  1. By the way, the frame info to the right squashes pic view when you click on them. If you collapse the section they show better.
  2. If you realy want a run-a-round answer to whats legal in NY, ask a question at Gander Mountain.
  3. OK pic's up and some work done. 1st up is the main plot area, hard to get the whole thing in one pic but it's slightly kidney bean shaped, decent amount of sun. 2nd pic is after it was all wacked down. And a light application of 23-0-7. Also took about an hour and dug off the surface rocks, and minor obstructions. There's two small stumps that I'll have to work around, but if you can't get equipment to the spot what choice is there. I plan to be back up there in about a week with a tiller and seed it. 3rd pic is part of a old logging trail about 50 yards from the plot. It gets decent sun, not as much as the plot spot so I'm thinking to try some of that throw & grow secret spot jazz. What could it hurt, wacked it down.
  4. Nuttin like a set of glowing eyes staring at you down the old logging trail ???
  5. Rear window [There's room for all of Gods creatures | Right next to the potatoes and gravy] Side windows [PSE | Bowhunter in a treestand]
  6. Those are what I use and they work great. Even for broadheads. The C/T I go to has them stacked up and are glad to give them away.
  7. Had to change my vote from combo to mainly treestands; being in the Bow Hunting section.
  8. I'm comfortable with 5-6 weeks prior to the opener. I tend to make minor stand adjustments then as well.
  9. Now that sounds like a great time. A little rain really doesn't dampen camping mood. And when the song dogs kick in, well you can really appreciate where you are. I camp out in the Williamstown area, two weeks ago deer flies were pretty thick. How were they in your area?
  10. One fine ball shrinking cold winter day I was hunting a hedgerow that Tee'd a large field and had myself planted about 50 yards from the 9 o`clock corner. Had been there for abit and was using a bleet call because the grunt tube froze up. I was just about ready to go and just then two deer at 1 o`clock. 10 yards away broadside. It wasn't that windy but somehow the pair snuck right up. A huge, and I mean HUGE doe, she towered the 4-point buck. 12 gauge brenneke slug - I couldn't chamber a second round as the gun jammed with a stuck spent shell. No matter, the doe took 3 steps and dropped dead. The buck looked at her, looked at me, looked back at her, back at me (with a 'you shot my doe' look on it's face), then bolted off into the corner. 1 minute later, the buck came back and stared at the doe again, at me again, back at the doe, back at me - snorted then bolted off for good. I'll never forget the loins I got off that doe, and a freezer full of venison.
  11. Cool, bedded down and relaxed, radar ears.
  12. source: rr news Jun. 18ALBANY The state Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution supporting the construction of a four-lane Interstate 98, the so-called Rooftop Highway. The sponsor of the bill, Assemblywoman Addie J. Russell, D-Theresa, said a highway connecting Watertown and Plattsburgh through Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Lewis, Franklin and Clinton counties would improve safety, as well as reduce transportation costs and travel times, helping to entice businesses. "The advancement of Interstate 98 will stop the hemorrhaging of local manufacturing and tourist jobs and help to finally eradicate the poverty cycle that has afflicted the north country region for generations," Massena Business Development Corporation Director Jason A. Clark said. "This legislative action should serve as a call for New York state to work with the Federal Highway Administration to finally make this project a reality."
  13. Less then 100 days for NZ It also means some work at camp.
  14. I know where there's a rusted old hulk from the 50's that has a farm plate on it. Same colors as the 'new' plate but in reverse use. :
  15. I built one and have plans for another. I use a pair of 8' 4x4's and join them together with some 2x4's on each side and use lag screws. For one I built a platform ontop of it that worked well last season*. I use screw in steps. I also use a concrete deck block on the ground to help secure it. Secured to the tree by a chain hooked into a hook screw on each end of the platform, and one of those deals thaty you turn and it tightens each end of the chain. You can also use this idea as a climber stick for a hang on. Heres some pics of it disassembled. *except for sub freezing temps, the wood platform creeked.
  16. With about 100 days untill the opener, I have yet to till up and plant a new 1/4 acre plot on the lease. Not trying to sound lazy, I'll rent a tiller and get the work done but I don't want to plant to early or late for that matter. I think though, from what I've read about plot so far is to not use clover because of location and the extra cutting needed. So I'm wondering for a plot newbee what might a good time to plant be so I can plan the time & work needed? I'll post a pic or two if I remember to bring the dang camera next time I'm there.
  17. I think AR is yet another issue that divides hunters. The anti's who unite on all fronts probably love that. Those are my thoughts.
  18. Currently `99 Cherokee, white, straight-6. Previous to that, `90 Cherokee, red, straight-6.
  19. I have been thinking about upgrading my scope on the VLS but the SportView has held it's own. Not the greatest in low light but keeps zero and quite clear. Some of those Burris scopes looks nice though.
  20. I hunt 7R, 7M, and now 6K. In all these years have never seen one. Last year bow hunting near Dryden I could have sworn I heard a pig grunt but saw nothing. Coyotes on the other hand -. Anyhow I have relatives that know farmers that say they have seen them. But it's all been 2nd hand info. So lets cut the BS, has anyone seen or hunted them in your zone? Unless I'm mistaken Dec says they are here, they are unprotected and want them gone.
  21. Done good business with keystonecountrystore, midwayusa. Sportsmansguide has some good deals but I've not done business with them.
