This forum is pretty dead without the lively debates. Looking at the posts with the game cam pictures, or the live reports from someones treestand are as exciting as watching paint dry.

Look at a map and see what blocks LI from the rest of the mainland? Just a small dinky town called New York city. They either have to swim a good distance or cross bridges or tunnels that are heavily used by motor vehicles.

Yeah, it would be. I somehow think that if they came thru the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens route, you would have had them gradually make their way out, and you would have had people seeing them more often in those places. I find it unlikely that a few went straight out to eastern LI without stopping for very long in the areas of Queens and Nassau counties. Who knows for sure? Maybe the DEC dropped them from planes in oil drums like they did with the mountain lions upstate? LOL

Dude, you really are a piece of work. You try to pretend that you don't care what the other guy shoots, but then you make underhanded remarks about how inferior those people who choose to shoot the young deer seem to be. You see that's the BIG difference between trophy hunters like you, and people like me who are happy with pretty much anything they are lucky enough to shoot. I could care less if you wait for a buck that's 13 years old and cripple. It's your choice to shoot what you want. Of course, you are not extending that same courtesy to me since you are pissed to NO end with guys like me who are as happy with shooting any deer. And NOPE, we are not giving you any excuses for it either, yet you go out of your way to demean us.

Thanks for verifying that you are not fond of those who shoot those dumb 1.5 year olds. And you don't have to imagine anything about what category I fall under. I will never make an excuse to you or anyone why I shot that 1.5 year old. It's perfectly legal and you can't do anything about it, other than get pissed of course. LOL

Good question. I would go with the swimming across the LI sound theory. If they somehow made their way from NYC, lets say using the LIRR routes, I think you would have had more sightings in Queens and Nassau counties before you'd have seen them as far out as the Hamptons.

Many, MANY contradictions in hunting actually. Of course most hunters won't admit to them. Hunters talk about what's better for the health of the herd and stuff like that, but come on now, lets face it. We know that what's MORE important is what's better for US hunters, and what's good for the deer is secondary. Of course one goes hand in hand with the other, but if there wasn't something in it for the hunter, I doubt hunters would be worried about the health of the herd. Perfect examples here are food plots and AR's. Like people would be spending the time, money, and energy to plant food plots if there wasn't something in it for us hunters in the end?? And let's not even get into AR's. LOL A more self-serving idea has never been devised by hunters!

Oh, and since this thread is about "meat hunters", I am still stumped over why anyone would get excited in the least over eating deer ribs? Now, I honestly don't care what people want to eat, they can even eat the hair and skin for all I care, I use as much of the deer myself as I possibly can, but exactly how much meat are you getting from deer ribs, even if they were prepared in the greatest of ways?? Like a couple of millimeters worth between each rib?? Between the fat and silver skin, I sure as hell don't see much meat there. Maybe you dudes are just pulling our legs here, but I simply don't see what could possibly be appealing about deer ribs???? I think the fat that I'd carve off the deer hind quarters would be less chewy than those bloody ribs!!

Yeah, and I've heard you say in other posts that those who shoot a 1.5 year old buck are shooting the dumbest deer in the woods as a put down to those hunters. You wouldn't hear any excuses from many of us for killing that small buck, but I have a hunch that you still wouldn't like it...

I have a hunch that the only way Team Legend will fill their freezer this year is if they pick up a few road kills. Why did you guys name yourselves "Team Legend"? Surely not because you are legendary hunters?? LOL

This one shot by a friend of my uncles somewhere around the Hamptons sometime this past month. Don't know who the hunter was or the exact location where he hunted, but it's one hell of buck for sure.

Just enrolled Burt in this class to practice those short range shots.
