  1. There is not much absolute with deer and deer hunting, but I haven't see a pear lose out to an apple in preference yet. Magnets.
  2. I did that in Missouri. Cost me an arm and a leg. Was in a rush and it was the day before our last hunt and the guy had a skill I didn’t lol. Definitely going to learn this skill. It ate up a lot of time too. Had to drive 35 min each way from our campground.
  3. For some reason I'd think that unusual, would imagine those types of investigations happen closer to the season than this far along. But a calendar prob doesn't stop an investigation too often. I am going to have to learn how to cape the face at some point. I'm fine with slow and steady but man that looks hard lol.
  4. Best make sure you follow the CWD rules and interstate transport. We see alot (relatively speaking) of checks along the 90 corridor and offshoots during November. Interestingly we saw a few instances of the DEC doing ridealongs with the troopers on 90 in NY. PA had "pull over" check ins. No brain matter....
  5. These are different - these are full range hanging systems. Both of these are standard shoulder mounts with the Corner Full Range System bracket.
  6. First of the mounts up in corners.
  7. Lol won’t be any time soon. If I get my way at work, I’ll be in a stand in a month in Missouri.
  8. I dread the orange law. Not because I agree or disagree, but because requiring it will add challenges. We have stands within the visible back windows of some homes on the suburban fringe. First property outside of a village where one can hunt and shoot, etc. Fully legal distance, fully respectful shooting angles. Wearing orange will be a nightmare. DEC will be called, cops will be called, etc. These are left leaning suburbanites who will make it a point to make life miserable, even though their .5 acre stamps are not in danger. These same idiots trespassed and cut one of my cell cams in half with a hatchet, and cut the strap on a stand on our property this May before green up - because we replaced a camo strap with a bright green one the week prior. They could see it from their windows. 600+ feet away. These same people...complain about the farm's smell and noise to the town - keep in mind the homes were there AFTER the farm. One guy yelled at us saying the cows were mooing too loud as we were out shed hunting. There are less than 10 cows on the farm. I suppose one could argue not wearing orange and getting shot would be worse, but our overall NY safety track record with no mandate is pretty darn high compared to states with that mandate. I believe we're better off statistically than some of them, even.
  9. I would agree, but someone who can match up good business practice, good service, and good taxidermy...they set their price and the money they make is up to their choosing when no barriers are present. Jason has done a good job overall. I can't say I've met another taxidermist yet who is also a good business person or a good servicer. Match all three and you eliminate one of the most important challenges - incoming revenue stream. He won't have to sell to people. He will no doubt need to account for being self-employed. Discipline, planning for the headwinds, etc. Your point is very valid and even more so with your past career.
  10. Told you, you should go after it 100% man. It is your calling. You have the potential to not just be the best here, but to have the industry know who you are. Go for it.
  11. 2020 season rang up my largest taxidermy bill...a turkey (probably the only one I'll ever get done). A euro for the third buck...and two pedestals from WNYB. Sheesh.
  12. Ladder desk going in. It’ll be cleaned up and stained to match the steps going into the house from this room. Will serve as a computer desk and a work bench function as it is counter top height.
  13. You can replace with a wood seat. Just drill the appropriate holes. While not ideal as wood rots, you can monitor it for safety and replace every so often. Not that hard. You'll need a seat pad though...LOL.
  14. This buck and three others were within 10 feet. This photo was taken immediately after I shot my bow buck this year. I shot the buck while this deer and the others were in the same exact place eating acorns. I had to wait for my partner to come get me to bust them out of there so as to not give up the stand location. I’m right handed and I shot the buck at 3 o clock. Had to stand up, turn, and shoot. This stand was also set here 48-60 hours before the shot, too, if I recall properly. Buck I shot went by while I was in stand the first day we set it. Unfortunately not in a shooting lane. Second sit killed him. Anyone saying you can’t bowhunt effectively out of ladder stands is just being close minded. Preference I get. Saying it can’t be done effectively….meh.
  15. Basic ladder stands are underrated stands IMO. I do agree on the metal seats vs the nylon with webbing. Those suck and do not last long at all. You'll be replacing them...we overlayed a piece of plywood on one worn out last year and call it the flatass stand now. For a reason.
  16. I have two of the corners going up as my room gets done. Should be in next week or two.
  17. That white doe has to be cool; shoulder mounting them seems more practical than my piebald which unless it was a full body, you wouldn't get an appreciation for with a shoulder mount. BTW have you checked out Mears forms? They seem popular too on the FB taxi groups.
  18. check out full range hanging systems, they do a double that allows for alot of movement. Great deer!
  19. DER is cheap and will put on growth in short order. We use it as a filler for plot failures or gaps. They eat it fine. Radish / PTT / Green Globe is a good mix IMO.
  20. @WNY Bowhunter would need to chime in LOL.
  21. Caseta Lutron switches in today. Oddly enough we had to pull the home kit lights! It was causing interference with the AC and dimmers. Never seen such a thing. In are the Edison bulbs lol. TV is up. Bet my wife the 55” would be fine vs the 40” she thought I should get. She admitted defeat lol. I’ll be watching the resignation of AC tonight in here! Still a lot more to do. Surround sound, custom ladder desk, mounts, and the backside of the garage wall.
  22. I wanted to go with those style bulbs; we have them in our kitchen and dining room. They look great. That said these are Apple HomeKit bulbs so I can control them remotely and build automations - right now when I walk from the truck to the front door at night, the lights come on automatically so no need to fumble around in the dark. Technology is crazy these days.
  23. I hear ya. I avoid preselling them to be fair, but they do get bought by my current customers for the most part since demand outstrips supply. I have a few Spartan, Spypoints in Verizon right now. Have Covert and Reveals in ATT. I generally turn my stock over every 2-3 days though.
