-
Whats a matter cant take it. Grow a set like the rest of the guys on her. Just kidding I had that thought a while ago but apparently its not the popular thing to do. Ignore them and they will go away.

How would you like to drag this out of the back country!!
5.9cummins replied to erussell's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
The buck in the pic after was 280lbs. And no i would not drag it. That's what they make knifes for. The video of the bull was pretty cool. Here are a couple more. Another -

I have tested more load choke combos out of my 835 than i will ever need. Win, Rem, Fed,4's, 5's, 6's, copper plated, 2 &3/4", 3", 3 & 1/2". There is a white ash on a field edge outside Peterboro NY that has literally pounds of lead in-beaded in the sap wood. My old standby used to be the copper plated magnum loads. Then i ended up testing the Winchester high velocity loads and holly cow. At least 20% improvement on all other loads. Those loads throw a lethal pattern out to 60+ yards not that I shoot that far. That being said i haven't patterned a new load in close to 10 years. Never seen the need for one of the HD loads at 30$ a box. I will say that the Magnum Blends have peeked my interest. But i might not be able to bring my self to spend 4$ a shell. A more prudent investment might be a gobbler Guillotine ;D

NAP FOC Broadhead So if a rage is like throwing a ax through a animal whats this going to be like? A chainsaw? 3 inch cut. Supposed to be for X-bows but i am sure someone will use it out of a compound. Have to put it on a hell of a heavy arrow to get any penetration.

I dont think a online refresher would be a bad idea (no cost that is). But i am not sure the individuals that really need it would bother unless it was tied into getting your license. However at that point it makes it one more hoop to jump through and another why bother issue. You cant fix stupid.

NO takers?????????

He probably would have shot the coyote if it had been in season. An ethical hunter no doubt. My question, how many of you guys would have shot the coyote??Dave So I was illegal? I didn't say spring turkey.

I had that second video happen to me while turkey hunting. Only thing is a load of 4s at 10 yards gives em a real headache.

I bought the leafy suit this year and ended up not getting out much. One good experience i had was a deer caught me standing in the middle of a creek with no cover at 15 yards. Looked right through me a couple times. ASAT Camouflage Promo DVD - Textat på svenska!

Gas stations are going to start showing porn at the pump, so now you can watch someone getting screwed at the same time you are.

I hope to. Only problem with spring is that we get slammed at work and its hard to get out. Did 55 hours this week and its only going to get worse from here. Plus we are going to try and move so i am not sure what the spring will bring. If its anything like last year i will be lucky if i can get two good weekends.

Ya and i miss both of them. What the hell you been up to trout.

I cant add much to what these guys have already said. In short i would look at it this way. If you like - Sitting all day in dead silence Not seeing another soul all day (or if you do having deer work through right after them). Seeing more of a deer than a white puff bounding away. Not freezing your @$$ off (some of the time anyway). Seeing natural deer behavior A challenge Shaking when a doe strolls by Feeling your knees buckle, heart race and breath heavy when a buck walks in. or your stomach turns into knots, you have physical trouble standing and or pulling your bow back, hyperventilating, and your brain turning to overall mush when a really nice buck walks in Then by all means try it. If you don't like the above and want to continue with the elbow to elbow crowd in the pumpkin patch. Where every one ate to much chili and drank to much beer the night before and cant stop passing gas. Where you get to your spot a hour before the crack of dawn only to have a guy sit on top of you come daybreak. Where I had a really good shot and don't know why I didn't hit him really means It was only a 200 yard shot and i put four rounds three feet over his back. Then by all means keep hunting in the gun season. DISCLAIMER: I love gun season so long as it is with the right company and on the right piece of property. Good company can be hard to find or at-least company where you are in there presence and you don't have to fear for your life. And here is my 2cents on the equipment. Used or Traditional gear. Nothing special. Most important part practice, practice, practice, practice, you get the point. Learn as much as you can about the animal you are hunting. Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice. Scout the property you hunt and learn about terrain layout and how the wind moves. Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice. :-\

I cant say i can relate to the baiting thing. At least not to a pile of cracked corn. Hunting over a food source vs. a bait pile is a little different. I agree with Uncle Ted it is all baiting to a degree but you are not going to be able to pinpoint the exact spot where a deer will be standing in a 100 acre field like when you hunt over a pile. I prefer to hunt travel corridors and funnels. To each his own I guess.

No that one is not ringing a bell.
-
Sounds familiar but i cant place it. If you know a Griffin, Davis, Brooks, Gerbig, Dorance, or Spokowsky I am related to about all of them. In all reality my mom could probably tell you how i am related to any given person within 3 or 4 townships. I used to hunt Smithfield, Lincoln, Fenner, Stockbridge, Eaton and Nelson.

Caz or Hamilton?

Lets here it who's from Madison Co. I know there are at least a couple guys from there. Spent the first 24 years of my life in Peterboro.

Another post got me thinking about this. Whats your top three hunting / fishing experiences of all time? Here are mine. 1. Shooting my first archery buck. 2.5 yr old 8pt spot and stalk from the ground while he was chasing a doe. He chases a doe into the apples - I move closer. The circle out and in of the apples several more times and i keep easing in. Eventually he chases her across the tractor trail into the pines. He starts grunting like he lost the doe so i give a couple bleats and he goes nuts and starts breaking branches and closing the gap. He pops out of the trees and I ended up closing the deal from 10 yards with my climber on my back. Used my dads 1973 Fred Bear Whitetail II. 2. Having a goose step on me. One of my first goose hunts a couple years ago with a buddy (no clue what we were doing). Had a dozen crappy carry lite shells in a corn field. Spotted 25 geese off on the horizon and as they cleared the hedge 25 turned to 50 to 100 to 200 to 400+. The lead group locked up and came straight in. At one point there was more black than blue in the sky. Had one bird land less than 4 foot from me. As i watched his head walking i soon felt pressure on my right knee (no blinds just covered with combined corn). I shouldn't admit this but my buddy and i dumped six shells and never touched one bird. 3. Fighting and loosing the biggest fish of my life. Fishing on Chautauqua last year and we were slamming the perch in one of my honey holes. Using a ultra lite setup with 3lb test. Set the hook and the rod bends in half, rreeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! 20 minutes later an eye floats by my hole the size of a quarter. He runs a couple more times and then my retired boss tries to move the line so he can get a grip on the gill and SNAP. As far as i can tell he wouldn't have fit through the six inch hole. It was a tiger musky. If I referenced my book from Ichthyology / Fisheries (The Inland Fishes of New York State) correctly the total length should be 56.1322 inches (that's with a body depth of 6 inches - which he was at least 6 inches). If the length holds then he would be well over 45 lbs.

I have never had the fortune of experiencing that but i did have that happen with a flock of Greater Canadians (500 - 600). All I can say is wow, definitely rates in the top five for hunting experiences.

Well even though my hunting budget has been slashed and slashed again lately I am going to cut it yet again. I think I am going to take half of it from this point on and start giving it back to some organizations that do good - i.e. NRA, NSSF, US Sportsman's Alliance, DU, NWTF etc. etc. I used to be more active but for what ever reason i have drifted away, I think I can attribute it to an increase in family obligations. But the more I think about my family the more I want to protect what I love so my kids are able to enjoy it. Here's to not getting some goose decoys for next year. I am also seriously thinking of becoming a Hunter Ed instructor.
