  1. My vacation started great, drive an hour, get settled into my stand, 10 minutes after light I hear machinery coming, apparently the state thought it was a great idea to log around my favorite rut stand. I pack everything back up and I have a backup stand about 400yds away, I race over to it and it's gone, someone stole it! I make the mile walk back to the truck, get my climber and go up a tree in a spot I have no confidence in. My blood pressure is through the roof. At least it a perfect morning I guess.... 2. The next one I shoot has your name on it! I tie my own flies so no need to send anything, I think I still have some pieces lying around actually, I'll look and get back to you. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  3. I skin them and preserve the hide or at least portions of it. I usually keep the tails and skulls for trophies, the rest I give away and use for flytying. Don't care for mounted yotes as I think they all look strange for some reason, so I just euro the skulls, I've got 3 in the freezer now come to think of it... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  4. Back in my local WMA, found a new access point. Walked in and went up a tree, here's to low expectations but at least it's nice out! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  5. You can take pictures or videos with your phone, import them onto a computer or tablet then post them from there. It is convenient to just post from your phone but... My dslr pics I import into my laptop, edit them and then transfer into my phone to post. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. I hear ya man, Everytime I pass on a deer now I can't help but think how nice it would be to tag out and spend the next 2 weeks chasing steelies, I love steelhead fishing! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. I love Instagram, on all the time on my phone. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. I also hunt 7F and 7M primarily, most 7M. The younger bucks are definitely moving at all times of the day in your area. I saw three bucks yesterday, all cruising, not too far from your location in 7M on public land. I think from here on out if you can be in the woods then be there! As always if you have an overabundance of deer and need help thinning them out we're here to help with that also! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  9. Yep, follow up shots on hit deer never hurt, no matter where they land. What's the worst that'll happen? You wound them more? That's the only time for a hail Mary in archery hunting in my opinion... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  10. Slow afternoon until right at last light I heard a buck chasing, after a few minutes he came out into the clear cut and right to 10yds, real small 6pt. I had visions of something much larger... So all in all a great day, had 3 bucks at 10yds or less, jumped a doe real close on the afternoon walk in and gave a coyote a brushcut! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. Maybe the 6 identified himself as a doe... Pretty normal for today's standards. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. My buddy just killed an 8, 2PM he was chasing a 6 pt around. Things are happening! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. Back in, new spot on public, first year clear-cut and I jumped a doe on the way in. Would've liked to stay in the stand that I was in this AM but honestly I don't hunt it at night because it's so far from the truck and help is an hour away. As I suspected I grabbed my arrow from shooting at the coyote and there was a tuft of hair on the ground, maybe he'll think twice about hanging around in the field now at least. 14. I had just started packing up to leave and the second buck came by... I hate this situation, I'll end up sitting here another 2 hours now and see nothing... I hate morning sits, you never know when to get down. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  15. Just had a 2yr old 5pt come to 10yds, he almost got an arrow. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  16. Just missed a yote, pretty sure I Bic shaved his back. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  17. Just rattled in a mini buck to the base of the tree, after he postured up and made a scrape in the field. I hope he's not in charge around here. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  18. Haha I was watching it too, how about the apple pile they spotted from the plane? It was a dump truck load Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  19. Apex Covert pro for me. Use the blank sight tape, shoot 20 yds and when you're happy with the results put a mark on the tape. Then shoot the furthest distance you're comfortable with and Mark the tape. Go through the pack of final marked sight tapes until you find one that matches up with your two marks and you're dead on at all distances. Love the Covert Pro. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  20. It's just a strange thing to ask and expect answers... The reason I enjoy pieces of woods is because it's not well known, if I go spouting about it online it may get more traffic. It's kind of like asking, what are the GPS coordinates to your best tree stand? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  21. My favorite is the one I'm not going to say on a public forum! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  22. Although I think camo can be overrated, I typically wear it. I think that the right hunting clothing has several advantages over a pair of Levi's. The fit and function being one, the materials are often better suited for hunting, (quieter/softer/warmer). The placement of seams and pockets is certainly better suited to hunting than the typical walking around the mall clothes. Some of it also has scent reducing liners, windshear liners, goretex etc... And I also think that camo can and does work in certain scenarios, depending on the camo pattern and breaking up the silhouette I don't see how it couldn't work some honestly. I don't think the color makes too much of a difference but the contrast and breakup lines is what keeps your silhouette from truly being seen. So yes, as a rule I use my camo because it fits/feels and is better suited to my hunting needs. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  23. Do you know if it was local? That's a dandy! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
