Who's getting the itch already? This should help!
The_Field_Ager replied to AdirondackBH's topic in General Hunting
I just got a stand up in my new hunting spot yesterday evening. I have it placed about 50+ yards off a thick bedding area and hide-out for Bucks. As I was securing my top straps, I heard all this crunching around inside the thickets. It was no squirrel, that's for sure. Nothing popped their head out, but it got the blood pumping none the less. Can't wait! -
When do you know you have coyote problem?

Ahhh...context, the last refuge of a scoundrel. Don't bother. We both know what your 'context' actually translates too. -

The Navajo believe you cannot kill a coyote. I guess Curmudgeon does too. -

Plenty of bigotry and hypocrisy however. Funny how the proponents of one (reason) often exhibit a good deal of the other (bigotry) . Not to mention the naked intolerance and misplaced arrogance of your above comment. -

It's the hypocrisy that bothers me, not your promotion of Navajo superstition. We get it though. As long as it is not a Judeo-Christian religious reference, your middle school teacher friend and her delicate sensibilities will not be irritated, irrespective of whether such notions are promoted publicly or not Good to know. -

What would your anti-Christian, liberal middle-school teacher friend say if you said this in front of her class I wonder? Let me turn your own words back on you if I may: And yes...I never forget. -
The 2015 Season is Creeping Up Fast, What is your game plan?
The_Field_Ager replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
Just got the bow out today for sighting in. I don't generally do much shooting till late August. Bow seemed to be shooting true after some tuning. My peep had moved quite a bit.Got a slight arm injury to heal up too before I can send more than 25 arrows down range in one session. Lots of scouting has occurred and 3 of my ladder stands are in new spots. Camera activity is indicating that these moves are going to pay off. There appears to be a few new Bucks around too which is great. Got a new patch of woods near the house to hunt this year. I have had permission for a few seasons but have not yet seriously scouted or hunted it till now. It is a short car drive, which put me off as I have been spoiled by having property right by the house. I have a new stand that will go up there later this week. Lots of good sized rubs in this new spot however. My understanding is that this is not a very heavily hunted patch of woods either so I am excited to see what comes of it. Can't wait to pull my camera card this week and see what's around. It will be nice to hunt some new woods. Very pretty spot. I will be hanging a stand right by some very thick sapling growth that has large tracks heading into a swampy area. It feels very different to my own property. -
Louisiana movie theater shooting yesterday.

It's even sadder when some hunters insist on being belligerently inured against a media that wants them disarmed. May as well join the other team at that point. -

This is yet another scenario of a mental case who was known to be a danger to himself and others. His family tried to have him committed in 2008. Why his family thought it was fine for him to have fire-arms is another question we likely will never know the answer to. This was yet another avoidable tragedy, not another lone-wolf disgruntled conservative, as some media outfits have erroneously tried to report. -

In your case that's an affirmative. These kind of comments are worse than useless. They give aid and comfort to the enemy. -

LIBERALS CALL FOR DISARMING ALL WHITE MEN AFTER THEATER SHOOTING Despite the fact that whites are responsible for just 2.5% of gun crime in major cities like NYC http://www.infowars.com/liberals-call-for-disarming-all-white-men-after-theater-shooting/ -

Why Grandpa carries a gun My old Grandpa said to me, "Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin’." I don't carry a gun to kill people; I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don't carry a gun because I'm evil; I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the World. I don't carry a gun because I hate the government; I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don't carry a gun because I'm angry; I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone; I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man; I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love. I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate; I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate. I don't carry a gun because I love it; I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. Police protection is an oxymoron: Free citizens must protect themselves because police do not protect you from crime; they just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take a whoopin’!

Absolutely. Look at the media spin being put on the recent Planned Parenthood scandal with the illegal selling of human body parts from post abortive babies. Listen to the lady in the leaked video and marvel at her lack of empathy or compassion. There is an obvious increase of incivility in society. The 'system' is creating a generation of low level sociopaths.

I would have poked him several times with the business end of an arrow before he got that close. Crazy risky.
