    New Bow 2019

Obsession's new FXL looks very intriguing. 34.5" ATA, 6.5"BH with an advertised 350 IBO. Not to mention some badass color options Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    First fly rod

Exactly, it's just a line holder. No need to spend a ton of money on one, a good smooth drag is all you need for the bigger fish, small streams you really don't even need a drag. If you do any kind of cold weather fishing a sealed drag is a must because they will freeze up on you. I bought the below rod as my first and still use it. It handles 5lb smallies all spring and never an issue. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

It's not really the size of the fish that matters in a lot of these situations. I can have just as much fun fishing small pocket water with a size 18 hares ear, catching 6" brookies as I do catching 20" browns. It's more about the setup, presentation, being stealthy, showing them what they want. I really enjoy sitting down with a whiskey at the fly tying vise and tying all afternoon. It's a lot more involved than most would think. Hell, I go through a lot of time and money to kill deer too, be cheaper for me to go buy meat but I do it because I love it. 5. My ECO buddy in Jefferson county just ran a robo deer last week and only had to wait 10 minutes for someone to shoot at it. He sent me the news article. It happens a lot more than people think in some areas and sadly most get away with it. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    New Bow 2019

Anyone get their mitts on an Obsession bow? Other than hyping their IBO a bit I haven't heard anything too negative? My buddy has one but he's a lefty so I can't try it out. I will say they have the best color options for riser/cam/limbs in the industry. They certainly are no cheaper than the top companies (other than Hoyt who wants $1500 for the RX bows). New Bow 2019

I've messed with a couple of Mathews and just never was impressed. They seem to be going shorter and shorter ATA and I'm going the opposite it seems. I'm not brand loyal at all so I'm not opposed in the future though. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    New Bow 2019

What are they putting it at IBO speed? I've shot a couple of Elite's, while they did shoot and feel nice, I felt like they're behind the game a bit in speed. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    New Bow 2019

After going to a short axle to axle bow (31" or less) I've decided they aren't for me. I shoot far better with 33"+. Which kind of sucks because bows keep getting shorter and shorter. I love how they market the short bows as "great for tree stand hunting" please... My first compound was probably 45" and I never once had an issue in a tree stand. Now they'll try to tell you a 30" bow is too big and you need a 28" ATA. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    First fly rod

I have a 9' 3wt for stockie trout and panfish, 9' 5/6 weight for bass and general purpose and a 10' 7wt for steelhead all from Maxcatch. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    First fly rod

I HIGHLY recommend Maxcatch fly rods for a beginner outfit, actually for anyone. I own 3 of these fly rods and they are awesome for the price! Their reels are great also, I use them on bass to steelhead and can't say enough about them, and if you happen to break one well you didn't spend a ton on it! You can piece together an awesome combo for right around $100+/-. Careful though, fly fishing is addicting! There's nothing more fun than stripping hand tied streamers in the spring for 5lb smallies. New Bow 2019

They used to use laminated limbs, I'm not sure about all of their models but I know the Realm Series do not have laminated limbs at all. That should solve the delamination issue. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  14. It still surprises me that so many still think they're above the law or enjoy "fighting the man." If you killed a deer, someone called the Dec on you for some Reason and they wanted to see where you shot it, who cares?? Take them and be done with it. It's very simple, they are there to enforce game laws so if you weren't doing anything stupid what do you have to hide?? A lot of people have a problem with baiting here judging by the above comments, well the Dec officer is trying to do his job and help with that and you're going to be an A Hole and hinder it? Maybe I'm biased because a really close friend of mine is a DEC officer and he's not out to screw anyone over unnecessarily. Respect is lost it seems these days. I'll probably get 3 responses now where someone had a rogue DEC officer being rude to them, well guess what it's probably because you were being a dick. In my experience, the people who want to fight you over a simple request are the ones hiding something. Same with an V&T stop, if an officer wants to poke through my truck quick, have at it, there aren't drugs or illegal weapons in there, I have nothing to hide. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

    Coyotes

Coyotes and deer are a bit more kosher than most people think a lot of the time. A deer will tolerate more coyote scent than human scent from what I've seen. Ive shot deer right next to a day old guy pile and I've shot coyotes and deer on the same sit and neither one payed attention to the other. You'll be fine, go hunt it. Yea once I know exactly what I want I'll definitely look around but I do like the idea of supporting my small local shop even if it costs a bit more but we'll see! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  22. Anyone else in the market for a new bow this year? What are your thoughts on particular bows? I've been researching/shooting a few now and I've got a strong leader at this point but not quite ready to pull the trigger yet, there's still a bow I'd like to shoot. I've owned my Bowtech RPM 360 for 4 years now and although I think it is a great bow, it's never really been "the" bow for me. I shoot well with it but I've never been able to truly tame it like some of my past bows. It's a 31" ATA, 6"BH bow which is screaming fast but I'm looking back toward a slightly longer ATA and possibly a bit longer brace height. Right now I'm thinking of the Bowtech Realm X, 345fps, 6.5" brace, 33 " axle to axle and it held really well against probably the hardest back wall I've ever felt. I'd still like to get my hands on an Obsession FXL though to shoot. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  23. Not to mention if he truly wanted to hide the whereabouts of these "extra large NY bucks" why would you purposely pose your truck in front of the state park sign and then plaster it on the internet?? He claims he doesn't have hero shots because he doesn't want people to know where he's hunting though?? And he's killed so many now that it's just another deer and all of us wish we could even see the deer he passes... I worked sporting goods retail for several years, I saw all types, I know FSW's type as I think we all do. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
