I try to keep in mind that a deer is mostly nocturnal, so where you find the most sign is where they are at night. Look for the trails leading to and from those areas, don't necessarily set up on the sign. Basic info, I know, but sometimes we get too excited over sign

same here. And most years I do kill a doe in the first two weeks so one less doe will be taken in 9F

I found a flock using a cut hay field that I'm going to hunt tomorrow, I've got layouts but how best to hide them? Just gather up as much grass as possible and cover them?
-
I remember hearing that only 5% of NY hunters take two bucks, so it wouldn't make any difference if we went to a one buck rule
-
I have it in a window on my backpack. I know it's not the correct way, if I ever got ticketed for it I'd just pay it
-
I found a field full of geese this morning that I can hunt, I'll be there Tuesday!

Agreed. If opening day of gun was doe only more does would be taken than this entire nonsense plan. This is just so they can say "okay you had your chance, now we have to try early ML"

I hunt deer with a .270 and lately I'm obsessed with session IPAs. Founders All Day IPA in particular.

. Unless it's a bucket. Buckets in the woods are magic spots
-
I just caught a bunch of blue gills and rock bass on a nymph in Mirror Lake, so I'm calling this trip a success
-
I fished about four hours this morning and couldn't find a fish. But the scenery was amazing and it beat shopping!
-
. Good point!

youre going to have the time of your life. Maine is awesome and having a bear come in is indescribable. Ive gone bear hunting four times and killed three bears it's fantastic
-
You have nothing to worry about, a bear is not going to attack you. Methhead maybe, but not a bear
-
Can you suggest a spot? I always fish it at whiteface and catch a bunch of stockers but no big or native fish
-
Excitement, exhaustion, I don't know what to tell you
-
I did this last year

My buddy always says that Tautog have heads like Joe Louis and teeth like Jerry Lewis, sheepshead are about the same!
-
I've caught them in Third Lake Creek so stuffed with bugs they were coming out of their mouths and they're still eating. By the way have you fished Sumner Brook? I'm going to lake placid this weekend and want to try somewhere other than the Ausable

Love it! If brookies were six feet long it would be unsafe to swim in freshwater

I'm going up this weekend, can someone recommend a stream/river besides the Ausable? I've fished that a few times

I think it's all about the world class fishing we have

How do you dispose of coyote carcasses?
The_Real_TCIII replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
this is different, there's a pit next to the drive and they throw lots of Carcasses in there, not just the occasional deer. Skinned coyotes and foxes too. I cut up three or four deer at home and take the time to bag up the remains every year -

I've thought about it but I will have to have some trickery or else the camera will disappear
