Just let me know when you want me to post and I will. You guys have your choice of videos, too. Me and Doewhacker with our Tanzanian choir or Growalot's version.

I think I may need to come to the rescue here with the "Kumbaya" videos pretty soon...

Is that the Weather-BEE or the BEE-MW??

Why cant the budget be balanced?
steve863 replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
By doing your patriotic duty and voting, all you have done in recent years is to prolong the nonsense. That's pretty much it. So yes, I "DON'T CARE" to vote to have this crap continue. -

Honestly, whether you elect democrats or republicans they will NEVER shortchange themselves and pass laws to term limit themselves. Just WON'T ever happen. I did not vote in the last few years because I REFUSE to give any of these clowns my vote anymore. I know many consider this a cop out, but look at it this way. If ALL of us decided NOT to vote for anyone and stay home at elections, who would get elected to office then?? NO one. Maybe then these clowns would start getting the picture. I know that this scenario will never happen with all the party loyalists that we have out there, but as long as we keep voting them in just because we tow our party line, things will NEVER change, only get worse. -
I could see some of the forum gang members setting up a road block on I-90, and looking into all the cars to try and find you. All they have to do actually is stop only the BMW's since you told us you drive one, and they have plenty of hunting pictures of you on this forum to know what you look like, too. I probably shouldn't give anyone any ideas though, should I? LOL

What would constitute slander on a forum such as this?? Most of us don't know each other, so whatever someone would say about someone else, or make assumptions about them, honestly isn't worth a hill of beans. People need to take things with a grain of salt on forums like this, and if anything just laugh off what people might say or think about us. Really isn't difficult to do. I for one log on to this site for the entertainment, and don't lose a wink a sleep over anything someone might say or think about me.

Some people I know have seen fewer deer than that in as many years in the Dacks! LOL
-
Boy, I've seen other people claim that their deer was 200+ lbs, but this one looks 350 lbs compared to some of those. Maybe this kid is a small kid, but that deer is a major brute whichever way you look at him!
-
Man, is it my imagination or does that Livingston buck have one BEAST of a big body?
-
I think the problem is that Dinsdale is a bit pissed that a $350 Savage can shoot as well as his $3000 German made rifle. LOL

Site Suggestions & Comments

I think there should be a special forum where all threads that end up in an argument with Belo will be put. On second thought, I think most ALL threads would end up in there. LOL Maybe we can call it the Belo Bellows forum? -
I think the .308 is the absolute perfect round for a kid and even an older hunter starting out. Honestly they will never need another gun for deer hunting. Some will argue that the 7mm-08 kicks less and would be better for the young shooter, but I don't think there is too much of a difference in recoil between the two and you will have way more ammo choices available for the .308, and it will cost less too, since it's more popular than the 7mm-08. For me it's an easy choice with the .308 if you are buying a new gun. If I had an extra rifle in .270, or .30-06 to give the kid, I surely wouldn't buy something new in a lighter caliber just to spare him a few foot/lbs in recoil.
-
Yeah, the .243 will kick less, but it will deliver less of a punch on deer too. In my opinion the .243 is on the bottom of the list of where adequate deer cartridges start (and YES this means that the .223 is even worse. LOL). Yes, the .243 will kill deer, any cartridge will for that matter, but I see it being more of a cartridge for the experienced gunner who can hit his mark with certainty, and NOT for an inexperienced shooter like most kids are. I rather have the kid kicked a little by recoil and at the same time have a cartridge with a bit more punch down range.
-
I'll never understand the philosophy behind looking for a mild recoil gun for a 14 or 15 year old boy. People will let their kids play contact sports like football, soccer, hockey, wrestling, etc. and then they are afraid that his shoulder might get hurt with a gun like a .30-06 or 12 gauge?? Come on now. These guns really aren't that punishing. Put on a good recoil pad, and you won't even feel them.
-
I'd get the kid a less expensive bolt action rifle in something like a .308, and then an inexpensive pump shotgun in 12 gauge. With this combo he's good to go for most anything. I wouldn't give a kid a single shot weapon for taking game, most especially if their time afield will be limited. Not like we could expect a kid to make a perfect shot, so having a quick second or third can mean the difference between a dead animal and one that got away. Nothing that will ruin a kids confidence or their interest in hunting altogether quicker than NOT putting the first animal he shoots down for keeps.
-
Biz, that probably does nothing to help our already poor image amongst society. The best thing to do would have been to move away as soon as you heard the kid, most especially since you did set up close to their property line. Just not worth the trouble dealing with stuff like that. That's why I prefer seeing the fewer deer I do see where I hunt, but at the same time don't have to deal with stuff like this. I just disappear into the woods and NO one sees me.
-
I tell you, though. I do like hunting where the deer are and not where they ain't, BUT, I surely wouldn't want to fight 150 other hunters on those 500 acres for those deer and I don't think I'd like hunting those small private parcels either where a deer (especially while bowhunting) can easily get to other land where I would have to knock on some suburban homeowners door to ask for permission to retrieve the deer in their backyard. That somehow isn't my idea of a nice hunting experience.
-
Putnam county is pretty much suburbia. Suburban areas generally have lots of deer and can hold some big bucks, too. The big problem is access to private land. You either have it or you don't, and if you do it's most likely a small parcel these days. That's why you get 150 hunters on 500 acres of public land in a county like that.
-
Good job! I would think you are better off hunting in Rockland county, since you have a place to hunt there and forget about the Catskills, most especially with a bow. Many parts of the Catskills are like death valley as far as deer numbers are concerned compared to Rockland county suburban type areas and western NY.

If you want to make money on real estate, then you should buy a multi-family home, an apartment house, or similar type of property where you can make rental income. Buying vacant land that you want to lease for hunting or farming will make you chump change. It will be way more trouble than it's worth. Buying property specifically for hunting is also a complete waste. Unless you and your family intends to use it year round, it simply won't be worth it. For the cost of the land, along with taxes, maintenance, etc., you can go on nice outfitted hunts each and every year for a LONG time.

Browning A-Bolt 30-06 New!!!!
steve863 replied to fu2lmao's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
If he showed some appreciation and kept it at least a couple of years, maybe his wife would have given him a nice O/U shotgun in the future. Now he has been sentenced to getting ties, socks, or underwear for the rest of his life!! Good going Citiboy! LOL -

At least you didn't hit him and just wounded him like most of the bowhunters here have been doing. -
For a minute there, I thought you were going to say that she grabbed the stuff from you and started chewing herself .
