I'm joking. I would have bought a Spartan with that $400 and kept the cam you sent.

ATA is running and see the first forays into 2016 cams. Muddy is now in the cam business, likely the result of Big Game's Eyecon cams sucking badly. Cams are without a doubt made on same assembly line as Browning. Cams are also pretty cheap. Moultrie has entered the cell market (again) with a separate modem unit that can work on any '15 or newer Moultrie cam. I am skeptical because Moultrie has consistently tried to make money on download/software/website access and their stuff hasn't worked great in the cell arena. Spartan has a Verizon cam that can now be added for $5 a mo to current plans - which is probably a big deal - and share in the cell plan's data. Covert has a lot of new stuff, but interesting to me is a new cell cam that sends 5s video. They have some new cases and better spec cams.

Cops said: "We can't put her in jail, all the inmates will try to break out." JK.

They are harder to come by especially at this time of year. I would look at their web site but also check with the trapper associations. A lot of times they are run in conjunction with events.

Contrary to popular belief, the world is alot bigger than the USA.But, if you send me the cam and 400 dollars, I will resolve this issue for you, lol.

To keep the SIM active, buy a package once every 59 days. Packages last for 30 days. Basically, 60 days is two billing cycles, and if you go two billing cycles without a package, ATT thinks you are no longer using the SIM and you are removed from the network. You would then need to go to the store and get a new SIM.

Yeah, unfortunately the fix is $400, lol.

Zaleski state forest... anyone ever make the trip
phade replied to NYbuck50's topic in General Hunting
Zaleski is up and down. January is a tough month for me at work, but I do want to try my hand at the late bow season. Baiting is only legal on private property - public lands there is no baiting allowed. That said, it never seemed to be an issue based off of the empty bags of acorn rage and corn/apple piles I saw on a few public parcels. I picked up a really nice shed one year on a public piece, and within eye sight was a Scent bomb, a bag of acorn rage, and more trash than you can think of. Amazing a buck gets as old as it does with some of the pressure these ground gets. Of course, there are spots that are simply overlooked big time. -
No and would prefer the deer not know the cam is there for hunting purposes. I like the HME screw in mounts.
-
At first I saw the 187, as that is a bit low, but then I realized the cam has been our part of Oct, all of Nov and Dec. That's good for alkalines. That ballpark confirms it'd be in the 400-600 transmitted range in a short period.

I am assuming you are out of texts.

What was your battery life? Pic count sent and time soaking? What batteries?

Sight, scent, and sound can all be factors that cause deer to investigate or have a reaction to a camera. I have videos of deer literally licking my camera. Lots of them. Once one doe did it to a particular camera, that camera got licked for years afterwards even on different properties. So much so, the camera would get bumped a lot of times and be off target to where I was aiming. Other than ditching the straps when possible (using screw in mounts), I don't often go through serious scent handling efforts. I used to a lot and I am not convinced it helps because the intrusion itself is doing way more damage than the cam is (scent-wise). I do ditch the straps because a lot of the stock ones are cheap and will soak up sweat, etc. More of a mental thing too, because I despise straps as a method to hang cams. Deer are like people in that they have different dispositions. Some deer will be intrigued, some will be hesitant, some will leave for the next county, and some will ignore it. There are several reasons why deer could be looking up close. Some cams, like the Black 60, have a black IR lens array cover, and that can be mirror-like in certain daytime sets. It took me a while, but I figured out deer were seeing themselves in the array. Even had a young buck bristle up at the cam. But again, depending on the cam, there could be a variety of factors, plus you could just have curious deer.

If it is the BTC5HD, make sure it has the latest firmware update. There was one done specifically to address night pics.

I would watch this closely At and T has a habit of "forgetting" to autorenew and your texts drain at .25c each rather than the package rate. I always recommend people keep $0.00 on the acct and set a phone reminder to buy a package each month avoid it. Log in, go to package, click the text package you want, click continue, click continue through the warning that says you have no funds on acct (good thing in my book), and then check out with the credit card. No need to deposit funds on acct.

Most cases yes. Did you check to see if your text package is active? Sometime if drawn down fast itll not send the text.
-
No.

20 pics a day is alot - if that keeps up, would like to stay in contact on battery life and also see if we can work on a solar or external setup.

Just a few min ago. Flying out of town later. Sipping on coffee and enjoying a survivor show.

So you know the neighbor did it? Even if I was moving, I'd still be onto the authorities. Cutting straps like that is not only vandalism, but its a blatant attempt to hurt someone badly. Not doing anything about it, knowing that the property is sold, it'll just happen to the next people and I wouldn't want something like that on my conscious. But that is just me.

I did manage to get one more cam sent to me due this Thursday.

Two on hand are sold pending funds. Looks like the number of cams I can get will be reduced in the short term. Trying to get more but going to be a bit less frequent.
