I could argue that one, the deer around my area couldn't care less about the noise, I see them feeding 30 yards from the busy road, walking behind my range targets while I'm shooting, they smelled and heard it all, I don't think it bothers them...

I do, very pressured area, the swamp is "swamped" during the pheasant season, you can't get a parking space on opening day and many days after that. Cranberry is very popular with dog walkers and small game hunters. It's great that they extended that WMA. I don't bother during the day or deer season, after the deer season I use it for night hunting for coons, yotes, fox, etc. since I live so close to it. Thanks for bringing the good news :-)

Thumbs up on the Malbec there....:-)

A gun? -
What are these "some parts"? Here is 2011 reality for you from Dutchess county: I have not seen a deer in November, 22 hunting sessions, 4 different areas across 2 states....not for the lack of efforts....my main beef is the weather, when I was a kid (a while back) we had a snow on the ground in early November, now it is a common thing to have snow-less Christmas....that's all...

Now, seriously, 50 deer a day? c'mon now.......
-
sweet, where is your party at? I will bring the beer :-)
-
what is it? Cab, Merlot, Malbec? Looking good...:-)

I know that some local areas are being stocked BEFORE season starts, this way they don't have that problem. Which one in particular are you talking about?

Outstanding Dave ! That last pick is awesome it could be a book cover or something. How does one even begin to train a wild bird like that, this is truly fantastic! -
Wooly, Nice pics on your site BTW, especially the whitetails....:-)

You almost got me going there for a while wooly :-) Why is he asking these questions? DOs and DONTs? wait a minute do you need a manual?...LOL I have to give it to you, you have stirred the deepest emotions out of everyone in here.... with all that was already said (on and off the topic) I gotta say personally I didn't do it and would only do it if my life depended on it (as in pinned by the deer to the tree) otherwise I always carry my handgun so that solves a lot of problems at hand....and yes I also have my Ka-bar with me at all times...other than that...this is a great post :-)

I beg to differ Timmy, the key word is "a firearm" in plain English (as I understand it :-)) A firearm must be unloaded (as in to be free of) a round in the chamber and a magazine. There is no implicit link to the rounds that are inside of the magazine only that the rounds are away from the firearm (in a chamber or a magazine)...but hey I have been wrong before....:-) Pygmy, what was the ticket for? I mean what was the "legal explanation" of the violation?

you gotta have IQ of 2 thinking that .30-06 at 1 AM won't get any reaction....pull the hunting license from them for 5 years that would teach them a lesson, on a second thought I doubt it it will....glad they got caught
-
I took my FoxPro call out a few times, no luck so far but then again I didn't see any deer either.... I have a feeling when the deer is moving it would catch their attention...

Thanks for clearing that up for me! What confused me was the fact that Westchester Co. can use whatever tag (Bow/MZ/Gun) during regular season. Which means doe or a buck, even if you don't have DMP tag for the area.
-
Congrats bro!!! Now we need more details, what distance was he shot?
-
Are you boiling just the scull with antlers or do I see some hide in there too?
-
What tags do you use during the gun season? Just like Westchester Co.? The DEC Hunting guide spells what tags to use in Bow only counties but it is vague on shotgun counties and bow only areas. Can you use your Bow/MZ tags during the regular gun season? Let us know, Thanks.

Same here, I hunt 3F,3G and CT. I saw deer during the first 3 days of archery season, then just two does during gun, that's about it for 22 days of hunting, I know it's getting frustrated but that's part of hunting as well. Like others I blame the weather, try to put your winter jacket on and see how active you going to be with 60 degrees outside. I hope the ML season will get the most of action this year.

come again....???? -
The way I read it is that the magazine has to be away from the gun and no round in the chamber, no word about the magazine itself...are we splitting hair here...??? :-)

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing! Have you noticed the trend? Early in the season they can be caught on camera during the day light, later in the season or now, you can see one rarely with the daylight, my theory seem to work, if they sense any pressure they go all nocturnal, well for the most part anyway, you have few bucks shot early mornings/late evenings but the trend is visible here...nice work
