Have some good videos taken from Saturday's shoot I will be posting soon.

120 this morning. Still not flying in big numbers. Picture of the mojo’s. Had already picked up the hard bodies, flick s flicks and and bouncers

Hunting over decoys is really insane shooting. You can watch videos on You Tube from Soar No More. That is exactly the kind of shooting we have. Most of our shoots are just me any my nephew, so we rarely shoot more than 250-300 birds as it it is over by 8:30 a.m. More than 3 shooters gets a little hard to manage. He and I have a good rhythm and understanding how we want to shoot a group as they are coming in and we work good together. We took a couple friends who were a bit selfish and would shoot too fast or not wait for the call and then ruin it for everyone. Although it is fun to see 200 birds descend at once over the decoys, we prefer 8-10 in a group and pick our shots. Many times we will shoot the entire group.

The farm hands at one of the farms takes some. Most of these birds are city birds going out to the farms to feed. Rats with wings. I wont eat them. We strictly shoot for pest control for the farmers.

We didn’t take any pictures this morning. Here are couple from last summer. I will take some if our set up and post next hunt

We got 60 this morning. We didn’t expect huge numbers as the cutting just started this week. If they are able to keep cutting this week then next week we should hopefully get the 250-300 bird shoots. But it was great to get out. I will monitor the wheat fields heavily this week and see what happens.

Wheat is finally getting cut. Tomorrow is our opening hunt. Added 2 more rotary pigeons, this time from Lucky Duck, brining our spread to 6 rotaries…and 2 bouncers..added a dozen more incredible silhouette dekes. All in…with all my other decoys…its going to look like central park!!! Got 10 cases of shells to start the season. Now only if the birds are on the cuttings yet. May take them a few days but we can’t wait any longer. Our goal is 1,500-2,000 birds this summer…provided the birds are flying and we are able to get 6-8 hood shoots in.

Pond goin in on the zeeks homestead

Beautiful. Very exciting to see it come together -
Can see another box blind down below. 4 more to put in. We have pictures of 4 different bears this year. 2 bruisers. One big male was following a female. Great turkey population. Saw a giant 8 last year 5 mins after legal shooting hours. We are excited to be able to walk out the back door and hunt such a beautiful property. My uncle screwed me in a parcel he promised to sell me for 25 years…then this came up. More than twice as large…more diverse…and half the price.

Thank you. It’s been a LOng time coming. It is a really beautiful property. The east and west boundaries are deep (300 plus) deep ravines/gorges with spring creeks…waterfalls. Mix of hardwoods and conifers. Small spring fed pond in the woods. Here is a picture from one of my box blinds last fall.

I just purchased 160 acres of heaven in the NZ. Will be building a house next year. It has 15 tillable acres. For planting plots etc. heavily timbered with old logging toads throughout. Im looking for an all around tractor for discing..brush hog…maybe tilling….firewood…skidding smaller logs….snow removal ….thinking 35-45 Hp…front loader a must Been looking at new Mahindras snd Kubotas…today i saw a gorgeous 2004 Cub Cadet 8404…41 hp…4wd…340 hours….loader….8 speed forward and reverse…quick shift…articulating and adjustable 3 pt hitch arms…..independent rear hydraulics…quick attach loader bucket….owned by a mechanic. Sounded beautiful. Much stronger looking tractor and loader/bucket than either the Mahindra or Kubota $15,000 firm Any thoughts? I simply never see them. It looks like the perfect set up

Ever consider a Browning BAR? I had one 7400 and now own 5 BAR’s. Remmy was heavy, unreliable and not pleasingly accurate. Just a thought. I could have had a bad one but I was very happy when I sold it. One of only 3 guns I ever sold. -
Footings for a small barn / shed
GreenDrake replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Another option, if you have plans for a concrete floor, is a monolithic slab and build up from there. You can then frame it with dimension lumber and save considerably on the costs of treated posts, etc. -
I can only speak from my 45 plus years experience. Once they fully flower I find them too bitter to eat. The closer they get to popping the more bitter they start to get.

I have the Ryobi 4 stroke with attachments from Home Depot for several years and pound it pretty hard. Still works well. I use the stihl for heavy use but the Ryobi has been fine.

Looking for a nice SxS for $1000?
GreenDrake replied to Grouse's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
She is truly one of a kind. She tried to get me to bid on a pair of 16 ga, Holland and Holland Royals last week....nope.....not necessary. I have some very expensive shotguns,,,,,but this Dickenson handles beautifully and it did not break the bank. -

Wife bought me this Dickenson 16 for Christmas. Single trigger. Handles incredibly well. -
I am not overly excited about 12 yr olds using a gun. A lot can go wrong very quickly in the heat if the moment even with supervision. There is nothing wrong with tagging along snd learning by watching before being able to fully participate. Most of us were 16 before shooting and we all did fine. I’m sure many will disagree.

Actually...Nala and Dixie

Rapini is wild Broccoli. Usually pick those in the fall. Mustard looks the same, usually referred to as "Luccia", but is very similar. Store versions are nowhere near as sweet or tender.
