  1. Lighter, if you aren’t shooting at running deer use whatever’s lighter. If you’re going to get serious about hunting up there regularly you really need to practice shooting at running deer probably 3/4’s of the bucks I’ve killed in the big woods we’re on the run. That being said as my tracking skills are improving “very slowly” those numbers are changing but I still practice regularly at shooting moving targets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Who else is in the woods today post storm? I got in about an hour ago, checked cams this morning in a monsoon and had 2 new bucks on camera for the first time last night. A 120” 8 and another 100ish” 9 that looked mature from the pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. An old saying about a shoe fitting is coming to mind... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. For the love of god we all saw your scope contraption I think it would in everyone’s best interest to keep any and all power tools as far away from your gun as possible. Unless you’re going to drill and tap it because we all want to see you turn it into a cannon and be able to shoot it with a fuse through the new touch hole. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The 6 o’clock hold has been around for a long time it’s a bullseye competition method that leaked over to the military and law enforcement back when they were still using bullseye targets. It is used to give a definitive hold on a round target, something that’s very difficulty do otherwise because it’s very hard to consistently hold on center of a circle. The problem with it is that the 6 o’clock hold or Lolli-popping, doesn’t transition to hunting or combat/real life scenarios well at all because there is no definitive spot to hold on the bottom of on a deer, bad guy or what ever else your intended target is. That is why most everyone covers half of their target when shooting things that aren’t round. While instructing I have often gotten guys that wanted to argue this and every time I was able to prove them wrong on the range. With any kind of sights unless you’re aiming at a 10 ring cover the bottom half of the bullet hole or spread you intend on making with the front sight “I think that would be the middle dot on that abomination of a sight that you have strapped to your shotgun” and pull the trigger. 6. My biggest “racked” adk buck came after a hellacious paddle across Indian lake. 10pt that weighed 203lbs the first week of December. That’s an option I highly recommend just be careful because there is a couple camps on private land you’ll have to watch out for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Why do you need 3 beads to shoot birdshot, you aren’t aiming your pointing. To point at something you have to see the target with that contraption it’s covering up most of the target. I’m far from a traditionalist actually my main shotgun hasn’t even had a bead on it in a few years since I ran my benelli over with my snowmobile crow hunting. Probably killed 1500 crows with it since and a bunch of squirrels and other critters as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Yea real easy to see the “sight” who needs to see the target? Ray Charles can see that that thing is a retarded idea! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yea but I’ve never seen anyone put the front and rear sight together, kinda defeats the purpose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Natural habitat? Aren’t you the one that has a stand on someone’s paved driveway? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I’m not sure I want to know but what in the hell is on the end of that barrel? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Just making sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Rob I don’t see a compass and map on your list. I’m sure you won’t be miles from the road but they are absolute must haves! Also drop the Binos the leaves are still on and will likely be useless. Good luck on your trip and enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Please do as he says and post pics!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Took my second hunt off since the 27th of September this morning to do a little side concrete job I’ve been putting off all summer. Gotta clean up and should be in the woods by 1 on a property I haven’t stepped foot in since July. Nice thing is I put 2 cameras in there I’ll have to walk by on the way in so I’ll have something to do in the stand for a few minutes Checking those cards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ok, have fun! I’ve had my stormy fill for a long time now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. How many slug and choke “if it is threaded for chokes” combos have you tried? It’s very very rare that you can’t find a combo that will get you damn close. Now I know you’re going to have an excuse about cost or time at the range or something else but when you pay 100$ for a new shotgun this is the stuff you have to deal with, hell it can even happen to good shotguns I have a 1300 Winchester that will not shoot rifled slugs had to get a riffled choke for it. 18. Here’s the problem, every scope mount works great until they don’t. Millimeters means inches even at short distances. Ever had to shim a scope? 1 layer of aluminum foil is the difference between not being on paper and being able to zero. This issue is it’s always the last shot that knocks it off and you’re not going to know until the next one, if you hit the middle of the bullseye at the range put it in the case and the next shots at a deer and it’s 2 ft off ain’t good for the deer. If you want to tote that stupid gun in the deer woods just remember to use Kentucky windage, been used for hundreds of years and it’s a hell of a lot more reliable that what ever that abortion that you have that red dot sitting on.
  19. Is that for slugs? If so it’s not going to hold a zero. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You must have a bad smell about you if deer are running a mile from your scent. I’ve hunted the adks my whole life killed way more than my share of adk bucks tracked way more than that and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one run more than a few hundred yards after smelling me or even seeing me for that matter. I’ve shot bucks less than 100yds from the bed they got out of when they smelled me. I’ve found that deer in the big woods are way less effected by a humans scent than any other deer I’ve hunted.
