I'm looking forward to a fun evening. Looks like a lot of the rascals will be out and about!!! Makes for good conversation. In 1976 we climbed flag-poles and light-poles in that parking lot to steal banners. Yer not gonna do that are ya. I promised the gal at City Hall that we were civil people.

Tell Mabel I said Hi. Well... uhh...em...er...I'm running for Senator dammit... Don't complicate things...

Glad to hear it my friend. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow night. You guys won't be sleeping on my floor will ya? I really don't want to have to turn on the shop-vac.

There were three or four guys who were going to be passing through the area that night, they contacted me, and we set up a time and place to get together. It meshed with all the plans and it was posted here and has become an actual GTG in the area. There's nothing nefarious about a group of people wanting to sit down and have dinner and drinks together. If you want to wait until the next one, that's your prerogative, but I think this one will be fun. Pygmy suggested an earlier GTG because he doesn't like to drive at night. I don't either, to be honest, so maybe the next one will be a lunchtime GTG.

What the hell is this miss mosh.....
philoshop replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Are they dairy farmers or crop farmers? Rows of wheat would suggest they're crop farmers, so they likely won't mow that field. They'll till it under and replant. -
Next one will be a lunch-time gathering. I promise. This one was scheduled around a few people who were going to be in the area around dinner time. I don't like the monsters either.

I'm not a farmer, and certainly no expert on crop rotation. The farmers I work for point toward whatever tractor I'll be driving that day and whatever implement I'll be pulling, then tell me which field to head toward. I'm an agricultural robot tractor driver but I pay attention and I've learned learned a few things along the way. :-) Any chance that the land has changed hands recently? I see that quite a bit, where the land is in the sales process and just not worked for a season because the money dosn't know which way to flow. And the owner is rarely the guy who owns the tractors. I'd put ten bucks on the table that the field will be tilled in the next two months (barring a land transfer agreement) and that little sprouts of winter wheat will be peaking out in November/December. That would make it a field to keep an eye on for the late season. Again, best of luck to you. -

Looks like quite a mix of previous plantings and just plain overgrown grass. IOW, a fallow field. Farmers will do that now and then to naturally put some nutrients back into the soil without having to spend money on fertilizer. My guess is that it will be disced or plowed under either this fall or early next year, and if I had to wager I'd bet on the fall before everything turns brown. Don't be surprised if you hear a tractor while you're in your stand. The tractor won't really bother the deer, but they may switch things around a bit if they've been feeding in that field and their browse has suddenly disappeared. On the flip-side the farmer may be planning on winter wheat which could be good for late season hunting. Best of luck to you. -
I don't know what's going on. If I mistakenly pushed a button or something I could fix it. I've never posted on youtube so I can't imagine it's about revenge/retribution or whatever else Google is up to. I'm just confounded. It's hard to listen to news shows while cooking breakfast when there's no sound from the news show.

No ideas? Still no audio today and I don't know if it's just me or if it's a youtube thing. I get a lot of my news and information through youtube, (no TV), and while I can read the captioning it's annoying to not have the audio.

As previously stated, Runnings is a decent, nearby place to start with a good selection. They never seem to have exactly what I'm looking for but if I have a list they will generally have the second or third choice. Mostly I just buy on-line. :-( Sorry to hear about Beikirchs, that was a favorite when I worked in the Rochester area. Creekside was another old-fashioned gun shop that I miss. I bought a lot of guns, ammo, and reloading components from both places over the years. Sad to think that they're just history now. The smell of Hoppes #9 almost brings me to tears in this day and age.

Everything else on the computer is working, but I'm not getting any audio from youtube downloads. What's up? Any help, suggestions, or information would be welcome.

A trail cam will get the definitive pic. Unless they don't come out at night, mostly... That is pretty creepy.

Handgun holsters. Who uses what?
philoshop replied to Bionic's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I've heard some very good things about 'We The People' holsters. I don't currently own one, but I may very soon. Lots of adjustability and about 25 bucks. Seems like something to try. -
Bring the boat and fish Seneca Lake for a while before the GTG. I haven't kept up on the fishing reports but my gut tells me there's something biting right now in that lake.

For anyone wanting to make a weekend of it, there's a "cruise-n-nite" tonight on that street. Lots of cool cars and old classic guys drinkin' beer. :-) It'll be over before Sunday, however. It's not as much fun as the Italian Festival, they have better food, but having beers with people/veterans who build cool cars is a good way to spend an evening and make some friends.

The "Boy Crisis" in America
philoshop replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Try hiring someone to carry shingles up a ladder for you. It's been years since I've met an American kid who will even think about that kind of work. -
Looks like about 15 now, not counting spouses or children. Looks like a good GTG! Plus, I just want to keep this on the front page so more people see it. I told the owner we were looking at 10 to 12 people, and he said he'd rearrange the restaurant as necessary if there were 20 to 30 of us.
-
Are you going to be able to stick around for Sunday? Hope to see you at the GTG. The Smallies should be hot right now. Fast action, great fighters, and about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. ;-)
-
Happy Birthday my internet friend!! Maybe I'll see you Sunday.

This is gonna be fun.

I'll be hiding my antlers and my face behind a menu. There is no back door, it's a 30 ft drop to the alley. ;-)

I misspoke. Strong IPA's is what I meant. I'll be looking for the bunny suit. ;-)
