Go to the NYS trapping show in herkimer NY at the fair grounds it's a great show lots of vendors and also hosts a trapping class(May be spots left idk). Demos on trap setting also worth going 100 percent I go every year As far as trapping goes really need to figure out what and where you want to catch. So can better point you toward the right gear. As far as preserving the hide just send it out it's relatively cheap and will last forever. The at home kits work I guess but never had any experience with them myself. Youtube is your friend on how to set traps for each species and also how to skin and flesh and dry properly. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

Way far from me good luck. Lots of good info here. Make sure you practice from height too shooting from treestands is different from ground level. Also pick up a bleat can. I use mine more than I should but have had a lot of luck with it Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

I've been hunting from the time I could walk. Walking thru fields with dad shooting woodchuck first bb gun at 3 and real gun at 8. As soon as I took my course I was in the woods daily afterschool and durring the summer shooting all the rodents I could find. 13 I convinced my dad I wanted to bowhunt and we joined a 3d league with the guys he worked with. Took me 10 years to kill a deer with my bow as I get super jittery and know I try to peek always throwing my shots low. My first trip out with a gun for deer my dad was on a wood line probably 3 or 400 yards in front of me (prerifle) and we had the walkie ear buds in he warned me of a nice buck comming down headgerow toward me. When I turned around the buck was maybe 20 yards form me. Being young and inexperienced I let that old h&r single shot 12 gauge bark. And bark again 4 shots I got off before that deer was out of range. Then ad soon as it turned the corner.....bang dad's friend shot it and dropped in place no wounds from me. I was addicted spent every minute in the woods and still do to this day. Dad doesn't hunt as much mainly due to hating the cold and crossbow opening so late. But still get out a few time a year and am now dragging my boy and cousins around for the trips too. For me it's a lifestyle I hope I never have to give up and hope I never loose interest or the want to sit in the dark and listen to the woods wake up..... Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

I girl in Olean was convicted for manslauter for selling laced heroin to someone just made front page last few days. I will tell you my little sister is head of a big rehab clinic in Sc where she deals with it on a daily basis and watches people throw their lives away. I for one am more for a strike deal not 3 we will give it to you once after that sorry but your choices suck. Why would we keep saving people who don't want to be saved. I grew up in Canandaigua and at least 10 people I went to HS with have od. It's a shame and some were real shockers when I heard. The problem is the way we handle them we need a drug jail. You od you get caught with it you go there (rehab jail if you will). Drs on hand for withdrawal but when released you would be clean. Then the choice would be yours again. If happens again no rehab jail but regular jail and for some time. Now a days seems like you get caught with it there's no punishment they take it charge you. You go to court claim mental instability and your right back to using. Crazy world Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

I grew up hunting fishing trapping for as long as I can remember. I was 11 when I got my trapping licence and began running my own line. I was hunting alone by 12 with real firepower. It's all I've ever known. Fished all summer behind wegmans with dad. Catching bluegill and bass. Still do to this day at least once a month. My boy is 7 has a 22 bb gun compound and xbow (bows are very beginner level) and I think he likes hunting (more so shooting) as much as I do. He hates sitting for long but loves seeing the deer. We have had 2 extremely close calls with nice bucks during bow season that ended up being wounded and taken on different dates. Hopefully this will be his first season out with me during gun season. Trying to get his patience level increased lol. He's been running my trap line with me for 4 years now. He's real into that even tried setting his own in the garden. He doesn't seem to care to much for fishing but likes catching. We are both learning trolling of the fingerlakes together now. Lol He was super pumped today when a doe walked right thru our side yard while they were outside playing. By the way somehow I completely missed how this was all about fishing orginally. Sorry lawd

I'm going to do what I can to hold off for a bigger buck during bow season. Altho I hunt for meat is like to put one on the wall with my bow Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

If you want to extend season bow gives you 6 more weeks min. But learning curve is longer and would need to start shooting ASAP. 0 to 30 yard range for average new shooter. If you want to make simple and easy and fill freezer xbow is where it's at. Simple to use easy to get good with and accurate as all get out. Best 2 weeks of archery season. 0 to 30 yards for new shooter. Don't let anyone tell you a xbow will out reach a compound not gonna happen when it comes to 40 plus shots and having energy left to penetrate IMO compound wins that battle every time.
