  1. I went after fox last weekend and saw a herd that was big, fat and happy, they looked pretty healthy to me and they will make it through this cold with fat to spare...they look surprisingly well...
  2. John, Yup, they mean light gathering device aka night vision with or without IR. The "starlight" was a brand name back in the 70's and I guess they stuck with the name. Yes, night vision is legal in NY
  3. You are welcome, right there I just saved you 100 hours of scouting...LOL Let me know when you out here maybe we can hook up and shoot some dogs...
  4. WOW, Nice to see some fellow hunters being Jets fans, I understand it is all about being Green, right? LOL That was an awesome game, to shut Brady and BB up at their own house for the second time this season ...priceless... Next stop ketchup place, wait, didn't we beat them just few weeks ago? I hope Rex will bring his A game....Jets are way overdue for a SuperBowl appearance...
  5. Yup, been there, done that, nothing to write home about....good looking area just no game...and it is getting a lot of pressure...
  6. John, Don't get too exited about Cranberry or GreatSwamp, they look great on paper but in reality Cranberry is way overcrowded with dog walkers and whatnot...make sure you clearly see your target and what's behind it. I was at GreatSwamp for the last 2 weekends did not even see any tracks, no dogs, no foxes... I saw few pheasants that's all and tons of people skiing, walking dogs and just annoy the %#$@%# out of me...If I were you I would consider Sterling Forest it is a bigger place to hunt plus probably even closer to you than Putnam County. Cheers
  7. John, How did you make out? Let us know... Thanks
  8. same here, one red, one gray, plenty of squirrels but no yotes yet
  9. Hit me back when you are around here next time (I'm in Dutchess) I would gladly join you and maybe learn a thing or two...
  10. Awesome, it is refreshing to see not so successful stories and footage. Keep them coming please. Where do you guys hunt? What county?
  11. Thanks for the link, I was thinking about this one http://www.elusivewildlife.com/products.htm?section=22&p=productMore&iProduct=155 Anyone got this one yet?
  12. I was wondering if you guys ever did that, I was thinking about it for a while now, I have nice 30 acres with couple of deer stands and plenty of activity at night but it is kinda residential area and shotgun or even .22 would tick the neighbors off for sure. They can handle deer season due to the fact that everyone around is hunting but now after the season is over and especially at night I bet they would call cops on me. Now, with a bow is a different story, I was thinking to get that small kill light XLR 100 with bowmount and go after foxes and coyotes..... Any pros or cons you can share, any advice...?
  13. ...again...just need to know base price for this baby....what do you have in mind? $100 or $1000....I always wanted an AK for myself just need to find an "economical" one I guess...
  14. What up Marty? That's cool, maybe we can hook up and hit the stands together. Being honest I'm getting tired of the day stands, nothing comes to it...too crowded neighborhoods we live in... I see tons of tracks in the snow just nothing shows up during the day. I tried 4 AM and 4 PM with the same results... nothing...I'm thinking hitting the stands with a bow at night time...or even air gun to keep things quiet...let me know if you are up to it... Regards
  15. Looks nice...how much? ball park at least...
  16. What I do is this: I have a local trapper on my speed dial and he said he will take anything from my hands, maybe this is something one can do in the situations like that My 2 cents
  17. No problem Bill, will do...Where do you park when you get to Niham? At California Hill I go all the way Waywaywanda CT, by the water, I will be getting there more often as it seems to be a center of that location, so you can walk in all directions. I have been at Niham once or twice and don't know that place to well, I will have to do more scouting there
  18. OK, I get it now,Thanks... time to get that Marlin in .22winmag with 18 rounds then :-)
  19. I have not seen one yet, we have plenty of foxes in Dutchess though. I do visit state land in Putnam, California Hill, Cranberry (for pheasant), Niham....etc have not seen another caller there either, I'm sure people are out there maybe it was the timing thing
  20. Where you at Bizaro? I'm in Dutchess 30 min from you....Where do you hunt? There are "few" people that routinely call in your area... as of now I use fox calls and rabbit in distress, starting next month you can start hauling "dog songs"....
  21. OK, I get the "auto" part but how about that drum that hold about 50 rounds, is that legal in NY? Here is where I don't understand WTF the law means, can someone dumb it down for me please...? This is straight from the NRA-ILA website about NY gun laws: " “...Large capacity ammunition feeding device” means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device, manufactured after September 13, 1994, that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition. There is an exception for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition..." My "cricket" aka GSG-5 semi-auto replica of MP-5 in .22 came with 10 rounds only and one can't buy the full 28 round magazine in NY, with the above stated wouldn't this be this exact exception?
  22. AWESOME...:-) Is that actually legal in NY?
