Nueces Helicopter Pig Hunt (no music) For those of you that think hogs are a good thing this is what they have resorted to for trying to control them. Ask any rancher in Texas if you can hunt hogs on there property and they will say yes. They will tell you to invite your friends and kill them all. http://feralhogs.tamu.edu/ http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/nuisance/feral_hogs/

Interesting might have been a bad choice :-[ . I couldn't agree with you more. Why would elected officials be any different than the people that elected them. Americans don't put any value on saving money or staying out of debt. I like this article. I support a wife and three kids under five. I put down 37.5 percent on our house. I don't have a car payment. Went to a one car household, no cell phone, no cable - satellite - or TV for that matter. Yet i am still able to put some money away for retirement, pay off all our bills every month and tithe a full 10% before taxes to the church. I can still do all that on slightly more than what the average American makes according to that article. America needs to get its head out of the sand and wake up.

Ice fishing hands down. I don't think a lot of guys like ice-fishing because it takes some work to find the fish but once you do it just as good as the summer if not better. I travel lite no shelter no power auger no tip-ups that crap only slows you down. I like to panfish and once i find the fish usually i cant keep two rods in the water at the same time. Finding the fish is key i might travel a couple miles and punch more than 50 holes before i hit the jackpot. If you ever see a guy way out beyond everyone else sitting on a bucket with his back to the wind its me or if there is two guys i got my buddy with me.

Take a look at huntersfriend.com - there are a ton of good bow / how to articles. As far as bows go i wouldnt concentrate on brand much. They are all going to throw arows and kill deer. I shoot a Diamond (cheap bowtech), my neighbor shoots mathews, one budy shoots hoyt another PSE - we all kill deer. Things to focus on are get the largest peep you can along with large sight pins which will help you in low light. Get a large brace height (brace height is the distance between your string and riser). The larger the brace height the more forgiving. Dont get caught up with the speed craze or the macho man 70+ lb draw weights they are not that important. I would rather have a slower bow that is extremely accurate than a fast bow that is really touchy. Speed = high draw weight and a short brace height which results in a touchy bow. Another thing i would suggest is going with a heavy arrow (better than 10 grains per inch) - this too is a no no with the speed crowd but a heavy arrow retains momentum better than a light one. Momentum = penetration (dont get this confused with Kinetic Energy) I would go with carbon arrows vs aluminum and a fixed blade broadhead as well. Carbon is more durable and fixed heads have better penetration. And for those of you who are going to bash me because rages are the best thing since sliced bread your entitled to your opinion but so am I. You got any other questions feel free to PM me. And i second the comments about buying used on Archerytalk.com - great deals.

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7166293n Dont know if you guys got a chance to look at this but its pretty interesting in terms of where some states stand fiscally (NY included).

No offense Sam but you are not doing the farmer any favors by posting the location where that buck was shot if its legit.

Last chance buck -
You hit it on the head. Went out one last time this evening. Had a doe pop out at about 200 yards which is what my rifle was zeroed for. Squeeze the trigger and she jumps / lurches like it was a boiler maker hit. I don't see her run out the other side of the pines so i figured i had her. Got down about half an hour later and made my way to where she was standing - no blood. Follow her into the pines and find 3 different places where she stopped. Followed her another 200 yards and not a single drop of blood. So i walk back up to the top of the hill and take a seat in the wide open on the edge of the trees. Half an hour later i look down and here is another deer standing at 90 yards. Put the scope on it and its a little 4pt. About 15 seconds pass while i am contemplating what to do. Finally i squeeze the trigger and he folds on the spot. I walk back to my tree to get my camera and knife and head down to him. Walk up to him and hes got a hole in his neck about 18" from where i was aiming. I cant figure out where i bumped it. I always transport it with a case and take extra precautions in the field to protect the optics. It was dead on this summer and opening day so i am not sure where it got messed up.

That is the third time out this year. The first time out it was dead on. Its not out of the realm of possibility that i could have bumped it.

Outside. Dont worry it wont be there for long i just checked the weather and i think i will be out with the rifle again tommorow.

We i figured today would be my last day out with the rifle. I wanted to do some hunting in Allegany state park but thats a no go after they got 4 ft. So i went over to the farm, i figured 1200 acres is plenty of room to roam. I think i covered about 5 miles by the time it was all said and done. At 11:15 i was walking slowly through a small patch of blue spruce when i caught movement. I shouldered the 257 and took two more steps and theres a doe standing in the open at 70 yards. I squeeze the trigger and boom - she just looks at me. Chamber another round and boom she finally takes off. Camber a third round when another doe and buck high tail it across the opening and i let one fly at the buck. Long story short never cut a hair. I am kicking myself for not slowing down and for rushing the shot. Now i am seriously debating going out again tomorrow night or should i go break the ice and come home with a limit of blue gill and some perch.

Final Weekend of Southern Zone Gun Season

I had planned on hunting Allegany state park for the last trip out Saturday and pack in (even if i had to use my snowshoes) but after talking with my old boss who lives ten minutes from the park i decided snow shoes aint going to do me any good with 4 ft of snow. Guess i will be heading out to the farm instead. I will be getting geared up for hard water soon. -
Saw a group of six last night on the way home in the finger-lakes and saw another group of 9-10 in the Genesee Valley tonight.

I hope they mean depth after compaction. Because that is no where near the total fallen. Got family outside Syracuse and they got better than double what is shown and i know south towns of buffalo would laugh if you showed them that .
