I cannot speak on canned venison. Very little appeal to me so I have never tried it. What is the consistency/Texture of canned meat? What cuts go in the can? Do you eat it straight from the can or use it in recipes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The only venison sausage I have liked was a Brat recipe and the cheddar jalepeno smoked sausage Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm pretty public about my handling of my meat on this forum and pretty meticulous about removing all things white from my venison before I cook it as steaks If you cut the football roast into steaks, you end up with rings of connective tissues through your steaks. That shit is gross. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's silly too. Depth of flavor, enhance the flavor, enjoyable combos of flavors....cheese, toppings and condiments are not meant to "cover up" flavor. However, Condoms are meant to cover up tube steaks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

However the tendons, sinew and other gross bits found within certain cuts (not in backstrap hence any cut for the hind quarter being as good is a silly comment ) are inedible even after running through a pre-chewing machine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What had the blackstone done to deserve such disrespect! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
