I’m a huge fan of single shots for first guns. The old H&R’s are very good and can be had for a couple hundreds the cva’s are very good as well. There are many reasons why I like single shots for a first real rifle but the biggest is knowing if it’s empty or loaded, if it’s empty it should be open if it’s loaded it should be closed, this takes out any guess work when everyone is excited in the heat of the moment. Prison guard for the state, we can swap shifts 365 days out. It takes 4 doubles a week for a couple months but it gives me hunting season off. It’s the only reason I have the job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I meant to say snows in the trees not on the ground.. While it’s snowing and when the snows on the trees it’s too hard to try and keep a scope clean and dry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wouldn’t consider myself a “good” hunter but I can say I have shot way more deer that were downwind of me than deer I have shot from stands I wasn’t in because I was worried about getting winded. Back when I did sit if the sign and activity was showing me a particular stand I would hunt it regardless of wind, the buck might change his routine tomorrow and you could miss your opportunity. Now that 95% of my bowhunting is done on my feet I check the wind from time to time but in the adks it changes with every 10 steps so you just have to hunt or you wouldn’t get anywhere. Other than using common sense and not pumping gas and wearing hunting clothes to Walmart I have virtually no scent mitigation routine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Mutt has gotten it twice this year I’ve tried everything and if he gets wet he still smells like a skunk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My number 1 happens way before I step foot in the woods #practice- you have the whole year to prepare for the second that matters. Hunting the wind isn’t in my top 5 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

82lbs 30” draw of the 40ish deer I’ve shot with this or similar setup I be had 1 not pass through and it hit far shoulder. Last year after shoulder surgery I was shooting 48lbs with 27” draw length both complete pass throughs. If you’re 0 for 6 I’m guessing your bow is out of tune. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In my opinion open iron sights are darn near useless on a hunting rifle. A quality peep is a different story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When it’s game time and there’s snow on the ground and I’m tracking in the Adks I wouldn’t be caught dead with a scope. For all other hunting I would hate to be without an optic of some sort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pulled the trigger on a deer rifle

If I had to pick 1 cartridge for the rest of my life and it couldn’t be .358 diameter it would have to be a 7mm-08, I’ve always been amazed how it kills critters way beyond its numbers. It’s hands down in the running for the best do all cartridge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

99% of getting scoped is a crappy scope without enough eye relief and someone that doesn’t know how to properly shoot. You have the scope part covered with that glass, make sure pulls it into her shoulder and there shouldn’t be any problems! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

120gn Barnes Ttsx is about as good of a load as you can get for the 7-08 very little recoil my 11 yr old daughter shoots her single shot cva with no problems. When I bought it I got a couple boxes of the reduced recoil and ran out of them and she’s been shooting the Barnes since and didn’t notice a difference. That 120gn copper bullet performs as good or better as any 140gn lead bullet I’ve tried. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
