Most of us that hunt bigger bucks.. really would rather go without a deer than shoot something less than we are after... none of the guys I know that track in the adirondacks even care about meat hunting .. although they all love the meat. It's all about the thrill of the hunt for us.. I love venison but don't need it to survive..I try to always take a doe in the south with my muzzleloader to donate to the venison drive. Guys get too rapped up in the I have to take a deer every year mentality.. and I hear a lot of complaining from those guys about not seeing deer.. If you look anywhere on this forum you won't see one post from me complaining about the lack of deer movement, deer sightings, deer taken ever... because those are not factors that effect my deer hunting. I will be satisfied if there is only one big buck left in NY that I can hunt..

I think my version of still hunting is a little different Doc.

you can plant 400 acres on a piece of property without it being in the same field.

Has anyone noticed that this Pocket Rocket guy gets weirder and weirder everytime he posts?.. whenever an uneducated fool is losing an argument.. he starts with the fowl language, then it gets progressively worse... It's no wonder a guy like this will defend something as foolish as that video... Blur knew when to quit.. I can at least respect him for that. And I thought the video was bad Pocket Rocket is worse than the video

I don't need to see a lot of deer.. just ONE big one!

Where I come from $500 for 10 face cord is a steal... firewood is selling for $70-$90 a cord here!... I cut my own (what little I need for my fireplace)

The sit in boredom part is what hate...although I will occasionally jump into a stand to relax and eat my lunch and enjoy a beatiful fall or winter day for a few minutes.

I didn't say it wasn't a food plot.. its a natural non-hybrid food plant...indigenous to the area... and not planted 400-1000 acres at a time.. it is not fertilized or weeded, and can only me mowed every 2 years. As for trimming existing apple trees that are 50 or more years old- I'm pretty sure that's not a food plot that was planted to attract deer. And any corn on the property is harvested before the bow season begins... nothing on the property has been done to attract deer and/ or keep them on the property. Not the same can be said for todays food plots. Thats the difference!

Yeah Doc.. that is what I call the "Realtree Mentality of South Texas" If we all got free trips to Texas where they basically farm whitetails, you would want to pass up 2.5 and 3.5 because there are numerous bucks there that are much older... such is not the case anywhere in NY. Those ranches are privately own, giant pieces of land that have sell hunts... although most in the TV hunting community consider it fair chase... I believe most of us would see it much differently. Although the concept works well for creating monster bucks and definitely great for age structure.. I think it leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to a natural way of managing whitetails and maintaining a true sense of fair chase.. I think this is where the opponents of AR have gotten the idea that all of us proponents are just trophy hunters. Again thats just my opinion... by the way... south texas has become the most popular place for TV hunting shows over the last ten years... I wonder why?

Not cutting your throat... just think you are way out there buddy when it come to defending that video.. and your argument for the video is very weak and misguided.. and if you go against the grain you have to expect that the going might be rough... you have every right to defend those guys in the video and chose to accept their disrespect , but if you are gonna take that stance you should be prepared for the onslaught from more repectful hunters.

He's got me convinced so far!

As far a a 22 shell goes.. I have always used CCI's or CCI mini Mags... they don't coat their shells and they never seem to have a problem ejecting... I have a touchy S&W 4" .22 auto pistol and it will only eject the CCI's

Geez I don't know Bubba.. he's younger than 50 years old (I'm thinking much younger), he has 28 more friends than us that think its a hoot to drag a 90 lb wounded doe around by its leg, a honeyhole of 200 family owned acres that has it ALL over the Adirondacks, has a "pat himself on the back" deer story for every point he makes (which eliminates the "unarmed" theory), and a modern cell phone complete with email that apparantly you can't get if over 70... I just don't know how we can compete.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to that day coming either.. "Gunner" is really slowing down and he will be sorely missed in this household when he goes.

Of course you do! What was I thinking???

If there were no heated debates I don't think guys would find it as entertaining or interesting... Even with some of the most heated debates... (and I know Doc knows what I'm talking about ) there is usually a level of repect given, except for maybe one or two times which I apologize for Doc.
