I don't think it's about OK or not, it is about effort/time/prep. I can't say I'd be super excited to process a doe in these conditions personally. There is more work in it IMO - I can shoot a doe on Sunday in say Nov or Dec and not absolutely need to process it right away and take care of it after work on Monday evening. I'll just call it what it is, if this were a bow season for buck or doe....I'd shoot a buck and gladly deal with it. But that's because I'm willing to call in tomorrow to process a buck overnight if I shot one. Also, my boss would be happy cause I'm probably not missing as much time at work in a few months, lol. Doe opps are just too plentiful in season to take them at convenient times for me - bucks, not so much.

I've seen that done before. Good idea for here though. I'm just a peon in the grand scheme of things, ha. Service/Ops senior leader with around 250 employees in my org amongst the 16K EEs we have overall. My camera business has been going very well, but man is it scary to consider going on your own. Been eyeing it for a few months now. Nerve-wracking.

Cardano was a miss for me. I knew I should have got it in but didn't because I didn't want to spend the time chasing down opening a crypto account. My ETH/DOGE/BTC is all in RH, which has its drawbacks.

Let's be real. The 30 min rule was archaic and not based on data; it's based on emotions and empirical stories. Being the only state east of the Mississippi that didn't allow this showed just how flawed NY was/is. NY had no blaze orange and the legal sunrise/set rule and was really no more or less safe than other states, even with expansion of rifles and what not. They could have easily extended the 30 min rule and not BO and still been as statistically safe as peer states. I am familiar with not being able to put toothpaste back into the tube once it is out, esp when it comes to human life, but decisions are largely made on macro levels/big picture. Risk Management's goal is to manage risk, not eliminate it. If you eliminated risk, we wouldn't be allowed to do anything, ever. Just like in business - if you eliminate risk, you eliminate sales and revenue. Is what it is. I've got my green pins ready to go....and those light gathering scopes!

Just turn the knob on that little light thingy on the site. They glow. Remember, Red goes dark first. Then Orange/Yellow. Then finally green. It's science.

Quote of the year on this site.

Be wise to shed bucks at this time of year, if that kind of thing is important to you. There will be a learning curve with this season for some people, at the expense of a buck they've been chasing getting popped as a flathead. But, it'll be really exciting for those who enjoy late season hunting. I'm more excited about that time than I am the opening week of regular season. I'd rather take my time then because you can be purposeful.

1. Antlerless-only deer season in mid-September (9/11 - 9/19/2021) using firearms in WMUs 3M, 3R, 8A, 8F, 8G, 8N, and 9F, and using bowhunting equipment in WMUs 1C, 4J, and 8C. DMPs and DMAP tags only. 2. Daily hunting hours for deer and bear extended to 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset. 3. Hunters must wear a fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink hat or vest when hunting deer or bear with a firearm. 4. Antlerless harvest allowed again during the early muzzleloader season in Northern Zone WMUs 6A, 6F, 6J. 5. Bear season in the Adirondacks is simplified by extending the regular season to cover the full hunting period. 6. 12- and 13-year old hunters may hunt deer with a firearm or crossbow in counties that passed a local law to participate in the opportunity. See Junior Big Game Hunting for a map of participating counties. 7. Holiday Deer Hunt is an extension of the late bow and muzzleloader season from December 26 - January 1 in the Southern Zone. An update on the early season for those units.

I am ready to make the same pivot myself - admittedly I have done a horrible job in networking externally because I have been a lifer at this company with 14 years in. I'm starting the wheels in motions for connections, convos, etc. I made more money this year than ever before and same boat as you - the money is good but its not reflective of the risk I carry in the business and then on top of it the appreciation/acknowledge/support just isn't there. Some companies are struggling with the culture change, as are some employees.

Ohio hard horn…

32 of them. All 40 are gone. Like the wind. Unless you want to shakedown mowin, lol. He has one he bought that I am staring at right now. It'll be going out shortly though to him.

I got 40 in this week which was a shock. I believe these are the last I am getting until SKs at some point. They're still saying Sept/Oct for SKs. Covid and chip impacts are what they are but man, releasing a cam in October seems like a tough break for them. A few friends ordered from Gander - hearing that they got a delivery on Thursday at a warehouse in Indiana, so here is to hoping for you al!

Online forums are being challenged for participation by other social media outlets. Some of the key forums still run well but they're pretty much already established as the online source. Car forums seem to hold weight vs say FB groups though as do pews/archery. For example, on FB, there are 3-4 NY based forums that all have several times the membership this forum does. Granted you can't do things on there you can do on forums (IE speak about or sell certain things), but in large, the "hunting" stuff is on FB. One NY group has like 60K members and the volume of interaction is high. Now, that said, it's the wild wild west, short of the rules you can't break, but again, it has the traffic. I've tried to be active here in past few weeks/months but I agree, it's just not what it was. Same circular people and arguments. Different day. Every once in a while a bright spot here and some key people that I enjoy interacting with. But, as time goes on, I just am not on here as much throughout the year. The in the stand threads are nice to read and engage with. I'm reminded of the "it is what it is" saying with this forum. Met some great people here so certainly valued and appreciated.

The Bow/ML antlerless is statewide isn’t it?

Thanks. Starting to get a little stressful internally (not with clients or servicing). I'm reaching inflection point of having to decide between capping the business off for what it is or making a full run at it with expanded offerings and giving up the corporate gig. Scary.

They’re consistently the best. Perfect? No, no cam is. But their price isn’t marketing related. They barely market. Yeti costs so much because they spend a big % in marketing. Reconyx has coated internals to prevent corrosion for example. Nobody else does that and they all use lead based soldering. Not Reconyx. Their price, while high, is justified more on the reliability, longevity, performance, and trust one has in a cam. Lots of people are running Reconyx 10+ years.
-
Given what you are looking to accomplish and the urgency, I can probably help you out later this week with a solution. Cost would be right at $425 all in but I can “silver platter” the set up for you with two standalone cams and show you how to work the cams, get app running, etc. All you would need to do is buy lithium AAs. Cuddeback really isn’t the right move right now. Right now I’m tapping out of my deliveries from Friday and have more due in Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m about half done today with orders from this weekend.
-
The price for a regular cam is absurd but the Reconyx is such a performing brand. They need to dive into the cell game even more than they are right now. Hoping they can survive the market and continue to make good cams.

Personally for me in this hypo, I’m assuming I get one barrel. I’d have to go 870 pump smoothie with the appropriate chokes. Jack of all trades and time tested. Not a sexy choice, but sometimes you got to pick getting the job done vs sexy. -
17.8% here. Rookies. Bought some Toyota for long term hold. Not seeing a lot for short term at all. Datadog? Kinda boring lately! Edit. Good day Friday. 19.8%.

The Wolf is a great selection. It really does do a good job for the large majority of MZ hunters. I have hunted with one alot over the years, even predating the quick pull breeches. About the only complain has been the lousy ramrod. I wish they'd have better ones. That said, it is hard to justify a $400 model vs this if you're shooting 100 yards and in, in most cases. I have a Vortek UL, a Buckstalker, a Wolf, and I think one other. The Vortek is nice for longer shots but that is double the price for 1 out of 100 scenarios for me. Wolf is very much a gold standard in that market category.

Door has a stop thankfully!

Also be aware of allopathic relationships. Ryes amongst other things can leave residual compounds as part of their natural weed suppression characteristics.

I’ll tell ive been a proponent of seeding, spraying and fert/lime, all in one day. It’s turned out well. The thought process is that gly will not impact the seed germination. However, I recently walked through an informal personal study that a plotter did with spraying Gly on seeds in a small test area then getting seeds to germinate and the germ rate was much less with gly vs the non gly. It’s challenging a lot of conventional wisdom in the plotting community right now. Evidence seemed pretty clear. My plots have turned out ok doing that in most instances with only a few failures but it may be impacting somewhat in germ rate or even in those failure instances.

I can certainly see your point. Appreciation goes a long way. As time goes on however, I’ve learned that needing that appreciation devalues the act in and of itself. The gift you provided and the opportunity it creates is paying it forward. It’s why I don’t loan money to people. If they need money and I deem worthy, I don’t expect to see it again. It is what it is. You may find peace if you just focus on what you did and know that it makes a positive impact.
