  1. I bought some Lowes insulation board a few seasons back. Cut into good sized squares and stacked about 3 or 4 deep, secured with duck tape, has worked really well.
  2. I have a large community scrape in one corner that see's a lot of action each year. Mostly nocturnal though. I don't hunt near it so as to ensure the spot remains an entry point into the property.
  3. So are you a scientist or a philosopher?
  4. With all due respect: The various forms of neurodegenerative disorders that may or may not be caused by Prions ( from my limited reading, this is a controversy unto itself) are incurable and no viable treatments exist for any of them once the disease has manifested. This would suggest that it is the natural history of the disease itself that is dangerous combined with science's inability to halt this history, irrespective of how it may or may not be transmitted. Finding out the mode of transmission in no way makes the disease any less fatal or dangerous.
  5. I lived in the UK for a while some years back. The West Indian parades in London were always marred by gang violence there too.I went once, and that was enough. The air of menace was tangible
  6. I am not a big squirrel guy, but having spent a good deal of time in the woods, I would say squirrel activity is low to non existent when raining.
  7. Good day for checking cams and making mock scrapes while leaving a minimum of scent behind.Had a couple of 2:30pm tequilas too while I have the house to myself and watched a new episode of Longmire. I won't need to visit the woods now until a day or two before opener to check trail cams before deciding on which stand to sit first.
  8. Saw my first rubs today in the woods. The excitement is building!
  9. One time neighbors were using ATVs to drive deer to hunters. That is the one time I made a call. If I knew of, or witnessed obvious poaching while trespassing, that would also likely elicit a call.
  10. Already got some live scrapes on our property. I expect to see rubs any day now.
  11. Here's what ya do: Scout the area and find some new sign, than take down and heft the stand to take advantage of the new scouting data. Then second guess yourself, begin to have doubts, and move the stand back to it's original position. That's what I like to do anyway.
  12. Microsoft uses Joe public to beta test it's software. Never ever sign up for the initial offerings from them. More pain than pleasure.
  13. We too have seen a lot of acorn and apples here. Unfortunately the deer won't touch red acorns in our woods until snow is on the ground and deep. They just don't like 'em all that much. Studies have shown that deer are 6 times less likely to eat red vs white acorns. Anyone else experiencing this?
  14. They won't stop grow. That's fine by me. I can give as good. You can sense the butthurt here with Shawnhu after his disgraceful behavior yesterday was criticized. Just another, but more subtle attack by him. Surprised you missed it. As they old song goes, ' if you're playing with me, you're playing with fire'
  15. Hypocrite. It's not even the 'right' forum. (as a man, this doesn't bother me at all) .
  16. Uh Oh. A political thread in general chit-chat! You've done it now. The 'chit' is about to hit the fan once the little coven of whiny whiners gets wind of this. Good news though all round. Great thread topic.
  17. A small but active group of thread crappers have been busy these last few days. If they don't like the tone of a thread, they start to troll the hell out of it. Gettin out of control
  18. Well spotted. Tells ya a lot about the person that made the accusations right?
