  1. Hang and hunt, the first time in a stand is the best chance to kill from it!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Haven’t had power since 9 last night, thankfully the house is wired to just plug in the generator. My weather thing on my roof said gusts on 60’s with sustained around 25mph when I left the house this morning. Saw 4 bucks and 7 does this morning. At 1 point the wind was blowing so hard it blew me away from the tree in my saddle. The deer are definitely on their feet if I didn’t have crap to do today to get ready for daughters birthday tonight I would be in the woods all day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. They are a pocket item not a pack item!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I won’t step foot in the woods without wet wipes, they are so much better than regular TP and do more with less. Never tried the scent free ones usually just buy what’s on sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I’m a prison guard I deal with this mentality everyday I work! You won’t understand, it’s impossible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Good advice here, I disagree with the higher is better unless you practice air at shooting very steep angles much over 20ft makes the vitals very small! Another thing I may have missed is the sun! If at all possible put it directly behind you, deer don’t like staring into the sun. Cover is the most important, staying still helps but you have to move so it only goes so far. Don’t go buying a bunch of fancy camo thinking that’s the answer, I rarely wear any and have plenty of close encounters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Some of my stands have them, they all probably should. My problem with them is I think they will one day cause me to fall because I’m always taking my hands of the steps to slide the knot up the rope, hopefully it works and I don’t die but I’m pretty sure it will happen one day. 8. too bad my tag is filled, found a public land roost. I can see 11 birds in trees form where I’m sitting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I never add anything to mine. Always add an egg to burgers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Never dry any wool, maybe they fixed their issue I gave up after the 3rd set but it was a few years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I will only wear smart wool socks but I don’t like their base layers because the elastic wears out way too fast. The wool is 2nd to none. Let me know if they’re still holding up after the season I might have to give them another shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It always amazed me watching hunting shows how often those guys are ranging deer, I don’t remember the last time I carried a range finder in the woods when hunting from a stand, if I’m still hunting especially up north I carry it because its harder to judge distance for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I like the RYO’s but they don’t cover the lens’s that I want. The thing that makes no sense to me is it seems like all the harnesses that offer the cover for lens’s I want open towards your chest, that doesn’t make sense to me? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks but I’m looking for something way less technical than that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Who wears them and what brand do you have? I have Leupold 8x32’s and think I want to start carrying them for tracking and still hunting. Don’t want any extra crap on them just something to keep the snow/rain off them and be somewhat comfortable to wear but not be in the way. Tried on a buddy’s kuiu today and it was way too big for my binos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Warm base layer and something to stop the wind if I’m sitting and I’m good for a long time, merino wool is what I wear for base layers. I have different weights for different conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. And I’ve used mine probably 30 times this year how many times did you use yours? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I agree with this 100% but other than in high winds what affect does this have on a properly tuned bow? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. And I thought your scope mount was bad! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I don’t remember the last time I shot my bow not in amy saddle. Every time I bow hunt I walk out back door with saddle on tie off in tree 25 or 35yds from my 3D targets and shoot a shot or 2 or if I’m hunting in the morning before I go inside. Sometimes I’ll climb up to the platform but most of the time just snap in sit down and shoot from any angle. There is absolutely some getting used to when you’re so used to having your back to a tree to having the tree in front of you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. You bring up a great point, when AR’s first became law where I hunted the Catskills I found 3 bucks on public land that all seemed to be hit well and none of them had 3pts on one side. I assume they were all shot and left when the shooter realized they weren’t legal. I have way more respect for someone who would get caught trying to get it home than for someone that would just leave it in the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Sometimes, but no real plans this year unless I shoot my buck in the ADKS in time to head to head to Maine or New Hampshire. If there’s snow I will hunt Mass’s late muzzleloader in the birkshires. Didn’t count it but sept 27- through I think it’s the 17th of dec is close to 80 days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Timbertall made a hell of a climber, too bad they had to close shop. Don’t think I’m the best at anything just someone who spends 80+ days a year deer hunting and spends a lot of time preparing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. There is zero downside to a lighted knock, I wouldn’t hunt without them. Blackhorn is the cleanest, most consistent and most reliable black powder replacement made. The only downside is that some guns won’t shoot it. A saddle is the safest, quietest, fastest, lightest, most comfortable, most mobile and easiest to carry method of hunting from a tree that is available today. I don’t know of anyone that’s tried one that went back to a climber. I know for an absolute fact I will never use a climber again and haven’t since I bought my saddle. There’s not a tree that’s big enough to support my weight that I can’t use my saddle in, I no longer have to find the tree I just need to find the spot. Edit: there is one downside to the saddle I have found and that is that it’s impossible to take a shit out of the stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I would put money on proving you wrong. I don’t know what climber you’re have but I have lone wolf a summit a X stand and a ol’ man and none of them as fast as my saddle, spikes are the fastest for me but you can’t use them everywhere, even with sticks I’m faster than I ever was with any climber.
