  1. 330, driving by 430, cabin by 515, quad by 530, stand by 6. It's a process.
  2. From what I saw in 4H they were out browsing on saplings buds all afternoon. When the wind came up they went downhill out of the wind. I'd expect them to be on a south slope out of the wind tomorrow morning, and then up and running in the afternoon when the wind settles.
  3. Another bow season gone. 1 dead coyote one buck with 1 less lung. I suck at bow.
  4. Just another doe and some fauns. Nobody came in range. Saw a bald eagle though!
  5. 3 fauns and a doe were right in front of my stand, they headed down hill. Wind picked up, and I'm under dressed. Gonna have to pack in the bibs in the morning , got sweated up from the snow, and now I'm freezing.
  6. Spent the whole morning shoveling a hundred yard driveway. Hopefully in the woods by 2.
  7. Gonna head up behind my house for a quick sit once telecommuting is done. I took tomorrow off, but I have to get my older daughter on the bus. If school is 2 hours late I'm not getting out to the farm until 11. Such is life! Saying 2 to 4 down here, 6 to 10 out at the farm. Me likee.
  8. Remington 700 308, that I've out alot of tweaking into the trigger. Leupold VX2 on her, I don't think I'd buy anything else. This is at 180 yards, didn't drop an inch from 100.
  9. This is a forecast I can get behind! Going to take one last poke with the crossbow after I get my daughter on the bus Friday morning.
  10. Thank you for sharing, sorry for your lost. This is one of those things that I think about when I'm out tracking with my dad right now. Don't know how many tracks we have left together, but if we find the deer or not, at least it's time with my pops.
  11. Missed a big 8 point at sunrise on opening day of my first day hunting. At 10 yards. With a shotgun. Dropped my thermos of chicken soup last year with a nice 6 coming in. Nudged that big 8 this past Saturday when I knew I should back out. Probably cost me the deer.
  12. Thinking of asking the Wife for a grinder for Christmas! Been using the little grinder add on to her Kitchen Aid for about 8 years, and I'm pretty over it. Ideally I'd like something that I could drop almost fist sized chunks of meat into! The longest part of the process seems to be cutting up the meat. Would like to keep it under 300 but that might be unrealistic? Any help is appreciated!
  13. I got the fever bad when I saw a massive boy at 7am in Saturday, was shaky, the whole 9. He didn't come in, and I was chastising myself for it afterwards. Then when the one I hit came in, I was calm. Like others have said, breathe deep and even, focus on the shot, not on all that antler.
  14. Gun season is so much more relaxing than bow. The following photos are at 100 and 200 yards. Need to hit the range and practice free hand shooting again this week, thesenshots we're all bench rested.
  15. https://www.cabelas.com/product/home-cabin/kitchen-dining/food-dehydrators/pc/104798880/c/104739480/sc/104294880/cabelas-l-commercial-food-dehydrator/2339805.uts?slotId=0 I also grind my jerky (what she said), after seasoning over night I put it between 2 pieces of wax paper, on a cutting board, and use a rolling pin to roll it flat. Peel off the top piece of wax paper, then lay it flat on the rack and peel off the paper. Rinse and repeat. Comes out almost like a potato chip, but flavorful meat. Keeps really well this way if you do a bunch (20 lbs) at a clip.
  16. Tracked that hoss about another mile, bleeding hard the whole time. Then he doubled back on his own trail, and shook us. Maybe I only single lunged him. Spent the day with my dad, got another story , saw a bunch of new territory. He bled SO MUCH at the end of the trail then it just stopped. Wish I hadn't nudged him last night . Idiot.
  17. Follow red dot road, follow the red dot road. Well at least I didn't dream about it or lose sleep over it. Nervous as hell now though.
  18. Shot him at 2 pm, waiting til morning. Deer search says there's nobody available in my hunting area, Schoharie county. I guess the guy who usually handles it is busy. As long as we don't get a bunch of lake effect tonight shouldn't be that bad of a track, I marked where I left it. He was blowing blood the whole trail, very easy to follow. Also in retrospect I'm sure I was bumping him more, lost all sanity. I google earth pro'd the route, approx. 1600 yards. IT FELT LIKE 2 MILES!
  19. Lord. Liver single lunged a real nice wide 8, tracked him 2 miles, nudged him, backed out. Thinking deer search and wait til morning?
  20. Turns out there were 2 fatties bedded down wind of me. Kicked them both up when I moved. Some day I will fill you, doe tag
