  2. I guess why make a bigger hole than you need to? You only need a small 18 inch cut to gut a deer in 5 minutes. I'm gutting not butchering. You split that pelvis and the legs are more prone to flop open, it also tends to let the hair and skin slide and expose quality meat up the hams. To each their own, I mean you can split it from chin to tail with a machete but why?
  3. I have dragged some deer for 4-5 hours they were shot so far back in. Through swamps and blow downs up and over and through and all kinds of shit. If you are hunting those pretty, manicured and mowed trailed pieces I get ya. Still no reason to split them like a spatchcock chicken either except if you really need to cool them down.
  4. Pruning apple trees is a pita. I have a huge tree dead center back yard and i could spend a week pruning it every year and need a lift bucket to do it. Which I don't have and am getting too old to hang 20 feet up in a tree!! My tip keep your trees small!
  5. I have an uncle and a neighbor that will take any I shoot. They are trappers. As long as its not all shot to heck. I am of the same mindset that I try my best to use whatever I take. Yotes, woodchucks and flippin chipmunks are my only exception.
  6. I never split the pelvis or cut up the sternum. It just opens up more access for contamination. If you shoot big enough deer it's easy to reach up and cut off windpipe and esophagus lol. The only time I would even consider it is if the temp was real high and I needed to cool quicker. On does make sure to cut out the complete milk sack as it holds heat and spoils quick. I don't use gloves and almost always gut where they drop unless a landowner requests different.
  7. Congratz to you and the wife Biz!! Your life will be forever changed. My baby girl is now 20 and what a blessing. Just don't make her shoot a Mathews!!

  11. Love this company. Sent back a pack when the season ended that the shoulder straps were getting close to coming apart after years of overstuffed abuse. A couple days later they call saying it can’t be fixed what new pack can we send you. Got a new one coming in the mail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I brought on suitcase empty that I put 39.5 pounds of frozen in to checked baggage. The cargo hold is not heated so even better. I bought a nice soft side cooler to put another 25 pounds in as my carry on. All went well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Congratz Nomad....I think... I remember asking my wife's parents for their blessing. They let me sweat a minute or two but made it pretty easy. I should have been suspicious immediately!! I have tried to return her a few times now and they insist there are no returns or warranty! I did have a related funny encounter. My Mom first introduced me to husband #3 before they were hitched and I was coming in from hunting so carrying a gun, unshaven, wearing a knife.......he still brings up he was a bit intimidated lol.
  19. Now that deer season is over I will be back to cooking regularly!! I did do a fantastic spatchcocked smoked 15 pound turkey Sunday that was well received. Had it in brine it for 3 days prior. Man it was good. Sorry no pics. Doing some wild hog tonight.

And 12 days of Christmas before with one item each day. I’ve never bought a pack for more than half price. In fact I should have a new one on my porch when I get home.
