Boy oh boy do you beat this to death. Like someone doesn't know the meaning of "hunting" unless he's out to kill a huge buck? LOL No way, bud. I'll tell you what "hunting" is to me. I've now got my young son hunting with me for the last five seasons and nothing could be greater as far as "hunting" is concerned and we are creating memories that will last us until our last breath on this earth. It matters mighty little what size deer either of us kill or if we even kill any. I have given up some of my own limited hunting time to be able to take him along with me but could care less. It don't matter one tiny bit that I may have not been out there at my spot when that monster buck walked by. The memories that I will have hunting with my son and passing down the tradition to the next generation of hunters is way MORE important than any huge antlers on the wall. Now my sons cousin (my nephew) has been saying that he want to try hunting also. Hopefully I can now add even another young man to the next generation of hunters. This in my mind far outweighs any dust collecting trophy buck on the wall. In fact it's NO contest between the two.

As will a .30-06, .308, .30-30, 7MM Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, etc. etc. And of course there are still new cartridges coming out every day it seems that claim to be better than any of the older ones. All BS in my opinion and only brainwashing people into thinking they need to buy something new that will work better. A guy who knows how to hunt and can shoot straight will kill deer with any of them just the same.

NY voting for a republican president probably not unless we get another Reagan, who actually won NYS both times. For Governor, absolutely we could get a republican to win. Pataki was a three term governor and that wasn't too long ago. The difference in votes between Hochul and Zeldin could be surmounted if you had a Republican that didn't kiss the likes of Trump's butt at every opportunity. That turned off even many republicans in NYS against Zeldin.

New York would have voted her out if the Republican candidate for Governor wasn't up Trump's butt the way he was. That's what killed it for him. Otherwise he would have taken her down. The total votes for the Zeldin weren't too far behind her. Trump a New Yorker or anyone else who supports him the way Zeldin did can't win in this state. Also, out of almost 20 million people residing in NYS less than 6 million voted. Enough of those not voting are registered republicans. That doesn't help matters either. Now you've got Hochul for another 4 years.

Hopefully it didn't take you too long to decide whether to wax the shower with a soft bristle toothbrush or hard bristle. LOL

I'll say that you are blessed with a great property. Most places I've ever known it would take YEARS to kill bucks of that caliber nevermind killing them all in one season. I think you told us that you leased a property across the road from you or something like that this year. My question would be why on earth would you spend money on another lease with plenty of deer on your property? It's your money I guess, but I sure as hell wouldn't if I had deer like that roaming my property.

There must be some psychological diagnosis for folks who constantly think that everyone is jealous of them. I recommend you seek professional help.

Yet you said in your prior post that the extra $25 he was charging you for the cape was rubbing you wrong. If your time as an amateur butcher is worth $40 an hour I think this butcher is processing your deer for next to nothing and you should be grateful. I surely wouldn't cut it up for you for that price.

Do it yourself and the only thing it will cost you is some time. I still find it hard to understand that hunters who claim to have years of experience take their deer to a butcher to be processed.

No, I didn't miss the point. I get exactly what you are trying to say but I'm not buying it. Leaving the windows open or closed at any given time will make no difference in my opinion. A deer will walk by when they feel like it. Leaving the windows open when you are not there won't make them any more likely to get comfortable with the blind being at that spot then if you kept them closed. Maybe they'd get more used to it if you kept the windows open with a table full of corn on the inside where they could stick their heads through and eat it, but otherwise I doubt they could give a crap.

You are giving deer way too much credit for their intelligence if you think closing the windows will scare them away.

Only in New York will you hear them claim that they want feral pigs eradicated yet they don't want hunters to shoot them. Sort of like them telling us that they are making our communities safe from crime yet they let criminals out of jail the day after they arrest them. Complete joke.

I never understood those see-thru mounts. You either use a scope or go with open sights. You make your decision beforehand. I don't think the decision should be made moments before you are about to make a shot at a deer. I'd surely screw things up at that moment if I had to choose between the two options. In my opinion the biggest problem with those see-thru mounts is that the vast majority I've come across over the years are made out of aluminum. Some out of very flimsy aluminum. Any centerfire rifle I own has solid steel mounts on it. Steel beats aluminum any day of the week for scope mounting and the little extra weight it might add to your rifle is well worth it. I could live with aluminum mounts on a .22 rimfire but centerfire rifles get steel.

Agreed. These dealers are then just as bad as the politicians who passed this law. I get that this law seriously hurts their business and wastes a lot of their time. I feel for them, but if they are tacking on fees that are several times those mandated by the state then they are screwing gun owners just like the politicians are. This is one reason I prefer buying hunting items from big box type stores like Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc. In my experience it has never felt like the big box stores try to screw me as much as the small dealers do.

This post is dedicated to the members who falsely accuse me of never posting anything hunting/shooting related. Got this gun two weeks ago. According to the serial number it's a vintage 1967 Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage caliber. Bought it for practically nothing. One of the best deals of my life. Nearly mint condition. Scope is only a 4x Tasco but it works. Finally got to shoot it two days ago and it shoots and functions great. Ammo for it is currently a little hard to find but I even got a box of ammo in the deal. I have more than enough guns than I need or could use and I'm not a collector but couldn't resist getting this one. An American classic hunting rifle if there ever was one for sure!!

If you think you are somehow more respected than Grampy on this or any forum you are even more delusional than we first figured. That is pretty much all I need to say.

Funny how some will make every excuse in the book to defend this forum. The reality is that it's a complete bust in every way. No new members allowed, very little activity, ads coming out of it's ears, home page last updated five years ago, etc. etc. A complete joke of a forum. And NO, I have never registered onto the new forum before someone accuses me of that.
