  1. Nothing wrong with making an observation G. And yes, the storm of 2014 seems to have increased deer this year.I have not seen this many Bucks before in my neck of the woods. Granted, most are young, but I inhabit a Brown n down region. Pickins have been slim in the past.
  2. Maybe. But that doesn't mean there isn't a problem to be solved. Your solution sounds like no solution at all. I hunt both incidentally.
  3. It's fair to say you have entirely missed the point.
  4. Yeah, cause Bow and Gun pressure deer in equal measure. Oh wait, no they don't: 2014 harvest numbers Total deer take - 238,672 Bow take for 2014 - 35,388 Nuff said.
  5. I use a 3rd hand, 12-15 year old Darton bow. I shot my 10 point buck with a 15 dollar (for 3) carbon express fixed broad-head. You don't have to lay down hundreds of dollars to hunt bow.
  6. You literally could not give me a handsome salary just to live there, let alone work. I am made to go once a year for work. It is the most depressing few days of my life.
  7. The woods are already ringing out with gunfire as the orange army does it's annual one day pre-hunt shooting practice. It seems the neighbors invariably like to target practice right next to the property line too. Got a spike on camera chasing 3 doe. Cute
  8. I had to tell the Doctor at the emergency room what antibiotic he needed to prescribe me. As you say, nothing to mess with and every hunter should know what the procedure is if they have been bitten.
  9. This happens with compound too. I was recently having a conversation with a friend in Central NY . He knows a lot of a people who have lost bucks and does because they are lobbing arrows too far in their desperation to kill a deer and are making terrible shots. It's all about attitude with any weapon. If it stinks, your shots will likely stink too.
  10. If muzzle loaders or any other object that goes boom enters Bow season, I will be hanging up the old bow for the last time and taking my shotgun or rifle afield. There will be no point to Bow if the local Jim-Bobs are lighting things up with their boom sticks from dawn till dusk. Crossbows are quiet. I have no issue with them. Bow season is all about silence and calm and patterning deer. Add guns of any description and that all goes away.

  12. Jumped a 6 while moving some cameras. He had a nice muscular body. Fresh scrapes all over and some of my mocks have been visited too. Exciting time of year.
  13. No I was referring to another Jihadist leader a few years back. He kept getting killed over n over. I could never decide if the news was just very forgetful of previous reporting or if they were testing the ability of Joe Public to pay attention.
  14. Yes, his name was Mustafa Abu al-Yazid. I remember at least two separate reports at two completely separate times (two year interval), announcing his death.
  15. I do remember during the 2nd Iraq war, how the same Jihadist leader got killed about 3 or 4 times according to the news wires. Guy must have had cat DNA. Will look up the story.
  16. So I just got back from Hunting camp up in the Adirondacks. Reports of deer walking around Old Forge with arrows in them. Locals apparently shoot their deer in the back yard. Couple of people at the bar discussing how large Bucks are mooching around yards looking for food. They are fearless and therefore easily taken.Probably brought around by Moma as fawns. We had a giant doe staring us down in the front of camp as she looked for apples. Probably why we rarely see anything in the BigWoods
  17. Bucks everywhere this morning by the roads. Could be an interesting weekend. Can't wait to check my cams later.
  18. And the European official response is more insanity:
  19. Unless of course you switch to Yote hunting mode.
  20. you get an extra 20 minutes or so added to Sunset on the western edge of the state where I am. Today, that would be 4:56pm If I was hunting and the BigBoy walked past at 15 yards at 4:57 pm, we would be seeing a new thread about a BigBuck down. My guess is the SS rules factor in those extra minutes of shootable light after the official time. It's like everyone driving at 70 mph in a 65 mph zone. Cops usually let it pass. It's no big deal. I would not shoot in that grey light however, when things become indistinct, even if at 15 yards I felt a good shot was viable. There is a fair play element for the deer involved as well.
