My God that is a screamer!!! Is that from 2005? -
Sky's lab looking for antler I think..

Cajun Motel??

right Sam.. love to hear the hunting tale that would go with that one.
-
I would feel better if another hunter hunted that buck and killed him another day. His story would definitely be better than mine..

Do you wear Orange? If so why? If not Why not? :)
nyantler replied to TheHunter's topic in General Hunting
Absolutely... -
Some guys just do not understand that killing is not all that hunting is about.. at least for most of us.. if they banned weapons all together tomorrow I would still be out hunting and trying to capture a beautiful buck on camera... it is always about the excitement of the hunt for me, not the kill. The kill is just the bonus sometimes for all the time and hours put in.. but without a good hunt and a good story to go with it.. the kill would mean nothing to me. A freind of mine and I were driving home from a weekend hunt in the Adirondacks, when we saw a huge probably 150 class buck run across the road chasing a doe. The buck stopped in a field on state land. We stopped and watched the buck for about 10 minutes just standing in the field 50 yards away... paying no attention to us. I had my gun in the car and a shell not far away.. my friend said I should get out and shoot the buck.. I told him no.. he asked "Are you serious? He'll make the book!" I said.. "Yeah, and what story would I tell when someone asked how I got him? Thats not hunting." He said, "you're right" we watched the buck lope off a few minutes later behind the doe. Athough it was a great experience it was not a hunting experience.

One more thing and i'll be done with my rant.. why is it that hunters believe the whitetail numbers but don't believe the coyote numbers? ok I'm done..phew!

can you imagine not following up a shot on this deer.
nyantler replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Deer Hunting
Isn't this where someone says "We need to make not following up on your shot, illegal." ? -
One minute the DEC is doing a great job with the numbers .. then the next it isn't... which is it?.. the numbers will only be as good as the guy doing the figuring... what difference do the numbers mean anyway when the DEC will squash a regulation if they can get only 20% of the hunters to strongly disagree with the regulation.

Absolutely Culver.. We use to hunt dump bears years ago and the meat definitely wasn't as good as bears we hunted where they only ate berries and nuts.

I think we already have manipulation with hybrid food plots and mineral supplement blocks.. even by those that are against AR. And although there are those that claim the food plots aren't being used that way.. we all know better. As for having 120, 130, 140 class bucks, thats the way it's suppose to be..every other animal has natural age class structure in both male and female.. except the whitetail deer in NY. Lets just say we hunted bald eagles the way we hunt whitetails in NY... you'd never see one with a white head...because very few would grow to maturity. The fact that NY hunters won't allow for a reresentative age structure in whitetail bucks is all about hunters only caring about themselves not the deer.

I think I'm kinda with you on this one.. although I will admit I've seen other video of this kind of hunting that was cool to watch
-
Ain't that the truth?... bet the guy won't unload a weapon in a vehicle again... unfortunate way to have to learn a lesson.
-
Just curious why one would unload a gun in the vehicle? Terrible he had to lose his foot..

Well, the male variety usually doesn't have to cope with any stress for many years at all, usually not more than a yr or so. I stand corrected That was funny
-
nice pics...
-
Excellent idea.. I saw 3 big bucks there! they just haven't grown up yet
-
Good crop there..
-
Coolest thing I've ever seen.. great looking lab
-
Deer have been coping with that kind of stress for many many years... not having enough to eat is a far bigger problem.
