New York would have voted her out if the Republican candidate for Governor wasn't up Trump's butt the way he was. That's what killed it for him. Otherwise he would have taken her down. The total votes for the Zeldin weren't too far behind her. Trump a New Yorker or anyone else who supports him the way Zeldin did can't win in this state. Also, out of almost 20 million people residing in NYS less than 6 million voted. Enough of those not voting are registered republicans. That doesn't help matters either. Now you've got Hochul for another 4 years.

I'll say that you are blessed with a great property. Most places I've ever known it would take YEARS to kill bucks of that caliber nevermind killing them all in one season. I think you told us that you leased a property across the road from you or something like that this year. My question would be why on earth would you spend money on another lease with plenty of deer on your property? It's your money I guess, but I sure as hell wouldn't if I had deer like that roaming my property.

If your time as an amateur butcher is worth $40 an hour I think this butcher is processing your deer for next to nothing and you should be grateful. I surely wouldn't cut it up for you for that price.

Do it yourself and the only thing it will cost you is some time. I still find it hard to understand that hunters who claim to have years of experience take their deer to a butcher to be processed.

No, I didn't miss the point. I get exactly what you are trying to say but I'm not buying it. Leaving the windows open or closed at any given time will make no difference in my opinion. A deer will walk by when they feel like it. Leaving the windows open when you are not there won't make them any more likely to get comfortable with the blind being at that spot then if you kept them closed. Maybe they'd get more used to it if you kept the windows open with a table full of corn on the inside where they could stick their heads through and eat it, but otherwise I doubt they could give a crap.

You are giving deer way too much credit for their intelligence if you think closing the windows will scare them away.

Only in New York will you hear them claim that they want feral pigs eradicated yet they don't want hunters to shoot them. Sort of like them telling us that they are making our communities safe from crime yet they let criminals out of jail the day after they arrest them. Complete joke.

I never understood those see-thru mounts. You either use a scope or go with open sights. You make your decision beforehand. I don't think the decision should be made moments before you are about to make a shot at a deer. I'd surely screw things up at that moment if I had to choose between the two options. In my opinion the biggest problem with those see-thru mounts is that the vast majority I've come across over the years are made out of aluminum. Some out of very flimsy aluminum. Any centerfire rifle I own has solid steel mounts on it. Steel beats aluminum any day of the week for scope mounting and the little extra weight it might add to your rifle is well worth it. I could live with aluminum mounts on a .22 rimfire but centerfire rifles get steel.

Agreed. These dealers are then just as bad as the politicians who passed this law. I get that this law seriously hurts their business and wastes a lot of their time. I feel for them, but if they are tacking on fees that are several times those mandated by the state then they are screwing gun owners just like the politicians are. This is one reason I prefer buying hunting items from big box type stores like Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc. In my experience it has never felt like the big box stores try to screw me as much as the small dealers do.

This post is dedicated to the members who falsely accuse me of never posting anything hunting/shooting related. Got this gun two weeks ago. According to the serial number it's a vintage 1967 Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage caliber. Bought it for practically nothing. One of the best deals of my life. Nearly mint condition. Scope is only a 4x Tasco but it works. Finally got to shoot it two days ago and it shoots and functions great. Ammo for it is currently a little hard to find but I even got a box of ammo in the deal. I have more than enough guns than I need or could use and I'm not a collector but couldn't resist getting this one. An American classic hunting rifle if there ever was one for sure!!

No, this is not the first year. Not sure when it started or if they ever weren't able to get DMP's but non-residents have definitely been able to get DMP's for a good many years now. In most cases chances for selections are a bit less for non-residents, especially on chances for a second DMP or in areas where there are fewer DMP's given out.

How the hell does someone equate that photo to a modern day turkey poacher? Maybe if there was a turkey decoy in the photo you could argue that but otherwise that photo most likely represents a deer or predator hunter sitting up against a tree. Many states don't require blaze orange to hunt. I guess some people think that everyone is up to no good.
