almost all school budgets go thru?? Big Rant!
NYDeer replied to sits in trees's topic in General Chit Chat
I can see higher earnings for difficult stuff, math, physics, ect, but we have someone hired for a technology dept at a premium for his skill set, that was later dissolved, teaching 2nd grade for $130K+.. Over 60% of teachers are making $100k plus bennies, and I'm STILL searching for any other profession that gets 30 STEP or longetivity payments, plus annual increases.. If you know, sign me up! -
This was an awesome weekend, better than what I had expected. You will learn 3 std shooting positions, rapid loading/mag prep, proper use of the sling, and why manksmanship IS a truly American thing, especially for the 1770's. They weave the Amercian revolution events & explain them as the early americans understood what was happening at the time.. If you go, bring sunblock, and lots of ammo.. All the sand at the range charbroiled by left eartop not hugging the stock to the point of scabbing over 3 days later. Ammo, I shot off 450 7.62X39 from my modded SKS, then a few hundred .22 from an instructors 1022 loaner rifle. Some shooters went though 800 rounds over 2 days.. All Riflemen made that day used scoped .22 semi autos. I didnt make the Rifleman grade, but fuzzy animals, watch out under 200 yards..

Bring a drop cloth to shoot off of. Makes picking up shells really easy & quick, unless your gun throws them good.

FYI.. Picked up my turkey stamp last week, and asked about LT Marine Lisc refund. Guy said some have gotten them, but I should call DEC..

If its chilly, I'll throw them on truck floor under the heat for the ride upstate.

Got a Senator Zelden promo piece today in the mail taking credit for this repeal.. Wonder how true it is..

I usually go brookhaven, for the safety factor, but your limited to shooting from the bench. Great for zeroing in, testing round workups, but I haven't seen a bench in the hunting woods yet. Avoid on weekends if possible though, crowded.

Hit wally world, Everstart MAXX grp 75 deep cycle, was under $100.. and has a 18mo or 2yr replacement warranty.. BUT these are vented bats, so installing inside is out.

Law abiding NY residents face some of the toughest regulation for pistol licensing, including NYS & FBI fingerprint background checks. If you are a normal, law abiding citizen, you will likely pass these, and under reasonable expectations, get a pistol permit. Unfortunately, current NY State Law has allowed localized politics & licensing officers to add additional restrictions & requirements, to hinder granting permits. Even if you 'do the dance' correctly, you still may not get it. NYS Senate Bill S1863 works to correct that. Even application of the law, for all New Yorkers, while strengthening it with mandatory NCIS Background check as well. It's in the hands of the Codes Committee, and they need to hear from us. The bills status page: http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/api/1.0/html/bill/S1863-2011 Please send a letter/e-mail to the Chair of the Codes Committee directly, Senator Stephen Saland. (Email address: [email protected]) (http://www.nysenate.gov/senator/stephen-m-saland) Albany Office, State Street Room 504-Capitol Albany,NY12247 Phone:518-455-2411 District Office ,3 Neptune Road Suite A19B Poughkeepsie,NY12601 Phone:845-463-0840 District Office, 389 Fairview Avenue Hudson,NY12534,Phone:518-828-1529 Just a simple letter supporting Bill S1863 is all that is necessary. Short and sweet.....remember, you get more bees with a teaspoon ofhoney than with a gallon of vinegar. Here is the sample letter I used, feel free to cut & paste to your own email. Full name & address are advisable, to be taken seriously. Dear Senator Stephen Saland, Please support "S1863-2011: Relates to licenses to carry, possess, repair and dispose of firearms". Law abiding citizens, who have successfully undergone New York State's strict application process including New York State andFederal Bureau of Investigations fingerprint background checks, should not be 'penalized' for residing in different areas of New York State by local licensing officers. S1863-2011 corrects this un-even application of the law, and strengthens it with mandatory NCIS Background check. Looking forward for your support on S1863-2011,

Anyone participate in one? If you never heard of it, it's a rifleman training & shooting session to teach skills of the Rifleman the revolutionary war soldiers had-- the ability to place 3 'head shots' at 250 yards.. http://www.appleseedinfo.org/ I'm trying to go to one, provided I get off from work, and my butt to the range to get ready..

There's a bunch of posts on http://www.longislandfirearms.com There are a few fundraisers planned to aid with the defense funds..

Thanks everybody. He has a private property shooting arrangement upstate where he lives, no formal range time yet to see what it will do.. He was set on a Mini, almost bought a used one topped with a cheapo scope, but we found this new for $50 more. He loves it, but not sure if it's the actual gun or just spraying lead all over..

If there is NO re-cert/safety requirement for auto drivers licenses, enough said! Cars injure/kill 100,000 or more for every 1 hunting fatality..

I surely doubt any 'secrets' were revealed, any any 1/2 brain with internet access could get the same info.. Rice likes headlines, she has ambition, and the entire DA's office & budget behind her, so she'll use it as such..

Our family was blessed this past Saturday with a healthy, good looking, nib Mini-14. My son, the new proud papa posed for a quick photo with 'Jr'. .223 Rem, Satin stainless with wood stock. Came with scope rings, and a gun padlock. He also picked up twin 20 round mags, so Mini will be feedings will be substantial.

Sure am Glad I didnt make a 'side' trip to the Auburn BPS on my syracuse trip.. I went to the Myrtle Beach BPS years ago, and the people were very helpful. I wonder if the Auburn store has trouble finding 'outdoors' knowledgeable people to man the store..

I had the old Magellan 38. Reception was so-so, but so simple to use, I loved it. I have the Etrex something (summit or vista) now, and it's too confusing for some stuff.. plus the 'knob/joystick' thing gets activated in my pocet sometimes, a PIA.. finds satellites great though. The backtrack 5 is more suited for my needs I think & will be looking into getting one as well..

Thanks for posting. I'll send it out to a few people.
