Browning A-Bolt 30-06 New!!!!
steve863 replied to fu2lmao's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
If he showed some appreciation and kept it at least a couple of years, maybe his wife would have given him a nice O/U shotgun in the future. Now he has been sentenced to getting ties, socks, or underwear for the rest of his life!! Good going Citiboy! LOL -
Browning A-Bolt 30-06 New!!!!

Oh man, she gets you a rifle and you want to get rid of it right away?? That can't make her feel good. -
almost got my first buck in 4 years only thing wrong .......
steve863 replied to cynthiafu's topic in General Chit Chat
At least you didn't hit him and just wounded him like most of the bowhunters here have been doing. -
For a minute there, I thought you were going to say that she grabbed the stuff from you and started chewing herself .
-
Paula, since you are a woman, maybe you could tell us why any woman would want to kiss a guy who chews on that crap?? LOL

I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I spent an entire day in the field without coming out for a break. And this is in 34 years of hunting deer. Most of the people I've seen coming back in after spending an entire freezing day out were so glassy eyed that they probably wouldn't have seen the deer if it farted in their face. Getting out of the woods, eating a warm lunch, will rejuvinate the senses which is what hunters need to be successful. Just waiting around in hopes something will come by and being miserable at the same time will bag you NOTHING more times than not.
-
Guys, put your stubby little fingers on the DEAD deer first and THEN tell the world that you've got one!!
-
If you fellas want to go at it, go right ahead. I made my statement about the advantage to hunters who don't have teeth and didn't make any claims about where they were from. Dental decay has NO boundaries as far as I'm concerned. LOL
-
For the many hunters among us who don't have teeth, this wouldn't apply. See, there are advantages for the hunter NOT to have teeth. LOL

Can I night hunt on the DEP property?
steve863 replied to WestchesterBowman's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
DEP property may have regulations that are different than what the DEC specifies for state and private land. -
Easy answer. Everyone surely has a reason, but doesn't necessarily need a goal. I like venison, so I hunt in hopes that I might get some. Venison is not something readily available in my local grocery store, so I go out to hunt to try to get some. If I don't get any, then the pork chops are waiting for me at the supermarket. I also like to shoot guns on occasion, so in hunting I am allowed to try to get some meat with that gun.
-
Why does there even need to be a clearly defined goal? Whether we hunt for meat or antlers, it won't be the end of the world if we don't succeed. Hunting is really not that important in the scheme of things. That's where the younger crowd has it all wrong in my opinion. Everything has to measure up to some standard, otherwise it's crap in their opinion. That's a screwed up mentality. There's enough competition and goal minded people in the everyday rat race world we live in. I'll be damned if I will let this type of crap seep into the pastime I happen to participate in. Hunting for many of us is an escape from the everyday human condition, so this "goal" oriented nonsense needs to stay out of it. Yeah, I want to put something down too, when I go hunting, but if I don't, that's OK too. I tried my best, didn't succeed, end of story. Will try again next time.

I still think a caged match would be better. We could get Growalot to introduce you fellas in her deep baritone voice. In the blue corner is Mellow Belo, and in the red corner is Phade the Blade. LOL
-
You know I didn't look at this thread up until now. Wouldn't you know Phade and Belo are at it on this one, too! LOL I tell you, we need to get these two into a caged match or something. Maybe that Four Seasons Whitetail guy who owns the deer farm can lend us one of his pens so we can set these two up for a caged match? The rest of us can come watch. LOL
-
Especially Olga from the Ukraine. She's coming up to your camp with us this weekend. She's deadly with her AK-47. Won't leave many deer for you guys.
-
Burt, you can always dial up one of those ladies whose faces and numbers are flashed on the pop-ups here. And thanks for letting us know that you won't be up there this coming weekend!
-
A handshake with one hand, and a transfer of cash with the other is what will seal the deal. Not that I like that it's become this way, but as time moves on the nice letters, firm handshakes or blueberry pies will get most of us NOWHERE. If you want to hunt private land, you will have to cough up some money. If we aren't at this point yet, it's surely right around the corner.
-
No kidding. I already pinned a filled out DMP tag on the ear of the doe I intend to shoot. Want her to get a little more plump before I put her down. LOL I tell you, some of the boys here who think it's a slam dunk to kill a doe or young buck, ought to hunt where some of us others do. Talk about a humbling experience, they would surely have one!
-
What makes you think everyone hunts in a location where they will see doe or young bucks (meat deer) at any time of the day?? A lot of us envy you guys who have places to hunt like that. I can assure you many of us have to get our butts out pretty early in the morning to see ANY deer.
-
I thought that was the problem with the previous low end model 770?? The 783 is a completely different, redesigned model.
-
I've heard some good reports on the 783. It a whole lot better rifle than the previous low-end model they had out. I'd definitely consider the Ruger American, though. Some really nice features on that one. These lower priced rifles are not things of beauty, but you DO get a heck of lot for your money with them. They are pretty much just as accurate as higher cost models and will kill deer just as dead.
-
What I mean with frustration is all the BS that is associated with hunting, such as trespassers, people stealing your stands and property, difficulties in finding property to hunt, not drawing doe tags, etc. Take up some other outdoor activity and you don't have to deal with any of this. Yeah, success is what you think it is, but to me when it comes to hunting, success is putting something on the ground. I hear people saying that it doesn't matter to them if they put something down or not, as long as they are out amongst nature, but to me that doesn't cut it. I can go into the woods at any time of the year if putting an animal down is not the goal. Why wait for hunting season to do it then? For me waiting until hunting season to have this "nature" experience is quite silly and honestly just an excuse by those who really are not very good at hunting.
-
What will up your chances of success with a bow is TIME. If you don't have a good amount of time to devote to it, you surely won't be successful, if successful means putting a deer on the ground. Giving it only a couple of weekends each year typically won't be enough. If someone wants to put deer on the ground with less time spent in the field, then stick to gun hunting. I would definitely agree with Phade that if enjoying nature is your measure of success, then definitely DON'T waste your time with bowhunting OR gun hunting. Plenty of better and less frustrating ways to enjoy nature ALL year around.

Well, if it's true I'm sure you'll get offers to do porno flicks after the hunting documentary comes out. Just as in "Debbie does Dallas"' you'll be the star in "Tiny TreeGuy does Toledo". LOL
-
Yeah, he could title the documentary "Tiny TreeGuy goes a huntin". LOL
