  1. I took the day to move 2 stands, and put up another (grand total of 14!). Gonna check logging roads for scrapes. There's some spots that have them every single year, so we'll see.
  2. Nah I got landowners every year for 4h. I've had to track them on the run across to 4G once or twice though! This cold snap we're getting, anybody see any pickup in movement yet? According to the lunar rut folks, Chase should be starting next week on the 24th with the full moon. It looks like it's cold enough too?
  3. So true. I got this one stand, Lee side of a ridge with a pine forest up top, when you get a 20 mile per hour + wind, it swirls over those pines then cuts down and swirls your scent right up in the air. We're right on the border to 4G, but still in 4h just outside rensellearville.
  4. More around every single year. Buddy who owns the property next to mine had 5 different bears on his cameras last year. In one of the overgrown fields I hunt, there are acres of striped maple that are about 8 to 15 feet tall. I've noticed bears have been ripping the top off some of them, at around 6 feet up. Is that a territorial marking thing?
  5. Yogi was hanging out under my tree stand opening morning. I may or may not have had my hand on my sig p220 10mm the whole time.
  6. Sorry to hear that WNY. Every year I get to hunt with my dad is a gift, hearing things like this just reinforces it. He's getting old enough now that I don't take it for granted.
  7. Almost bagged a coyote on the way back out to the stand, he saw me a second too early!
  8. Young black bear and a Fisher, crap loads of chestnut oak acorns all around.
  9. Seems like a bunch of us in close proximity! My family's property juuuust over the border into schoharie county, on the far side of the rensellearville state forest. Everybody I talk to isn't seeing ANYTHING right now. No doe, no little bucks, nothing during daylight. I beat the brush alot this past weekend, in some of the thickest steepest crud you can find, and didn't see a single tail. My dad said he saw a mountain lion Sunday on the side of the hill, he was posted up on the side of the hill and just happened to look over and the kitty cone stalking along parallel to him and down the side of the hill. Lucky he didn't have a heart attack.
  10. I've had 5 cameras out since August, and things were hopping until about a week before gun opened. Now they're just intermittent. Still getting bucks in daylight moving, just very inconsistent. Personal theory is that there's so many does this year the boys are just breeding breeding breeding. All locked down in the crud, no real reason to go out into the open.
  11. Ain't that the truth! I think I'm gong to sit until 10 or so then go on a walkabout, can't hurt at this point.
  12. Curse this weather. Made my 400 feet elevation climb into a hot sweaty mess.
  13. Ugh somebody just shot on the next ledge up, ruined the area, doe came scrambling bye 3 minutes later.
  14. Haven't seen diddly. Something was bedded 40 yards behind my stand in some saplings, never saw what it was. Now just sitting in a travel corridor on the side of a seep damn hill seeing and hearing nothing.
  15. Whereabouts in rensellearville? We hunt just a few miles from there!
  16. Nice! Whereabouts in Rensellearville? We hunt just a couple miles from there!
  17. Hey look at me I'm a dumb spike, you won't shoot me, neener neener neener
  18. So loud this morning every squirrel sounds like a herd of Pope and youngs. Heavy cloud cover keeping the woods pretty grey.
  19. Last day of bow for me, completely still, 32 degrees, in a spot that's been really active all week. Kicked something up on the way in, hoping it was just mama and 2 kids I've seen around this area the whole year.
  20. Kicked up 6 on my way in, he was in the middle of an overgrown field, around 7. They're moving!
  21. Other than a spike running a doe yesterday, nada for 8 hours in the stand. Hopefully the wind is down at 2100 feet today because it really hampers my spot choices.
  22. Single lunged a nice 8 in this stand 9 days ago, came up dry finding him
  23. Had a spike run a big doe through. Real goddamned windy in 4G/H. Not too bad here in the Lee of a pine ridge.
