Accents- Who's got 'em? Upstate vs Downstate
bkln replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in General Chit Chat
I think you meant to say Lawn Guyland....LOL Hey, I gotta a great deal for a Brooklyn Bridge for ya.... :-) I never knew there is an "Upstate accent" in NY unless you consider Albany upstate...:-) I think folks in Plattsburgh drink Molson, eh! -
ML season is still on and it got cold, which is good, I see them deer moving again, hope to fill my tag.
-
OK, this is getting old, hey folks why can't we just get along..... :-) I started this shit and I will end it, Thank You for all your responses, this topic in now closed.... Thank You

Seriously, shooting slugs at 200 yards and hoping for a hit? Now that's a scary proposition...
-
Doc, I'm so jealous now, I wish I could have a time machine because these days suck as far as public hunting is concerned, at least in my area....Thanks for sharing....
-

C'mon man what's wrong with carharts now...??? :-)

This morning was perfect 19 degrees, nice and crunchy you could hear for miles I kicked one large doe and almost got shot opportunity on another, I could see her every breath very well in the distance. We need couple more day of that cool weather and ML season will be awesome :-) I hope

Not many, found one last year while fishing and one while hunting and one small fawn this year after yotes got her. Six sounds high to me but then again it depends how many deer your area can carry

Do you actually read the posts on this forum? .... Q. Must I post to keep people off my property? A. No. Trespassing is illegal even on unposted property, unless it is unimproved, apparently unused and unfenced .... http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8371.html
-
Well, I guess I answered my own question on the other post...:-)
-
OK, here we go... Q. Must I post to keep people off my property? A. No. Trespassing is illegal even on unposted property, unless it is unimproved, apparently unused and unfenced (or not otherwise enclosed to exclude intruders.) Even on vacant land, a written notice delivered in person (or by certified mail with a signed receipt, etc.) to any person, in the name of the landowner or authorized party, containing a description of the premises and a warning of restrictions which apply has the same effect, for that person, as if the land were posted with those restrictions. Likewise, anyone asked to leave the premises, posted or not, by the landowner, occupant or other authorized person, must do so immediately. Here is the link Sorry slowhand, you are wrong :-)

I think this is a biggest misconception of them all especially in NY, here is a snippet direct from DEC ... Q. Is posting required to protect landowners from liability? A. No. Whether the property is posted or not, the General Obligations Law protects landowners from liability for non-paying recreationalists on their property. ... I got denied the hunting rights a few times just because I didn't have liability insurance, I said I don't need one, still, got a NO-NO....bummer...

OK, Thank You Fellows, I think I get the idea :-) Now, as a side note, how was hunting and posting in this state say 60 years ago (I lived in the city before I moved to the country side), was it also a touchy subject or people didn't really care who hunted and where and we just recently got more sensitive about the issue? I would appreciate the words of wisdom from the older "wiser" folks :-) Thanks

Shot in the dark here but here it goes: After the deer season does any local farmer need some help in getting rid of predators? I'm talking small game fox, yotes, coons, etc. that do damage to your property? I'm in Dutchess but will travel to another county for a good spot. Let me know, I'm sure others would be willing to help as well and perhaps establish a schedule or something like that. You are the Boss you set the rules, just let me know. Thanks
-
DEC says that you always should ask before hunt, as far as I know it is not illegal. What do you think guys? The same goes for posted land with no address or contact info, even if I want to ask I don't know who to ask. And for the record, I did not trespass I just see a lot of land that is not posted and having second thoughts and need your opinion. Thanks

Pygmy is on the money it's a "fair game" act :-) But like few people said also, if it is legal then why not? Especially for the younger hunters, getting a thrill of harvested game is awesome as long as it is legal. After 30 birds enact a "fair game" act if you bored, its more of a suggestion than a law is the way I look at it.

Hunting coyotes with a 22,,Anyone
bkln replied to RifleSharpShot's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Can you kill a yote with .22? Yes. Is it ethical, people would argue. If .22 is the only one you have or can use then yes, go for it, grab a bunch of hollow pointers and always double tap...LOL Nothing wrong with helping the Farmer, even with .22 -
Or maybe that was a fellow predator hunter with his FoxPro e-caller? LOL
-
Dom, where in eastern Dutchess are you? Does your buddy need a hand with yotes on that farm? Let me know.
-
This area is in Patterson, NY on both sides of 22. If you actually slow down going south right after Putnam Diner you will see new State Land signs, the land on the right (going south) is really wetland so no use until it freezes over for good. Hey, we have so little state land around that I will take anything we can get :-)

Heck, on the stand sometimes my Blackberry is my only entertainment...LOL
-
Why didn't you cash that check? :-) Just for fun.
