  1. I have been fortunate enough to have plenty of private deer land but for waterfowl it's generally 10-15 no's before a yes, and even then its likely other people have permission. Key is continuing to ask. Good luck rob nothing like your own place to hunt and tell people no lol.
  2. Thanks! I'll take a ride by hopefully tomorrow and check it out will let ya know if I cant
  3. Thanks wolc it's going, lots of calls on already sold tractors. Plus truck had an expensive ride home from seneca lake yesterday lol. That forf I posted was 2400 with the brush hog! Sold but he called me to let me know
  4. Nobody home and no answer on the phone, I'll call in the morning again to see. Just snapped a quick pic, Ford 4000 tires could be better but doable. Exhaust looks new lol. I'll have more info when I talk to him
  5. No decision yet I'll probably take my time honestly this just came out down the road a ways from my place
  6. Thanks reeltime! Appreciate the insight and good to hear from ya hope all is well.
  7. Good thread! I've had a few but my favorite memory was on black Friday of my first deer season. After a day of my dad and his friend trying to push deer to me with no luck, they put me in a stand for thr last hour of the day. My dads friend went to the right of me towards a ravine when I saw a huge rack at (what I know now) was about 100 yards. I shook like a leaf for what seemed an eternity trying to scope the deer, before he was even to the point of being in front of me I called my dad literally 20 plus times just to tell him of the experience. Lol if it was today it would be a different story but even though it didn't happen the way it "could" have me and my dad still laugh about it every season.
  8. Same as 9t and 9m it sucks
  9. None for my dads main land. My new house has high and high that's a plus
  10. To clarify, I had planned on a gear drive because I planned on older, more affordable for now. Tree guy got me thinking with hydro so I like to hear all pros and cons. I plan to drive a hydro as I never have other than stand on mowers (lol) Chances are high that I will end up with a 70s Ford or similar because they are reasonable and very capable. That's not to say I wont buy newer if the hydro really is much better for me. Money wise the issue is not that I "cant afford" a brand new tractor but more so that it's the responsible move to go towards a used, older tractor for the time being. I am enjoying the thread and learning alot for sure. First hand experience from some members is very useful, tree guy, wolc, and gman along with some others have lots to go on which is nice. Obviously the tests will be the final say.
  11. Nice the new Ford HD look great, I miss my Cummins more than any truck I've owned though . I hear great things about the 6.2
  12. It's not about being difficult or easy to use it's what is best for the job, either hydro or geared will work for what I want, the only tractors I've driven are geared and never had an issue, I dont mind shifting and clutching but wouldn't feel like a puss not having to do so either. Like I said this has given me alot to think about and the reality of maybe spending more than I figured. I drove the neighbors international harvester 656 today around a hay field and enjoyed it, pulled the bailer and hay trailer for him. Seems overkill for brush hogging, moving trailers around, some loader work etc lol.
  13. Classic thread lol I guess I have more to think about than I thought. I figured it would be geared because I was initially thinking of an older tractor but maybe I wait til fall and buy a new one? Idk we will see
  14. Haha that sounds like a great idea I'm sure would be good for some good times and laughs
  15. Checked a couple out recently, the Ford 3000 diesel ran very well but the 3 point didnt work at all and tires were very poor. I decided to pass on the smaller Ford 1900 as I researched after what wolc and gman said and it's not what I'm looking for. A couple others sold before I got there, I do like the Ford you posted in west Seneca wolc it may be worth a look. I guess I need to really decide if I absolutely need a loader right now on this tractor or not. I do have a bigger project that I'll be working on when the house is more complete and I have the time. Which is this Ford.
  16. I drove a 8n around that was for sale by the house, seems solid 6 volt fires right up the non live pto and hydraulic seems could be annoying but easily learned. The guy selling it is an old farmer who works on tractors around the area seemed to steer me toward live PTO but said the same thing, it's been done for years so why not. I'm looking at a Ford 1900 and 3000 diesel this weekend at some point as well which has a loader. Im partial to diesels mostly because I've always had diesel pick ups and have a good amount of knowledge and skill working on them so we will see.
  17. Thanks for the responses guys gman and wolc those posts ate very helpful and appreciated I'll be looking for one to pop up for sale.
  18. Yea my neighbors have a few like that , huge expensive machines. Cool stuff but doesn't make sense for me.
  19. Hi guys I am looking for a tractor to use for mostly brush hogging and some light food plot work. It will have a loader for work around the house but what is the best option for an older rig? Not really looking for something brand new with payments right now since I am remodeling the entire house lol. Just something reliable and able to do the listed tasks. Any info appreciated!
  20. Awesome I was on that launch last week! Love it out there.
