Don't get me wrong.. I'm not against QDM.. i just not into food plots all that much
-
Never shot a deer? Are you even a hunter Blur...? you sound more and more like a PETA guy.
-
We still don't know if they tagged it or reported it..
-
www.landandcamps.com I bought my land and cabin in tug hill.. they have land all over and very reasonable
-
As another sidenote.. I have gotten away from actually speaking about "deer management" as QDM... I am completely for managing whitetails for the betterment of healthy herds given the available habitat. And a huge proponent of a better age structure for bucks... but when I hear the term QDM now it reminds me nothing of what I thought of the program 17 years ago... the more I see QDM promoting more oversized hybrid food plots the more I think of it as deer farming... and even though I'm basically for most of what they promote outside of that.. that particular aspect just doesn't sit well with me.

Made the guys famous?? I have no idea what their names are and don't care.. they will always be remembered as those idiots in that stupid video..If that makes a person famous then I cancel my subscription to famous ..lol

Almost all the Whitetail Clover like BIOLOGIC and others which hunters are buying are hybrids of natural white clover and other natural clovers developed specifically for antler growth and the growing of big deer... Not that I'm against big deer... which everyone here knows about me by now...I just don't like the increase in introduced food plot products designed to speed up antler growth or used as a tool to keep deer isolated to a certain piece of property. It likens itself to farming deer in my eyes. Again this is just my own opinion based on what I've seen develope with QDM in the last 17 years. As a sidenote.. I was one of the first along with Charlie Alshiemer to speak on the subject of Quality Deer Management in NYS back in 1994 I did numerous seminars all over NY at that time on QDM.. I was also spent some time with the first qdm program ever in NY at the Weller Mountain Hunting Club in the mid 90's There were just a handful of hunters in NY that even knew what QDM was back then... So I know a bit about QDM and the increase in the importance of food plots promoted by the QDMA has always bothered me as I have noticed that their website and most of there advertisers are centered around just that. I think that is a lot of the reason hunters have taken up the notion that deer management is about creating trophy bucks and thats not suppose to be the reason at all.

I think it is funny though how people always say they want to see a regular guy in politics... well Pallidino was as regular as it gets... he spoke his mind like a lot of us on here do and people (even supporters gave him flack about it) Finally a guy that said it like it was and people still didn't like it.. I think I just will never understand ??? -
I am ok with improving bedding, brows and food in a natural way.. without hybrid type food plots designed just for improving the quality of the bucks. Planting bushes for browse and small patches of natural clovers and such are great. But planting 2500 acres of hybrid clover and other hybrid food plots for a heard of maybe 50 deer makes me question the motive behind the planting. As far as altering the deer pattern... one would be altering the pattern in my favor (ie. Planting huge food plots on my property) and the other would be altering the pattern against my favor (ie. deer drives, excessive odor, etc.) Again, I'm not against food plots at all.. just not in favor of some of the motives behind certain types and quantities of plantings. And remember I'm a guy who is pro QDM.

I would love to hear what those two guys in the video would have to say to defend themselves here on this thread... I would bet it would be the most over used expression by an uneducated man when faced with having to defend the undefendable.. " F U Guys!"
-
I would have to say if I put in my time scouting and patterning deer, and I put a stand up to WAIT, I have put in my hunting time before I put the stand up. That might be true for those that actually do any true scouting and almost nobody actually pattern deer... which there are some probably like yourself Bubba that might, but I would bet there are more hunters that just put their stands in the same place as last year or still have the stand up from last year ..that just grab their stuff out of the closet and head out to wait each year. That would be most of the hunters that argue they don't have much time to hunt.. meaning they don't have much time to scout either. Like I said.. the treestand thing is just how I feel about treestands as it pertains to me and what I think is hunting... But I guess hunting means something a little different to everyone. I bet even some hardcore bowhunters don't think much of gun hunters as true hunters...
-
But they were still HUNTING under their laws... and they did it all with lesser equipment than we have today.
-
I agree about the alone thing.. when I'm truly hunting I hunt alone..although I love going with a buddy using my camera...
-
I'm not concerned with keeping deer on my property with food plots so that the neighbors won't see any deer.. last I remembered this wasn't a contest between me and my neighbor.. could be why some of you don't get along with the neighbors during hunting season. I'm not against all food plots.. just the ones designed to hinder the natural movement of whitetails. A 10 acre food plot on 11acres of land surrounded by a huge farm doesn't make sense to me. Might as well just throw out a pile of corn and call it what it is...
-
As soon as the idiots decide to publicly broadcase their idiocracy.. it becomes everyones business... in fact, that's why they put it out there.. the fat ass thought that everyone would think the video was cool of him manhandling a wounded animal then shooting it in the head and laughing about it still twitching...Well I'm sure by now they both realize that it wasn't cool..and this Christian doesn't think these jerks in the video are anything close to hunters, nor the people that would defend them.

Love old adirondack pics... great stuff
-
How about that the same Month and year I was born.. great pic
-
I know I will take some flack for this one.. but I have never thought sitting in a treestand was hunting... I have always thought of it as waiting. I'm not saying- guys shouldn't sit in treestands and shoot deer.. it's just my OWN opinion

Here is how I see it... The state comes up with a budget... then tries to find a way to afford that budget... so they tax the people then borrow some money to make things balance out. Excuse me if I'm old school.. but isn't it suppose to be?.. check you wallet... ok i have $100 bucks for groceries.. so my budget is $100...then go out and buy groceries staying within the $100 buget. NOT.. buy $150 of groceries.. check you're wallet... oops have only $100.. then go around the store and ask people for money... then next week do it all over again.. Wonder what the girlfriend is gonna cost us? -
One of the things we do on our 700 acre lease is trim the old apple orchards so they yeild more apples... it is an agricultural area with corn and soybeans planted... the farmer does plant some white clover as part of a NYS program for the animals.. but it is not a hybrid clover... just natural white clover that the deer dig down to eat during the winter months. The deer are extremely healthy looking deer so we see no need to suppliment their diet with mineral blocks or hybrid type food plots. Guys plant food plots under the guise of "feeding the deer to make them healthier" when in reality they are just using it as a means to keep deer on their property or in front of their treestand...just not my thing is all

Yeah he was just a young crotch horn..

A good guided hunt (although they are not my thing) is really no different than if I took someone tracking with me in the adirondacks to help them learn how its done... although I would be the guy with the knowledge and would be leading the way that wouldn't mean that the other guy was less of a hunter or would be hunting any less than me... He would still have to be just as stealthy and would still have to be proficient with a firearm... along with being in good shape. I think he would qualify as a true hunter. Even if on that particular hunt i saw the deer first and he killed it.. and even if I was kind enough to gut it for him and help him drag it out. Be glad to take you with me sometime Doc and when we're done at the end of the day, successful or not you let me know whether you were truly hunting or not..

A DEER??? I thought that was a jackalope
