I'll be taking my 14 year old daughter out for her first "real" deer hunt. She's gone out and sat with me many times over the years while I hunted. She shot her first turkey this past spring, so she's excited to try to get her first deer this fall too! Hoping that pink camo knife that I bought her yesterday will bring her some luck!

My cabin doesn't have electricity. We've had it now for 14 years. Honestly, I don't miss it or feel I need it. Propane lights, stove, and refrig (even have a propane oven, but have never used it), that just runs off of regular grill sized propane tanks. I heat with a woodstove. I have a deep cycle battery and inverter, for what little juice I need (small TV, charge cell phones, etc...). Been toying with the idea with getting a small solar panel to keep the deep cycle battery charged, but for what little I use it, I only take it home 1-2x/yr to charge it anyway, so it's no inconvenience.

Just thought I'd put out a reminder that the youth deer season is this weekend, Oct. 12-14th. Don't know if it'll impact how or where you plan on hunting this weekend, so I just thought I'd mention it. No need to turn this into a debate....

Can you just use a climber? Sucks that you have to do that in order to not have to worry about your stands, but......

If you're concerned about the deer smelling the coffee, you could add a little doe urine to the coffee! Might bring 'em in?? If you try it, you may as well rinse your mouth out with doe urine too, to get rid of that coffee breath too!

Are you brushed in at all or just standing against the tree? Maybe make yourself a natural blind to break up your outline or use a pop up blind?

Vince, if your sore from the hike, imagine how sore you'll be after dragging one out! LOL Can you use a deer cart in that area? Keep at it! Sounds like you're narrowing things down, so it will all come together for you one of these days!
