  1. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Police-shadow-black-clad-protestors-as-they-march-through-Seattle-streets-302270231.html Getting a bit ridiculous at this point. WTH is May Day anyway, never heard of it before. Seems aimless to me, all they did was tear down their neighborhood.
  2. in season or outa season i woulda shot him if he got that close to me. sorry i take no chances.
  3. Apologies. I was just trying to point the previous poster to this event. He was talking about the guy who was shot and killed by a police officer over a traffic stop. That was last week.
  4. They saw the kid running. Gave chase, takled him, broke his back, chained hands and legs, tossed him in back of police van, he got a rough ride and broke his neck when it slammed into back of van, all because he was running and they didnt know why.
  5. I usually keep my guys on leashs. Guess if she gets outa my sight and comes peeling back im screwwed. But shes a huge rotty so im good
  6. bears freak me out, city kid what can I say. I just keep bear spray at the ready and one of those mini fog horns in my pocket. and always keep my hand free. never seen one in the woods though. course when im camping I keep my dogs around and always try to remember to walk upwind. oddly enough when im hunting I never think of them till I see sign
  7. Doubling minimum wage is not the soljtion to the disapearance of mid lvl jobs in america. Just gonna create more problems and people will wind up withe the same need for socjal services in the long run. The system will correct itself in a few years if u forget to add value to the equation.
  8. Not what im saying. America aint a thied world. But take the whole 15 dollar minumum wage. Fast food jobs making that kinda money is crazy. Those jobs arent meant to take care of a family. Used to be for kids. Or a story about a janitor in the schools crackin 100K a year wth... how does a public school janitor make that kind of money. Or when the mta held new yorkers hostage over their contracts. All that happened is we wound up payin more for a fare. In certain fields when they get increases the unions fight for taxes go up or prices increase with no gain in value.
  9. I am not totaly afainst unions in fields where needed. But when it comes to low lvl jobs and even some skilled labor fields they drive costs way up. So companies respond by shipping jobs overseas. Corp greed plays a huge role. But u cant rip an exec from his office. U want to fix it... make it more expensive for them to do business overseas than it is here. But then u piss off alot of people who put the politicians in office. And that aint u and me
  10. Recently there was a video of a white guy charging a cop and the cop showing amazing restrain because he was told the guy would commit suicide by cop. In another recent video a cop didnt have his gaurd up and his body cam showed a white male kill him. After the cop let him go inside his home or something. If those "perps" were black neither situation would have ended the way it did. The justice system has always treated blacks differently from arrests to incarceration. Slice it and dice it any way u choose. The war on drugs is a perfect example. Used to work for an advertising agency as a kid and my boss was a stone hard weed head. Course she was rich but her drug dealer was black. Her and her friends would come in and do talk about it. Was crazy. So its bs to think u take a greater risk with black people. White people got just as much dirt the system just deals with races much differently. White officers give white people much more passes as they can use discretion. Personally i dont give a crap and it wont change till the police force, politicians, lawyers and judges ant mostly white. And with immigration the way it is thats right around the corner. It pains me to see how so many people cling to this race bullsh@t around the world. Instead of tryin to find solutions they cling to hidden prejudice and it seeps into there kids and they dont even see it. Letting a country built on immigrants go to crap over race is the most asinine thing in the world
  11. No. And niether did the parents who went upstate to protest for charter schools in ubderserved communities. U asked where were the protest for jobs and education... there u go. Now please stop generalizing
  12. It was poorly executed but it made a point of highlighting the shrinking middle class.
  13. Occupy wall street. And that morphed into a number of diffrnt movements. Parents in ny protesting to keep charter schools open in poor neighborhoods with failing schools as well. If u cared to look beyond your assumptions u would see alot more good than bad.
  14. I agree. Its the only way to stop these savage animals from destroying the place. Maybe if police would just start putting these animals down like the filthy beasts they are they would learn to stay in there place.
  15. I will make sure next time whites start destroying things because the team they love so much loses to make a discuss post and see who says stuff like animals and whites just doin what they do. As far as education it does start at home. But in broken homes u ofyen get patents who dont have a good education. Add to it a union run school system who keep bad teachers who dont care teaching who end up getting shifted to low income schools creating more of a problem. And when solutions are offered through non unionized charter schools that show rrsults the union and their politicians try to shut them down. I grew up in that. My kids avoid it because i draggd myself out of it. Anyone who cant see a problem other than what they feel is black animals just doin what they do is just another closed minded individual luvin in a bubble who cant see past there front yard in a nice safe neighborhoood. There are plenty of upstanding citizens protesting. Not just criminals who a few here like to use as an example of them all. But that doest feed into the narrative of the black animal i see thrown around so much. I am not an exception, and i hqve never been savage animal.
  16. Probably one of the most difficult jobs there are. problem is they make life altering decisions that take other peoples lives, and when they make bad calls they aren't held accountable because other cops say stuff like " don't worry I got your back". social Media and the internet and Cell Phone Vids are just shining a HUGE spotlight on how often police kill unarmed black men who do questionable things. Don't get me wrong a lot of people down there are just taking advantage of this to cause trouble and should be punished accordingly, as should officers who abuse the power given to them and make bad calls that take peoples lives. But of course people assume that the police always make the "right call" and everyone they kill is a perp and when people get outraged and protest they just don't get it. My own wife does the same thing, overgeneralize and say what is wrong with black people. then I have to remind her she has two black sons one of which is in a Gifted and Talented school and she corrects herself. the people doing this are poor, uneducated, criminals who feel they have no way out, some who probably wouldn't take a way out if it was handed to them on a silver platter because they are CRIMINALS. when other races riot you never hear people say whats wrong with white people, whats wrong with arab people, whats wrong with Irish or Philippinos. crap like this could happen to any race in any country, its a people problem and in my opinion it all stems from a lack of education in a welfare state in places where there are huge pockets of crime and poverty. add perceived police/military/government abuse and there will always be a tipping point. you want to fix this, educate, rehabilitate and find ways to grow the middle class and create jobs instead of shrinking the middle class and turning america to a piss pot of idiots who overuse credit creating bubbles that ruin the economy.

http://money.cnn.com/2014/02/17/news/economy/military-food-stamps/ heard about guys who were on food stamps when I was in the army and always thought that was crazy, and I don't know to many soldiers that don't drink. so I guess we got alotta men who serve who are scumbags. Growing up my father and mother divorced. She got the house, a washer, a dryer and child support along with two minimum wage jobs, HEAP and Food Stamps. She had 3 kids and we all turned out to be fine hard working American who pay taxes and take vacations. My wife fly's to the Philippine's once a year and I get to camp/fish/hunt and buy a camper and 2015 Forester. everyone has bumps in the road god willing we all make it through to higher ground. do some abuse the system, Yup and it pisses me off knowing. is it as bad as this thread makes it sound. nope. Want to reduce it, write your congressman and get them to do things that better educate kids, promote trade school for kids who just are not built for college, bring jobs back to American soil. do I know everything, nope...
  18. Love d earth. Use it on both my dogs before we go in woods. Permathin is great for me and my wife. But for my kids i dont like it. Iput garlic in there pockets and use a natural repelent. Wonder if a light dustjn of dia earth would work on them hehe. Started a lavendar garden and gonna keep clippings from them on the kids as well when hiking tis year. Stuff u do to enjoy the outdoors is crazy
  19. My six year old shoots with the one that stays on the string. Like long kisser button. Cant think of the name. I like i better because its one less thing to remember he has
  20. sitting top of the world one day, beggin for a dollar the next. you never know so i try not to judge unless i have all the facts. from the looks of it if it was a poacher he was prolly just after meat. personally i would rather a guy who can hunt go grab his own meat if his family is starving then go beggin the government for help. seeing a dead dear with his head chopped off and the body left to rot would piss me off waaaaaayy more than comming accross a guy carrying a doe outa the woods outa season unless that guy was shooting a golden AK47 just my opinion
  21. I agree here. I dont see any social order and i dont look at it like that myself. I just go by my experience with all three instruments in how long it took me. I just see it as a which was harder for me and that is rrcurve and crossbow easiest to group good with. I dont think i ever said or implied one was better rank wise. If i did my bad. But ive heard guys puttin xbow guys down for huntin with it and think thats bs. Not everyone can put in the time to shoot a 200 pound longbow. There all tools use what u like and what time alows u to perfect enough to make a quick kill
  22. Have only been shooting for 3 outa the 35 years i been on this earth and u are the first person i ever heard say they dont give a head nod of respect to trad shooters. One day at my indoor range i was stackin arrows within 3 inches. Doesnt hapen all the time but i was doin good for a few sets keepin pace with compund shooters with no sight wnd got a few compliments and questions. I took up the recurve and shootin off instinct for the challenge. I picked up the xbow and the compound because it doubles my 20 and under range. In my opinion any trad kill is a great achievement because of the time. One MUST invest to stay sharp with the skill. Sorry but i just have to put yhat out there on that one. As far as the technology being out there and using it im with u on that point. But like all things we should learn and respect our history. And it was my old walk to school barefoot grandmother who made me understand that
  23. I currently shoot Recurve, crossbow, Compound. took me 2 years to be able to instinctively/Gap shoot to be able to put a group in the ten ring at 20 yards sometimes i think about it sometimes i dont. Compound, after a month of shooting and getting over the awkward feeling of swtiching between recurve and compound i was touchin arrows consistently at 20 yards and groupin at 30. Crossbow... pfft i got one for my wife and she was knocking em down like it was nothing. she has since forgotten about it in place of a compound and i took the crossbow for me own... its insane how easy it is. goin on a fishing trip with some buddies from work and gonna bring the crossbow and let them shoot it out inthe woods to see if i can get in interested in hunting. Crossbows are definitly a good thing for the sport here and with people not having the time to invest in other implements i think it has the potential to expand the sport here in NY.
  24. This is my second season hunting, first season was strictly with a recurve and I took a bad shot on one deer and was jumpy about taking shots on deer after that. this year was my second season and I had plenty of shots at deer but found that my issue was knowing when to draw my recurve and what the deer was "likely" to do when they came in so i could set up close enough to get a shot. at seasons end I decided next year I will be using my crossbow a lot more as it would have opened up a lot more shots for me and kept me from getting busted. and nothing I learned about a crossbow I didn't pull from the hunters/archery education class if there was a class to teach how to hunt I would be all in, but I don't think my bad shot or missed opportunities had anything to do with the weapon I was using, its just tough learning how to hunt without someone to guide you along the way. and on those days when I was freezing and holding a bow waiting for a shot your nerves really get to you and mistakes happen when you don't have experience or your just plain and simple drained. I personally found the hunters education class useful but redundant and only paid the most attention to the experiences they shared and bits of knowledge that was shared about hunting more than anything. going to a class dedicated to crossbows in my opinion isn't needed and could be added to the hunters education class. a class specifically dedicated to going over the basics of hunting different animals (the do's and donts ) would probably go over much better. course they did do that to some degree in my hunting class and gave me a dandy little book which I always keep in my pack. but most of the limited information I learned came from time in the woods and you tube
